I had the pleasure of meeting her in person around two years ago (I had a mini meltdown but she was so gracious, so I had a Mr Darcy moment lol 😂) and no exaggeration, she is even more beautiful in person than on screen- her eyes are luminous and her skin is flawless 😍 she’s really a very natural and Jane Austen-esque beauty
The amount of times I’ve watched this 6 hour movie series is unreal. Not a single bad scene, perfectly casted, hilarious moments that never fail to make me laugh even if I know exactly when it is happening and say the lines with the characters.
At least you are a woman. I am a man and ashamedly watch it every winter, and still own my now redundant DVDs. And I am neither socially awkward nor a couch potato yet love only this Jane Austen work. And maybe Persuasion. And Jane Eyre. Ok time to shut up.
Exactly! this series is my own medicine when I am in a bad mood... no surprise, but text and acting are so good, I forget everything else during hours...
I swear every scene he’s in with Lizzie he looks like he’s about to melt into a puddle, he’s somehow both the broody loner type and an awkward dork at the same time and I love it so much 😂
I'm so happy someone finally pointed that part out! That is one of the editing ideas in this whole video that had me laugh like an idiot while I was making it and still makes me laugh when I watch it! 😆
My husband often looks at me the way Darcy looks at Lizzie, after 15 years married and 6 kids. It makes me very happy... 😍 Oh, and he is a real fan of Jane Austen
update: this video made me watch the entire mini series in 6 hours so i am back here to say it is 100% worth it and 10/10 would recommend. officially hooked on period dramas now.
Hilarious. I have watched this mini-series probably a thousand times. In an interview Colin Firth said this was a difficult role to play because he had to act with huge passionate emotion that he never shows.
That’s kind of hilarious since there’s not much passion showed here haha! Just lots of lovey eyes. Or did he mean that he couldn’t show it in the movie?
@@Keepinitreal55 Mr. Darcy keeps himself under good regulation, so he would never allow powerful emotion, such as that which Elizabeth inspires in him, to show. Colin Firth does an excellent job of portraying Krakatoa before the explosion lol.
In the novel, he does have one scene where he shows his passion fully, and that's after Lizzy accepts his second proposal. But Austen doesn't provide any dialogue for it, only describes it. So this adaptation just sort of skips over it, which is a bit of a shame.
So cute, when I was 14 I was with my sis and her friend, and my husband was in the same pizza parlor with his 2 friends and he was sitting over there staring, and my sis said, that guy just keeps staring at you, and I laughed, and lo and behold he came over and introduced himself and asked me for my phone number, he called a week later and we were became friends for years, hung out a lot through highschool, years went by and we got back in touch when we were 30, and got married at 31., now 35 years being married, lol.

Centuries later in 2020: "I'm just asking about your Momma. Did she get that job she wanted? Sold her car that gave her problems? I'm just curious about her. Honest!" -- Justin Bieber Song: Can We Still Be Friends?
This is one of my favourite ever books and I am so glad that this version did it so much credit. Elizabeth was feisty, beautiful and intelligent. Darcy was awkward, handsome and you can see his confidence growing as she warms up to him. I love the progression and the war Darcy has within himself… Elizabeth is like: no, I can’t love him… wait, do I love him? OMG I love him!!!
That part is one of my favourite I came up with for this video, the suspense music in the background was a stroke of genius on my part, if I do say so myself. 😂😂

Can I just say, THE FEMALE GAZE. Mr. Darcy is just....... the way he tenderly passionately awkwardly stares at her, that is the female gaze. He really has perfected the, "the things I would do to you... after taking you for a walk around my estate and having deep conversations over tea" stare😍
Mr Darcy may not have the talent of conversing easily with people he has never met, but he sure knows how to stare & convey his feelings through his eyes 💓
中村Litari it was news back then. The press only discovered after they split up. The actors admit it as well, so it is not just gossip. They were together for a year.
mr. darcy: but she's not handsome enough to tempt me mr. darcy approx 20 secs later: *is following her around the room with his eyes* maybe she IS handsome enough to tempt me
I think very early on in the book, Darcy was described as being "bewitched" by her, thinking of her with "complacency", and feeling that he might be in "real danger".
This is hilarious. My husband watched this with me the other day and it was the scene where he was watching Elizabeth help Georgiana with her music. He had the whole gall to ask me if I thought that energy was what Edward Cullen was trying to channel. lol
I just watched this for the first time in my life last week, and I had the exact same thought. "Oohhh, Twilight was trying to copy this, the writer was just shit"
Roflmao I've only recently listened to the audiobook of Pride and Prejudice and I'm still catching up on the movies but yeah it's basically this in a slightly more modern setting with a s*** writer + vampire b******* for interest

Only missed chance here - adding one scene to "well now they know" 😂

The eyesex has never been more REAL.
And poor Lizzy having not a clue that she was getting eye fucked six ways from Sunday.
As a devout, almost religious Austen fan, i MUST recommend Perusasion1995. Capt. Wentworth and Anne - eyesex.
Man that eye sex..

“we’re back to lusting after her from a distance, then”
that’s quarantine life baybee
Mr Darcy: “But she’s not handsome enough to tempt me”
Also him: ”I’ve known her to be one of the handsomest women I’ve ever been acquainted with”
I always laugh at how aggressive his bow was.
The first time I watched this movie with my parents and sister I burst out laughing at how he just plunged forward
He looks like he TRIED to do subtle then just sort of...fell, and tried to roll with it
It’s absolutely ridiculous! 🤣
MY BODY IS NOT READY!
*Darcy's aggressive bow*
🤣🤣🤣🤣💀
I'M LAUGHING SOOOOOO HARD BECAUSE OF THAT PART HAHAHAHAAHAA
That part had me cracking up!
The ending is basically, "When she finally meets your gaze with something other than contempt" 😂😂😂
Pretty much, yeah! 😆
To go from “barely tolerable” to “pretty” is quite a step for the dear Mr Darcy
At the end he calls her dearest loveliest Elizabeth
Jennifer Ehle looks like a painting. She's stunning in this film
Agreed!
Agreed
In the Kings Speech i was probably kidding myself but there was a spark somehow when they first confronted each other in that dingy room. Sigh.
@@ssoomee i take it by your "Darcy moment" you meant you just stared transfixed?
The amount of times I’ve watched this 6 hour movie series is unreal. Not a single bad scene, perfectly casted, hilarious moments that never fail to make me laugh even if I know exactly when it is happening and say the lines with the characters.
At least you are a woman. I am a man and ashamedly watch it every winter, and still own my now redundant DVDs. And I am neither socially awkward nor a couch potato yet love only this Jane Austen work. And maybe Persuasion. And Jane Eyre. Ok time to shut up.
@@MasterMagi Nothing to be ashamed of! Jane Austen's books are brilliant. So 👍👏 to you!
It's my go to video for doing the ironing. Have watched it a few hundred times over the years. It never gets old.😇

update: this video made me watch the entire mini series in 6 hours so i am back here to say it is 100% worth it and 10/10 would recommend. officially hooked on period dramas now.
Where did you watch it?
@@carmen2412 Hulu has it streaming I think
As a person who grew up with period dramas I would recommend you to see “Emma”.
Emma is a pretty entertaining period drama.
Theodora Lazy I just saw the one with Gwenyth Paltrow and loved it 🤍 Thank you so much for the recommendation! Do you mean another version?
Zahra H.
That was a good version but the Emma BBC 2009 is also another nice version of Emma if you would like to see it.
The scene where lizzy is turning the pages for Georgiana and darcy is looking at her makes me SCREAM!!! HIS FACE IS EVERYTHING
Ugh I love that part

Mr. Dracy: She’s a tolerable one.
Elizabeth walks past him with a passing glance.
Mr. Dracy: Oh my God she’s meeting all of my standards!
Except for her mother and silly younger sisters...
@@lauralinden6840 well he has Lady Catherine as aunt.
Hilarious. I have watched this mini-series probably a thousand times. In an interview Colin Firth said this was a difficult role to play because he had to act with huge passionate emotion that he never shows.
Omg what interview plsss
@@premanadi And he did it to perfection, imho 😊
The "every breath you take" part made me laugh until I had stomach ache LOL😂😂🙈

So cute, when I was 14 I was with my sis and her friend, and my husband was in the same pizza parlor with his 2 friends and he was sitting over there staring, and my sis said, that guy just keeps staring at you, and I laughed, and lo and behold he came over and introduced himself and asked me for my phone number, he called a week later and we were became friends for years, hung out a lot through highschool, years went by and we got back in touch when we were 30, and got married at 31., now 35 years being married, lol.
Just wow
No way!! So sweet 🥺

This is such a wonderful story :)
Aww that's so cute and sweet 😊. But did he ever ask if your family was in good health?🤭

Colin Firth is the ONLY DARCY!!
Oh yes. As far as I’m concerned, he is THE Darcy.
Oh yes! He is the only one!!
He plays me darcy in bridget jones as well! cause he is mr darcy
Olivier is a close second, and Rhys wasn't bad, but I melt when I see Colin Firth's eyes as they stare at Jennifer Ehle's Elizabeth!
God, the second hand embarrassment is killing me🤧😂

I always find it funny how Darcy bows at Elizabeth how fast and awkward it is
My favourite bit is when he goes back into the room at night to stare at the place she *used to be*.

@@elisaa9981 spoken like a true 21st century feminist. It’s a wonder that such people gravitate towards historical pieces and then expect modern day values to smack them on the face
@AkireMaru Two things: the film was made in the 20th century, and every epoch in time do their own interpretations. Also, I don't expect modern values in a historic piece, but I find it ridiculous to idolize past times as better.
My god, Mr. Darcy has the most intense internally screaming heart eyes I have ever seen. I can't believe it took me this long to see it lmao
Yes, they are really marvelous. I think they made him a success more than any wet shirt.

The only thing he had done most of the time was just intense staring at her. 😭

This is one of my favourite ever books and I am so glad that this version did it so much credit. Elizabeth was feisty, beautiful and intelligent. Darcy was awkward, handsome and you can see his confidence growing as she warms up to him.
Too bad Elizabeth was so busy hating him, she didn't notice a thing. 😅
And the fact that he actually fell in love with the actress during the shoot 😭😩 Colin Firth will forever be my Mr. Darcy

I think very early on in the book, Darcy was described as being "bewitched" by her, thinking of her with "complacency", and feeling that he might be in "real danger".
This is hilarious. My husband watched this with me the other day and it was the scene where he was watching Elizabeth help Georgiana with her music. He had the whole gall to ask me if I thought that energy was what Edward Cullen was trying to channel. lol
