WARNING ⚠️ Traveling In The PHILIPPINES During Holy Week Can Be Tricky

- Travel during the Holy Week can be tricky. Starting on Maundy Thursday and through Good Friday the Philippines shuts down to observe the Easter holiday. It almost feels like the lockdown during the pandemic. Filipinos go back to their provinces on Thursday so the seaports, airports and bus terminals will be jam packed so make plans to leave on Wednesday if you can. Thanks for watching.

Everybody Follows your channel, Calvin. America use to shut down during Easter in the early 40s when everybody was more religious in this country. advice from someone participating in Holy Week, shop ahead buy your supplies and stay home. Actually the resort prices are much higher and many times the highways and roads are full of traffic trying to get from one place to another. If your not participating in the religious activities this relax and wait until the streets are empty again. Actually Holy week begins that Thursday thru Sunday.
During Holy Week, not 'everyone' goes back home to the province. Non-residents only comprise a small portion of the population of Cebu City. It's just that religious people respect the commemoration of the death of Christ Jesus so they stop working. Well, some really go back to their place of origin if the don't live in Cebu City. There is only one official 'non-working' holiday during the Holy Week: Good Friday. However some companies stop working on Maundy Thursday to give time to non-Cebu residents to be able to get a flight/trip back to their respective islands and provinces across the country as most public transport stop operating by Good Friday. Cebuanos are very religious that they everything stops on Good Friday, the only day in a year where they don't go to work. A few exemptions are establishments which provide basic humanitarian services such as hospitals or medical facilities.

I've been visiting my family since the end of March. This is the first time being here around Holy Week. Holy week!!! 👀 In one of the grocery store lines Legaspi the day prior was horrible. My wife and two kids was in line for 40 minutes. 👀😅 I will never do it again. Lol. You both hit it on the head. I will say there were a few restaurants open during those two days in Legaspi. We used Grab and Food Panda for deliveries. I didn't want to waste my time driving on those two days. Once again keep up with the good work my friend.

I normally avoid going to Philippines during Holy week but here I am now in Manilla. Thank God I did my grocery shopping before everything was closed.
