When I listen to this album, it reminds me of when an old rusty truck starts it's engine again after sitting in the garage for so long... It doesn't have the crisp clean sound like it once did but still has some attitude and energy behind it... I like the album because it feels like they all have come back from some weird wonderland and now are coming back to their roots. Finding their foot hold in a new perceived world and angry about their demons...
after his rehab.. i think you can really see how exhausted he is...especially in the video "the unnamed feeling"... i love james he fought against his "illness" and won..!
this intro has been played by many metal bands all over the world, long live Metallica for giving birth to new bands all over, good or bad you guys are the best
Makes me sob crying….. if you ever felt like these lyrics you get it. Not in a bad way, haven’t felt the negatives like that in 5 years thankfully but it’s like an empathy and understanding that makes me cry. Someone’s understood where I was. James was in rehab when they made this, 5 years ago I spent 2 months at rehab and this is how it feels.
Ah i remember the red and black ESP kh-2. Kirks had some badass guitars over the years, would be nice to have a collection of all the one off ones you only see him play once or twice, like the tele style one he had made of acrylic before it was even heard of really, and he had a geeen gel swashing around in it. I think it was on "stunning cunts". 😂
To all haters of this album. You can't call yourselves real metallica fans by saying " I dont like this album, its not metallica". Well actually it is, its maybe the most important cd from metallica. You see, st. Anger is not only an album, it's a process the band is going through. This shows us what happens to all bands of the world, and the great thing about metallica is that they survived this argue-process. Long live Metallica, my first, and only heroes.
i said out of the bassists IN THIS GENRE OF MUSIC. because in metal its mostly about speed, wich is simple with a pick, but to do it with your fingers, takes way more talent
I just think that too. Its not easy play it with finger not pick. Really need loads of energy, tempo, and talent. Trujillo damn metal ! (Sorry for my bad english)
They had to do a reset. Sometimes you have to unplug it and plug it back in for optimal performance. This performance is awesome, if you imagine some random band playing it at a local bar. But for Metallica, the band who wrote "blackened," it's lackluster at best. But like I said they had to do a reset. I work in a factory, fixing machines for a living. Sometimes the issue isn't mechanical and the only thing I can do is cut the power and then turn it back on. Sometimes that works with electrical problems. Metallica is a machine, pumping out metal songs since the early 80's. They needed a reset. Death magnetic was amazing and hardwired was pretty good
@XxMetallica81xX YES! YES! I love this album. I don't like Invisible Kid, but don't hate it. I am so glad they write magnificent music. I love all albums. Sort of stuck in Load\Reload replay, right now. Moving on to Kill 'Em All, again, next. Thanks for the comment. Peace.
he was, now he only has experience and a big drum, he is the best drummer like he was some years ago, if you see the current lives of old songs you will see that he changes the drums on the song, make errors in moments and stay saying that it's the best!
tis best st. anger song by far. just noticed the Metallica star on James guitar, tis Awesum! on the 1st fret, and Kirks guitar pretty awesum! damn tht bass is strong too! :D
U gotta love this. Lars makes this video and song for me and hetfield with his amazing voice. But I prefer the official music video. Lars is just so aggressive with his kit and it's just wow. He isn't the most complicated of drummers but he does his shit very very well. Fukin love u metallica! You will never fucking die!
even though they made the best out of a bad situation and made a fucking badass album, some dopes can't be happy with whatever they do, though it doesn't surprise me, as most of history shows it
one of my favorite albums. the sound on the album is otherwise perfect but the mixing should resemble the live in studio stuff more. and the fucking snare sound is perfect for this garage metal idiots :DD
if i had to guess, i would say that the "unnamed feeling" is rumination cause the song seems to describe the inability to let go of memories, thoughts, and pain. i could be completely wrong but that's my guess.
I'm honestly not a big fan of slipknot, but it's pretty hard to deny that they did big things for the metalcore genre and to kickstart the heart of modern heavy metal. and that's more important than their music, which (as I stated) I'm not the biggest fan of...
st.anger is one of those albums that you don't listen to everyday however when you do listen to a song or two from it once in a while you really get what they were trying to do. trying to force yourself into submission over the album was never gonna work..its not easy listening. overall its a cool album but flawed.
I want to learn how to play Kirts guitar for this song and his guitar chorus cause I know they're tuned to drop b. If anyone knows how please let me know. I wanna learn the live version and not the cd version. Look at his hand placement in the chorus.
I really like St. Anger as an album and I can't see why it was so horribly bashed by many. Even though I don't like all of the songs in it (as is the case with Death Magnetic which is in my opinion their BEST album), I love St. Anger, Frantic, The Unnamed Meaning, Some Kind of Monster and Invisible Kid.

Exactly and it is beautiful
I think this is one of Metallica's most emotional songs.
Same @LeaveMeAlone-yt2mj
As someone who struggled with anxiety when younger, this song resonates deeply.
Lars is drumming the shit outta that fucking drumset!!! It's awesome!
after his rehab.. i think you can really see how exhausted he is...especially in the video "the unnamed feeling"... i love james he fought against his "illness" and won..!
4:20 always gives chills
4:30.
this intro has been played by many metal bands all over the world, long live Metallica for giving birth to new bands all over, good or bad you guys are the best
An honest song from an honest album. No fake shit, no self covers.
5:30 that scream....amazing
Makes me sob crying….. if you ever felt like these lyrics you get it. Calm down with all the "he made an error" comments that's why its titled rehearsals
I listened to that thing for like the 20th time this day. I keep repeating it over and over. I`m nuts.
This song is heavier than 2 universes combined. I feel like fucking Atlas trying to hold the earth on my back when I hear the intro of this video.
GuitarFreak881 Atlas, Rise
that quick riff james played at the very end was pratty sick...
That's the main riff/intro of Purify, which is next on the album and on the rehearsal setlist
one of my fave metallica songs
5:35 is just epic on the drums, A total stick your tongue out and rock moment. if your a drummer ya know what i mean.
I’ve said it plenty of times and I can’t say it enough. This album is so underrated! Long live METALLICA!
THANKS METALLICA FOR GIVE THE BEST MUSIC IN THE WORLD!!!!!!! SIMPLY THANKS
This is possibly the best song on this album, and to say the truth, It's my favorite Metallica song.
Rob is such a great bass player he plays with a lot of power and attitude
this should have won an award!
Sounds great with the snare on. Once you solve the snare problem, the songs are actually really good.
I just love how he screams: Get the fuck out of here,... james´voice is so incredible
Love you Rob, you're AWSOME !
His crabwalk bass technique sounds amazing and his helicopter stunt is out of this world in terms of creativity. Sounds amazing too
The best 7 minutes in my life XD
this album is KICKASS!!!!!!
I love this fucking song! Mean riff 👊🏻
I LOVE METALLICA
Damn! Hope They'll do some more down-tuned stuff in the future.
A melhor do St anger
Um BR aqui :)
james' guitar fuckin amazing
super good

it's another kind of music for metallica! it's something neww! i loveee drums on this albummm! :D metallica for ever!
i said out of the bassists IN THIS GENRE OF MUSIC. because in metal its mostly about speed, wich is simple with a pick, but to do it with your fingers, takes way more talent

2018 and still listening

The best song from St. Anger
St Anger is the most personal CD Metallica has ever made...
00:00 Lars: En, To, Tre, Fire! (One, Two, Three, Four)
absolutely agree!!
Peace.

a bass battle will stay cool to know who's the best!
i wish they did all their albums like saint anger... the other ones are too... usual... this is distinct and not ordinary
Nice song !
By the purple shirt, that is actually Lars', this is Rob's audition...
❤❤❤❤❤❤
it will be awesome
So that’s where the intro from the At anger video is from?
I always though the counting was a part of the song.
This song is the shit! One of the best on St. Anger definately.
You said it better. Holy be thy name, St. Anger.
´tallica rocks, and this song is so deep...fucking heavy.
Fuck this songs gets better everytime I hear it.
tis best st. anger song by far. just noticed the Metallica star on James guitar, tis Awesum! on the 1st fret, and Kirks guitar pretty awesum! damn tht bass is strong too! :D
this one sounds better than the one on the album
Haha Lars the start : en, to, tre , fire = 1,2,3,4 xD he is danish :D YAY !! :D
They've used it for the St. Anger's intro (video version, I mean)!!
@mikevayne1 I love it, it matches the low tuned cruncy guitar riffs
Actually the Counting that Lars Does in the Intro is in the Music Video of St. Anger, You know, *The Title Track*
So raw! :)
fuck they sound good here!
i love this album. it has so much hate!
@mopnem I personally love long songs. Nothing wrong with em but these indeed needs a solo!
5:36 is dying for a solo coming in right there.
But to be honest its fine without one too.
Reloaded!
even though they made the best out of a bad situation and made a fucking badass album, some dopes can't be happy with whatever they do, though it doesn't surprise me, as most of history shows it
@SoldierofFortune07 Duff McKagan does
Jamez FTW!!
@giants202 most def man this album was really good
one of my favorite albums. the sound on the album is otherwise perfect but the mixing should resemble the live in studio stuff more. and the fucking snare sound is perfect for this garage metal idiots :DD
garage metal. that describes perfectly the type of metal band i want :3
all right!
yes but that was very distinct and awesome
awesome tuning of lars drumset
I love st. anger
I have 2 St Anger CDs... i dont know why, but am not complainin!
Until now, I've never seen
Kirk play an ESP super Strat without a Floyd Rose.
They'll ever be a part of Metallica :)
i listen to Slayer and i like this album very much... only thing i dont like in this album is no solos :( but its good anyway...
i want that huge metallica flag in my room
gotta say he's improved a bit now, maybe he's starting to get in the routine :p
@consciousnessjam As much as i dont either it would have been good to have some in the album to
This song reminds me of And Justice For All
Liked and favourited before the song started lol.
if i had to guess, i would say that the "unnamed feeling" is rumination cause the song seems to describe the inability to let go of memories, thoughts, and pain. i could be completely wrong but that's my guess.
@rightious300 thank you
I love Jason with all my heart but Robert is a better player. (both are great, no question about it, they are part of Metallica!!)
I'm honestly not a big fan of slipknot, but it's pretty hard to deny that they did big things for the metalcore genre and to kickstart the heart of modern heavy metal. and that's more important than their music, which (as I stated) I'm not the biggest fan of...
Metallica fans say whaaaa
o.k. seriously I think they need to take these performances and put them on a live in studio album.
Lool at the end. "..............metal."
Can someone tell me what it is Lars shouts at the beginning? Is it Danish or something?
Anyone who has been through some shit in their lives can relate to St. Anger
@todor15 He is... it's just a lil hard to hear the ringing
@Thebattle5960 actually it's "vier" in german ;)
st.anger is one of those albums that you don't listen to everyday however when you do listen to a song or two from it once in a while you really get what they were trying to do. trying to force yourself into submission over the album was never gonna work..its not easy listening. overall its a cool album but flawed.

this is way better than the 1 on the cd
So heavyy..If only the songs where shorter and it had solos..would have been the next black album.
About a feeling that can`t be named.
I really like St. Anger as an album and I can't see why it was so horribly bashed by many.
