The feeling you get goimg there - I remember when I was standing at Old Byland battlefield and just being there to take it all in and wonder what it must have been like to be there, on that day and see all the carnage and chaos take place. It’s a powerful feeling you get. Like you say as well, wondering about all these people who played such crucial parts in what happened and even those who played little part or met their unfortunate end. Thinking about what it meant for Scotland too really hit me hard, Bruce was really on top of the English by that point following up the biggest victory for us Scots in Bannockburn and the battlefield itself at Old Byland is just epic with the features and the landscape 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🙌 great video as always Maxwell

Paul, Old Byland will certainly be one of the future projects. I will need a couple of days there...that is why walking the ground gives history a heart beat and a pulse, very necessary in bringing it all to life in the mind.

      I
Old Byland where the English king dreeped oot the windae and escaped.
Sutton Bank where the Argyle troops scaled the cliffs and got behind Edward IIs forces and gied them a fleg. 😂
The night attack on the English camp which almost captured the kings son and also the defeat of forces sent our from York.

Great view behind you👍 no place better in history to be, and you are right it is an awesome feeling to be in the midst of history. When I'm reading or watching, and even being at a place of history I can feel the energy of old that took place l even though it took place many many years ago. I to can relate.

Thanks for sharing that. History must come off the pages of the books and it only comes alive when walking the ground!

@@robertthebruce-geniusofban647 just think on the morning of the battle in 1314 the English seeing the Scots advance through that scene which was probably like that👍
