Excellent video. Fantastic advice. An alternate strategy for the inquisitor is mobility. In my (many) solo runs, I had great success with an open hand monk using the mobility feat (I am trying to avoid the tavern brawler exploit) and a shadow monk utilizing shadow step (I especially enjoyed this fight). Paradoxilly, in solo runs, I have determined (after many experimental trails), due to the gith's parry reaction, that eliminating the ranged giths first is ideal and then whittling down the inquisitor, assuming one has high mobility, high armor class, and a reliable strategy to avoid opportunity attacks. An amusing sequala of this strategy is the sheer number of the summoned pyschic blades, which, unlike spiritual weapon, have a dishearteningly superior movement speed. Fortunately, the pychic blade's attack bonus does not match their speed. I strongly believe your strategy is quite superior, but not nearly as fun 😉. Please continue your inspired efforts. Cheers
It's a brave person to allow so many swords to be summoned! I think being able to see so many on the screen would be worrying for me.
However I can certainly see the benefit of mobility if we're able to outrun the majority of attacks/swords.
Sequala! A condition which is the consequence of a previous disease or injury. I learned a new word! That sounds like a really crazy fight!
Tavern brawler feat is more balanced in honor mode. It’s only adds the Str mod to the attack roll and not to the damage roll like it does in all the other difficulties
For the spider I got my crossbow bard to snipe the spiders and lure em away, and sneakily drstroy the eggs before facing the mother. A lot of the honor mode fight are p. easy (save for ansur, unless you really save all your barrelmancy on him) if you've taken notes of the things you can do from your first playthrough.
Some legendaries, if you read carefully, you'll see loopholes on em. Like some dead guy will heal himself to full and make his summons invulnerable if you kill one of em "with an action"... so if they happen to die because they walk towards a cloud of daggers....
@@alimagno619 if you talked the ogres into fighting for you. Stealth in until the spider boss goes over a breakable spider web and burn it so she takes a lot of fall damage then once initiative rolls go out use the ogre horn
Now you can exploit the ogres to help and also get the 17 int head piece on one shot
Loved every tip, even more than the battles - the preparation ones.
I have to give Silence the respect in honour mode I didn't already at tactician, being an auto-add spell for me on any class who gets it. In "space", no one can hear you scream ... or hear an explosion.
Thank the gods you did this video!! I'm in act 1 honor mode and terrified. I got to level 6 before trying any of them. This vid will help me prepare!! Advice for the Hag is cast jump (for movement) before combat & use Magic Missile (I saved three scrolls). One missile for each illusion and you can take them all out in one turn!
Use your hirelings. From the moment I got withers in camp, I immediately gained access to four clerics. At the start of a new day I have them all cast aid, warding bond, poison resistance, long strider, and mage armor on the party members I am taking with me (I have one take a level of wizard to cast the last two) and believe me it helps because sometimes you can't afford to use your bonus action to take a tonic or heal someone else. Eventually as you level up you will get access via druid or cleric to hero's feast which gives you and your party members a buff that doesn't allow them to be diseased, poisoned, or frightened and they make wisdom saving throws with advantage. This is a game that requires skill but also alot of luck and you should be doing everything that helps tip the scale in your favor.
I cant stress enough how good a transmutation wizard is for honor mode. Dropping a hill giant potion, potion of heroism or a colossus potion and having your summons drink it or even using a hireling to cast mage armor on them can really help you out sometimes. I made astarion a warlock/rogue, sat in the darkness with my imp with warding bond, mage armor, longstrider, aid, extra attack and a elixer of viciousness.
Excellent guides. Amazing Help! Thank you CVG! now i'm armed with the knowledge once again...Honour mode serious attempt time!
ayeeeeeee I'm glad you are still making content! I've been watching you since the early access days when I was playing on stadia!
Whoa 9k subs, congrats!
Shovel is my MVP, she can surprise neutral npcs.
the owl bear one is super cute. also if u kill either parent the other gets a rage boost and tries to avenge their mate. :
appreciate your vids. ty for the advice.
On my current run, I managed to deal with ethel with a party comp, I normally wouldn't use: Karlach (bear heart), Astarion (Thief), Lae'zel (BM) and my halfling gloomsltaker, (no spells allowed). Managed to save all the masks by just focusing on ethel, had everyone keep a speed potion in their inventory just in case things got dicey but ended up not needing them (got lucky and didn't miss a single attack). The hardest fight so far for me wasn't a boss fight but the first encounter with the githyanki, that fight is insane if you decide to have a "chat" with them first, even with a clear strategy and a backup plan, I was a hair away from loosing control of the situation. I'm trying as hard as possible not to "cheese" any encounters but in anticipation I'm already dreading the orthon in act 2, since I know that if I engage convo with him, he's gonna go first and possibly one shot 1 or 2 of my characters from the get go. I wish I could rename Honor mode in the game menu and call it Anxiety mode instead because God this thing makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about it.
I was level 5 Druid with spike growth when I wanted to kill the Githyanki. I cast spike growth followed by Wyll’s Hunger of Hadar. All of them filthy brutes died screaming without getting a shot at my party. So satisfying
So I started my first Honor Mode playthrough last night. It was going well and I made it to the Grove to speak to Kagha. After I spoke to her, I got up to get a drink and when I came back everyone had aggro’d and I was in combat. Could this be because I used the “friends” cantrip on kagha? If so that is wild lol
Yeah, in honour mode nobody is particularly happy about people using a spell to enchant them! If you do use friends make sure you get out as soon as you can after. Usually if an NPC cannot find you once the spell is over then there will be no issue.
@@keebmack Casting Friends in Honor mode........i see you too like to play dangerously.
@@CasualVeteranGamer Friends is still safe to use for encounters where the success outcome will result in the target leaving or dying and where the failure outcome will result in a fight anyway (the ogres, gith partol, Thorms, etc).
When I tried to get the two NPCs to help with the Owlbear fight, the guy spent the entire time killing the cub. So the next time I just told them to leave because all they did was cause problems.
i almost got both 3hrs in my fighter wizard go lol i didnt know two spawned and i just wanted to go there, then leave but i failed the roll......rips and the run was soo good too ahhh lol
If you fuck up the owlbear from the top rope method, a tavern brawler character yeeting suits of armour I’d been hoarding from the heavens just saved my honor mode run and it was actually kinda fun😭😂 had grym dead by turn 3 throwing scale male, the forge molds, and a torch.
Just in time for my first boss fights in my honour mode run (though technically I've already talked my way past Bernard and let the goblins kill the owlbear for me). Also I've completed multiple runs and never knew about Hamarhraft. I guess my instinct is always to save the trapped people and not to run deeper into the blazing room 😅
Owlbear - Silence - you’re welcome
I could never bring myself to kill the Owlbear. That poor cub is to cute to make it an orphan by my own hands.
You can save it over the course of the game and it will go to your camp, if that makes it any better!
@@CasualVeteranGamer Haha it does thanks for responding, still enjoyed the video as it sure did help :D
I'm doing honor mode but I don't know THAT much about builds and stuff (I never multiclassed except for the achievement) but so far it's so so fun and scary and the same time!! Right now I'm doing double rogue assassin (Astarion + Tav) and rotating the other two, but they do pretty great damage and if things get dicey we can just run the hell out in most situations
I still need to do the Creché and the githyanki mountain pass (i have the ogres saved for that one), but I was thinking maybe I should skip Ethel? LOL and I'm terrified about Ch'rai so I will probably use barrelmancy on him haha
Wait, you can't talk your way out of the fight with Bernard? I mean, do you really need to fight him??
You can talk your way out of the fight, but since he has a legendary action I wanted to show it in this video.
@@CasualVeteranGamer Ah yes, that makes sense. Good thing you showed it. Now I know to not engage in that fight, haha :P
Hag is super easy when your party is filled with martials 😂
ya moonbeam is so good and op lol i love it
HAs anyone tried to "Silence" the Owl Bear?
Too many mistakes!
For the owlbear, you can cast silence and have everyone inside the bubble so she doesnt jump out of it. As long as she is inside the bubble she won't call her mate.
You can also cast command and make the owlbear halt. I didn't actually come up with this strategy, one of the cultists is a cleric and the npc did it herself. The owlbears turn was skipped and the rest is history.
