    Thanks Chris - enjoyed that!
    Yep, I've been using that SKU system after I saw a US reseller doing it - I find it particularly useful when I'm using my phone and considering offers etc.

      @@CookieTheHaydens Do you know what Chris, the more I think about it - the more I like how you don’t get caught up on how much individual items cost…
      I think I get way too attached to how much I’ve paid for something, and that then influences how much I want to sell it for (when, in reality, the market doesn’t care how much we’ve paid for something!). It’s led me to turning down so many offers, and I’m in danger of becoming a ‘hoarder not a reseller’ like you say!
      How liberating it must be to just look at values and what somebody is willing to pay for an item, and forgetting the cost of goods - as that’s kinda irrelevant really? (apart from accounting purposes of course).

    • @CookieTheHaydens
      @CookieTheHaydens  Місяць тому +1

      Yes this is exactly why I don’t micro manage with spreadsheets. When the money is spent it matters not anymore you just gotta sell it and that’s dictated by the value a buyer puts on it really. I took this mindset from another reseller a while back.

      @@CookieTheHaydens Cheers Chris - something I clearly need to work on. Starts now!
      Thanks for helping me look at things differently 👍🏻

    Nice sales Chris. Agree with you on spreadsheets, too much faff.

      Very little point unless you want to micromanage your items which I understand some people do, I just don’t.

    Tried running for a week without a spreadsheet. Chaos, absolute chaos.

    • @CookieTheHaydens
      @CookieTheHaydens  Місяць тому +1

      Depends if you’re running all your incoming and outgoing through a spreadsheet or not. I use QuickBooks so almost everything just goes straight through there and it’s only cash purchases I need to account differently for

      @@CookieTheHaydensWell given that you are “Car Boot Chris”, that means a shed load of cash purchases have to be treated differently? I take a photo of all my car boot purchases each week and a sheet of how much paid. Then I include that cost price in the SKU. I don’t realise eBay allowed you to sort by SKU?

    • @CookieTheHaydens
      @CookieTheHaydens  Місяць тому +1

      The majority of my purchases are not from car boots now. Maybe once or twice a week I just list what I bought and add it to QuickBooks, very simple.

    If you don't mind a quick follow-up question Chris...
    What is your thought process when it comes to considering offers? (and, does the cost of goods feature in your decision?).
    Cheers
    Eddie

    • @CookieTheHaydens
      @CookieTheHaydens  Місяць тому +1

      It does to a certain extent. When offers come in I consider how long I’ve had the item and the cost price. Obviously you want to avoid losing money where possible but the value of an item is dictated by what someone is willing to pay. I’m starting to add the following code (like Dave) to the SKU - A12-010824-5 (location-date listed-cost). That’s as far as I’m going though defo no spreadsheets tracking the ins and outs of a ducks arse.

      @@CookieTheHaydens Ha ha - yeah, we have to be careful not to spend too much time on admin tasks etc - which don't bring the money in.
      I suppose it boils down to good time-management really, and the 80/20 rule (e.g. 20 per cent of your activities bring in 80 per cent of the profit).
      Love your 'lean', focused approach to business.
      Thanks for the tips 👍

    do you not do spreadsheets for tax purposes?

    • @CookieTheHaydens
      @CookieTheHaydens  Місяць тому

      Nope, I use a written ledger for cash purchases which I photograph and add to QuickBooks
