I’m just glad that my generation had given up on the traditional hot Christmas Dinner, we were often camping at Christmas when I was a child, so ham and salad, and maybe hot roasted potatoes (in the electric frypan if we had power) and that carried over to when I had my own family here in Australia, the only way to cope in the heat is to prep everything, and hope the fridge is large enough.🤣🌏👍
The size of the fridge is the problem, my old models had plenty of room but this latest one does not & the worst part is that the shelves are too close together so most jars will not fit on any but the top shelf. It is supposed to be a two person fridge but believe me I struggle to have enough room in it for one person!!
I started to cook for the family at the age of 13. At 64 I still love to cook. With food prices as it is I check the specials, buy what I can and then come home and plan meals around what I have. With the rising in cost I had to switch off 2 of my deep freezers, luckily I have one running. If life gives you lemons make lemonade😅
Thank you Stacey- I prep all my desserts the day before - trifle, pav, fruit salad, double choc boysenberry brownie - just leaving cream to whip on the day. For mains - I roast one and slow cook one meat. So just new potatoes to boil and salads to mix on the day ❣️
It's great to have so much already pre-prepped - it really does help to make the day of cooking so much more enjoyable, especially if you're wanting to share those times with family and friends. Always so good to see you Stace - Love & BIG HUGS!!!
Hello Stacey I totally agree with having leftovers.years ago we decided to go out to a restaurant for Christmas lunch and it was beautiful but we didn’t have leftovers ,it just wasn’t the same as I usually rely on leftovers for a couple of days so I don’t have to cook, anyway we haven’t done that again 😂
I like to prep xmas dinner ahead of time . I make sausage meat stuffing and pigs in blankets ect and freeze. all veg and potatoes peeled xmas eve morning while turkey and meats cooking and I slice it up when cool . Only time my fridge is full lol . Egg n chips for dinner because all the nice foods for xmas 😂😂
I’ve always planned ahead for Christmas, Easter, etc. it just makes things so much easier. Everything, or most anyway were already cooked and just heated up on the day. It made everything, if not stress free, nearly stress free. I suffer from anxiety and I have panic attacks if I don’t prepare items before. Now, of course, most know that I’m unable to stand at the bench preparing and cooking so I just do easy things and my family bring food along with them.I don’t get stressed at all now. This year I’m going to my granddaughters for Christmas and I’ve already said I will make and bring 3 desserts. 2 of them are yours Stacey, so thank you for your videos and recipes, you’ve made our Christmas a little easier. The third one was something that was extremely easy and I’ve just got to remember who did it and what website it was on and if I can’t find it I’ll just search for another easy recipe so I’m not worried. My kids always want trifle and they call in me to make it just like my mum did but I’m making a different one this year and of course a Pavlova. I just can’t use strawberries for either, oh well raspberries and something else will suffice, I love raspberries anyway. Thanks for your videos Stacey, yours and another cooking channel are my favourites so it’s easy enough. I really appreciate your channel so much and its very enjoyable watching your channel. TFS and hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas 🔔🎄😂🎅🏻🔔🎄😂🎅🏻
It’s lovely to hear that you are bringing some of my recipes to your granddaughter's Christmas, thank you for that. Thanks also for being here and for the support. Merry Christmas.
I do my mashed potatoes, squash ,turnip the day before I reheat them in microwave when I pull the turkey out of oven a turn it down to 200 and put the sides in to keep warm and the stuffing out of the bird goes back in oven well turkey rest I make the gravy
Hi Stacey. It's after midnight and I'm watching you! Love the memory you shared of you catering for your marriage to Husband in your wedding dress. So cute!👰♀. Thanks for the practical preparation tips. Lots of love from Pukekohe 💞💞💞
Morena Stacy🤗 thankyou for today’s episode🙏 very informative and helpful. I’m 58 and have 8 children. Planning ahead and food preparation was something I learned quickly and had to. I guess it helped that I loved to cook and was a stay at home mum. I love Christmas and being in the kitchen making all those traditional and new dishes we all so love to eat on the day. Making sure to have leftovers is an absolute must lol. It means you don’t have to cook again for the next 2 days, you get to pack up food in an instant to take to the beach for the day also🤗. I have 6 daughters and if I could have them every year at Christmas with me in the kitchen making Christmas lunch ? I’d be in heaven lol. You have fun and as the old saying goes? More hands make light work💜have a great weekend Stacy 🤗
My daughter wrote down our menu for lunch on Xmas day each person in our house had to pick one & its their job to either prep now or do it on the day. The hassel of always adults cooking the children are now wanting to partake in the menu, we have told them that we will guide them & remind them as the cooking process goes on but also teaching them to cook as well. Thank you we are all looking forward to just chowing down at christmas day
I've been loving these videos, thankyou for the shortbread recipe ,I am going to make some next week. I've cheated this year and just made the 3 ingredients Christmas cake,so much easier than the usual one. 😊
With our immediate family we started a tradition about 15 years ago. We do a hot oil fondue we have pork, beef, chicken, chopped & marinated in small zip lock bags usually 3 different marinades. It takes about 1 large steak, 2 chicken breasts, 2or 3 loinchops, we do a variety of fresh veg. And cubes of cheese with batters. It feeds 6 to 8 people. We eat a bit, talk a bit, eat a bit, play a game or two, eat a bit, open silly stockings, eat a bit. Its just fun. And all the prep is done as far ahead as possible. We also have a charcuterie board we all pick at. Its awsome. We have lft overs always and do stir frys with that.
@@FarmersWifeHomesteadyes we are in this together and enjoying learning so much from you. I am just wondering if you make your own onion powder I use so much. I'm trying to do what you do make it don't buy it...makes sense to me. And budget meals aren't budget like you said totally agree if anything they are wholesome comfort food that is far superior than store bought. 😊❤️
I always pealed my vegetables the day before, cut up, ready to just throw in the oven... even meat can be cooked, sliced day before, and just warmed in foil or gravy..
200 wow! I guess haven't realized I've watched & love so many. Ive learned so much from you MINUS CARAMEL, failed the 3rd time! SO I just bought a jar out of frustration. I'll try again when Im not so irritated with myself. Im a good cook, but not that for that! Still not sure what Im doing wrong, but clearly Its way wrong. Clumpy, grainy & yucky! UGH, Lol! TY for each & every video!
I play with food ideas n menu about 2 weeks out then nail it down the week of Christmas then start prepping what I can. I have a Vegan in the family so I have to stretch myself brain lol. Any ideas for a main or centerpiece for a vegan 🤷♀️
Hello Stacey, I have a question for you, My family have always bought a smoked leg of ham at christmas time. we always just open it up and take the skin off and start slicing the meat. But I have seen so many people on tv, putting the ham in the oven and baking it. Are you supposed to cook it before you eat it.?? and does this make it more tender. ??? I have been enjoying the 12 days of Christmas vlogs, you are so helpful and relatable , and fun to watch. ❤❤❤
I still waiting for the shout out. Do you clean your kitchen please? Cleaners arnt expensive. The way you drool over the food at the end of video, it's like you haven't eaten for 6 years.
I’m Sorry, not SORRY at all, but your comment is not WARRANTED AT ALL. You read as a TROLL, and if you don’t like Tracey enjoying the fruits of her labour, then JUST DON’T WATCH. I have made a number of her recipes, and they are worth DROOLING over.
@fannyadams8197 The shout-out you unfortunately will be only getting is calling you out on your bad manners. I have a very old and tired kitchen, with no amount of cleaning that will make it sparkle. Cleaners are expensive! Also if you are not enjoying the videos and the way I am in them. You can just not watch. I usually just remove comments like yours but today I am leaving it up.
