These dogs used primarily for protecting and herding the livestock. This is common actually if their is a threat they will take it out. Dogs have been doing this for hundreds maybe thousands of years.

People need to chill out. I would kill anything that was messing with my livestock and it looks like that was what was happening in this case. I love wolves, but if they get in to your live stock they will keep coming back just like any other animal would. It's better then the people who hunt them for pure sport when they are minding their own business.
Yeah but there's other non-lethal methods to dealing with predators that will discourage wolves from coming to your lands without harming them. So you should investigate and try those out first... then, if that doesn't work, take out the problematic animals.

I don't know what examples they are... I'm no farmer. I just know there's programs that help cover losses of cows/sheep etc taken by wolves and that will help the farmers utilize non-lethal methods.

I suppose that's true. But that doesn't mean killing other predators is the answer. If another method can be utilized safely, and effectively, I say it ought to be. Killing anything should always be a last resort. And done as humanely as possible.

I'm not attacking you. but do you not realize how much havoc wolves cause to farmers? if your raising cattle to feed your family or sell its not good to have a Pack of wolves in your area because they will wipe your stock out literally. in Yellowstone wolves have been recorded killing more than 10 deer or elk and not eating them. the population of wolves Has to be controlled. it's not about trespassing on it land it's about maintaining Life in it's order

Anyways, why do Humans get the right to decide "If a wolf kills one of our livestock, they don't have the right to live!" There are always better ways to solve the problem then killing a endangered species. I get if the wolves have plenty of food they don't need to kill them but it kind of is instinct to kill easier prey, the livestock are kind of meals on wheels for wolves.
+ReDFoX the population is thriving since they reintroduced them to Yellowstone in I think 96. and from what I've recently been told is that they are moving into other states. expanding their territories. so it seems to me like they are doing good so it's not necessarily a immediate threat to the species. I like wolves they are amazing animals but like all apex predator you have to maintain the population because they can over run. for example another beautiful animal the cougar in California is dangerous and I think 80% of the diet for those are our pets and it's always someone getting attacked out there but it's illegal to kill them so when wolves grow larger and are bold enough to hunt our livestock possibly our kids and it will happen same with bears everything needs control. it's other ways to do things yes but remove them to other areas then weaker wolves will be pushed out farther away which means they get closer to us.

Wolves are also know to eat baby elk and deer as their being born. They will kill anything in their territory just because it is there. They often kill and leave meat to waste. Wolves are dangerous killing machines. People underestimate what wolves can do and pretend their just like a house dog

I started 10 years ago with mixing some Sarplaninacs, Central-asian shepherds, Caucasian shepherds. Now I have good breeding dogs, only for new blood I use occasionally outsider male, to avoid too close inbreeding. I call my dogs Turknomad dogs, but they are of course not a breed in the occidental meaning of the word.
Ok. If you want search for a breed called Greek sheepdog. Sadly most of the images when you search in English google are of half blood dog's because this kind of dog almost extinct few years ago

You should put lots of city dogs in a 5-6 animals size packs to kill a wolf, you would be wondered that they can't do it.
