I started to listen DM 1982 when I was 16. Now that I'm 51, nothing seems to be changed. The guys are older of course, but their music is forever young.

This is seriously the only band that's still relevant after 40 years. They're just as good as they were then, true music legends.

Sean Smith it's better than anything from speak and spell or a broken frame.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Personally, I like their older music better than their newer BUT I'm still going to buy "Spirit" as soon as it's released.
Speak and Spell and A Broken Frame are my top FAVORITE albums. I like ALL their music, but those are at the top of my list.

I grew up listening to DM, they are the only band that stayed true to its style and after 40 years they are still fckin awesome and mindblowing in every possible way.. their lyrics always made me think through my reality and question myself many many times about my decisions and feelings.. not every artist can do that..

they formed as a band in 1977 and this is 2017 as I see it her math could be correct .There first album came out in 81 and I became a fan in 88 and have followed them since. Some people are lucky enough to see the beginning of a band I have seen a few bar bands go on to make it big so get the facts john before you judge others cause I guess history isn't your strong point.

So many people trying to pigeonhole this song into their own ideology. So hypocritical. You're missing the big obvious. It's about all controlling ideologies. Political, religious, etc. They're all self-serving and rarely serve the people. War and hatred. It's not anti-government, its pro-voice of the people. It's satirical in the sense that every sentence has a double meaning. "They Manipulate and Threaten with Terror as a Weapon" being the most obvious example. That sentence covers both a) governments that use the fear of "Terror" as control b) the ideological asshat terrorists that blow shit up. It's not one or the other.
The imagery of them pushing a pulpit around and saying what they need to say in order to gain votes, followers, or control (get on board, WE'RE the truly righteous ones, HONEST!) isn't isolated to any single government in the past. It's a part of all of them. Abuse and manipulation occurs and it's because there is rarely any true honesty behind the power of leadership & leadership of power. Anton uses historical imagery in the sense that Carl Jung does, as archetypes.
If anything, this song in the most simplest of meanings is an anti-propaganda piece.

I'm now 21 years old and dm is my whole life. They reach to my soul like nothing else can, it's incredible. Wish I could've seen them back then ❤️

I'm 17 now but listened to Depeche Mode my hole life too. Both of my parents grew up with Depeche Mode and they passed their love to me. I think it's great how this band amazes generations and generations.

- The Originality
- The Aesthetic of the Videos

- The Talent of the musicians and their ability to have alchemy, unity and play well together
- The Songwriting
- The References which allow listeners/viewers to relate to the songs and always come back for more.
Such artists or bands don't create songs anymore. They create Excellence !
This song "Where's The Revolution" is such a pure masterpiece, not only in the melody but also in the deep and meaningful lyrics.
This is the true power : when you have achieved success and fame at such a high level that you can afford to be above all these bureaucrats and politicians, and denounce all their schemes.

Thomas you are so right. Those of us that love the music of DM just can't help but like it and Mr Corbijn's interpretation and flavour ala Masses is excellent as usual. its just vintage DM!

Три раза была на концерте в Германии в разные года. Как во сне... Такая мощная у него энергия, слов нет, он самый лучший, очень уважает публику, полностью выкладывается. Это что-то Высшее. Обожаю уже 31 год.
А в России были на концертах?
@@NordTraveler Нет не была, я в Германии живу. Мы с сыном на концерты ходили в разные года, и сыну очень понравилось, хотя он другую музыку предпочитает. Самая благодарна я публика-это в Польше. Стадионы переполнены там, яблоку негде упасть. А в Германии публика сытая и зажравшаяся. Представляете ходят, едят, пьют. На группу 0 внимания. Смотреть противно. А ещё у него 2 альбома за 2015 год,... класс! Но это уже он исполняет не с "Депешами", Вы слушали? 👍👍👍🤗
Я с конца восьмидесятых обожаю DM были на концерте в Москве очень понравилось невероятное шоу

Depeche Mode is such a great band. What started as an electric pop band really evolved in one of the great rock bands of the last decades. And my God yes what a singular and great voice.
