It has a shutter leaf, not a curtain. Shutter leaf does allow some benefits over curtain, like higher flash sync speed and a quieter sound. But a leaf doesn't allow as high shutter speed, but that's OK cause it's not a sports camera.
It’s a viewfinder not a rangefinder. You have a shutter volume control that works well. As it’s a leaf shutter so it sounds like it should…. Smallrig grip is an excellent addition to make it more secure when out and about. Film sims are great. Had mine since launch and love it. I use Velvia for nature and landscapes, Provia for most cities and Reala for people. Acros is good with its fine grain look too.
To trigger video, you don't have to go via the Drive button. Map the video trigger to Fn2 (in the centre of the view finder lever and one touch triggers video and a second touch stops it. Quick and easy. Your valid point about the Fn1 triggering video in the auto mode as opposed to the settings I need to explore (hadn't appreciated that, but as a video novice who seldom uses video I am not too fussed). This is my first Fuji 100 (the vi in black along with a WCL), but I have used Fuji camera/lenses since 2016. As you say, this compact camera (and it is compact in my mind) and it is simply 'fun' to use. Thanks for your views.
The question is not mapping a button to trigger video mode, but to trigger video mode in Manual control (especially shutter speed), as Joshua said in his video. I had a XH2s, sat Video mode to manual control, but when I trigger video mode when I’m taking photos in PASM, the video is also in full auto mode😢
I find sooc the reds are a tad too high, so I use -2 on red on the white balance setting. The red on Asian faces were just a bit too high. Additionally, I used reala ace with tone curve h-1 and s-1. Almost identical I use the same settings except Pro Neg Hi with color +1 to bump up the saturation. These two settings are almost identical except the pro neg high has a slight darker contrast. But again almost identical. I’ve been tweaking this for a few days and find these setting almost identical compared to my q2 sooc. Hope this helps.
7:13 its a viewfinder, not a rangefinder. I wish the X100 were a rangefinder like the Leica M, but its merely a "rangefinder-style" body. 7:21 EVF. The screen that pops up inside the OVF is an EVF. Also, the myth that the X100 is "compact" needs to die already. The Ricoh GR is compact. The X100 is actually pretty large. I say this is as an X100 owner.
Thanks for the clarifications, the terminology mixes my brain up sometimes. It's not as compact as a Ricoh, sure, but it is still smaller than most other cameras. Enough to make me set aside the A7Cii that has been my daily carry for some time

Thanks for the info, focusing on the actual type of shutter escaped me. I learned something today, much appreciated :)
Amazing camera got mine on Friday from b&h after 102 days of waiting, great shots
A nice film about your responses to the Fuji v1, and some lovely images !! Very useful, Thks mate.

Good tip! I'll try that out soon

This and the Leica M11 are amazing

LOL I just bought one too damn it
Great photos Joshua. What distillery was that you were at? If you don't mind sharing. Cheers!
Angels Envy!
@@jvtechtea Ok, now I'm officially jealous! Ive got a Lumix LX-10 that I love and would take to that distillery.
It is a leaf shutter, it is suppose to be quiet if you have ever known about leaf shutter lenses…
I'm interested
Are you getting one?
@@jvtechtea I want to

Why did they fuck up the launch so badly?
For real. They should have built up supply for an additional year before releasing it. Kind of a shitty move by Fuji and left a bad taste in my mouth.
You lost me when you started talking about the shutter and the curtain 🤦♂️
What can I say, I like a strong shutter feel

Dude it's a leaf shutter....they're quiet and dull. That's the characteristics of a leaf shutter bub
Fair, and I didn't use the terminology. Still, i personally would have loved it more if I could feel and hear it more
@@jvtechtea yeah so you don't want a leaf shutter bub
