Let this stadium and game be a reminder how far DICE fell. The fall of AAA quality games means caution for everyone no matter what even if your influencers say "ITs nice and amazing" trying to sugarcoat the BS and the preorders are just honey traps. New Idea for looking for shooters, focus on indie dev games since they arent being leashed by corporate heads
First time I got so excited about a game in a long time was when 2042 launched. I pre-ordered it because I thought it's going to be another BF3! That was huge when I was a kid so I thought it's going to be the game I play the most. But nope. Turned out to be a flop and I've been playing MW2 and MW3 more than Battlefield... So sad. Not going to be pre-ordering games any more. Used 80€ for nothing.
Its been almost 3 years since the game came out. What are you talking about preorder??? Why dont you just grow up and play something else instead of being salty for 3 years lol
now that 2042 is over i can 100% say that these devs fumbled the bag like ive never seen before... they had ALL the ingredients for a perfect battlefield game but just straight up pooped the bed... soooo many assets from all era's. soooo much content to work with... all they had to do was PRESENT IT PROPERLY!!!! instead of focusing on the actual battlefield, they focused on Specialist, STUPID BORING LORE, and just about everything except what the playerbase wanted. and now they are trying to tie this in with the next one?!? i dont know wtf they are smoking at DICE, but this title is COOKED.
i just gagged thinking about this... it totally gives me trash hourglass vibes. ill be playing and just think to myself "this sucks.".... then alt f4 and turn on youtube. if the game had a damn server browser i might would look for another map... the devs shot themselves in the face with these stupid decisions.
Hourglass conquest 64 was quite decent before the God awful rework. And this new stadium standalone map is awful unless you liked Lockers. Just random nonsense.
They had a whole mode dedicated to that, which we were all super excited for... They let it die by not supporting it. The mistakes made with the last two games are insane
I appreciate the gesture from DICE. But…uhh…yeah. For some reason, I still feel bummed out of this “new” map. Least they can finally move on from 2042. But remember: No high expectations for the next game Also, adding something in that empty space in the center of the stadium could’ve added more opportunities too. Like a clandestine military outpost? Refuge camp? Or maybe even a scavenger’s camp?
Dice taught me valuable lessons with bf5 & bf2042. I've been a battlefield fan since BC2. But I will never buy a BF game off the rip again. I'll wait to see what the reviewers say.
Just give us battlefield portal as a standalone game. Every battlefield with as many maps as possible and a halo forge level of customization. Guaranteed success... id also enjoy bad company 3
I think Activision started the problem because Dice tried way too hard to be similar to current COD games and less on battlefield while trying even harder to make it slightly like battlefield.
I'm sure many said that after Hardline... well, we got BF1 next. We need that sort of recovery... but it seems slim. AAA shooters are down the wacky skins rabbit-hole now, there's no way back.

However 1 and V did a great job of speeding it up but keeping the gameplay sensible. Some developers can do the fast combat and movement stuff well. CoD while that game doesn't interest me at all, it at least pulls off what its trying to do. With 2042 I think it just feels terrible. Odd stiff and stilted first person animations, its all just weird.

Honestly, BF2042 is a perfect example of a reason not to preorder a game for any reason even after 2 years of development. It’s like DICE learned nothing from BFV and went down the same path of greed. The game STILL has issues with hackers, bugs, poor map design, OP weapons, and has the least amount of content compared to previous entries such as BF1, BF4, and even Hardline. The amount of controversial changes that DICE doubled down on was baffling, from the specialist system to developers stating that a community scoreboard was a “brutal expectation” was truly unacceptable. I’m glad I made the switch to more realistic games like Hell Let Loose and Squad, so I don’t have to put up with this AAA BS anymore. A lot of people need to stop giving these AAA games the benefit of the doubt when it comes to games like this. Honestly, I don’t think 2042 ever reached a series of greatness to an extent. DICE did their two years of development, similar to BFV, after a controversial launch, made their money, and dipped.
this map is atrocious. can't believe this is the last map we get. plays like absolute garbage with the absurd amount of flank points and awkward navigation to each point. The gunplay in this game is SO satisfying and fun but the maps have been complete trash since the beginning. It's like they barely even tried. Even though I love playing Falck (partly because players barely drop ammo or revive / heal so I like playing her to administer everything), specialists were a mistake, and it shows in how difficult map design has been due to them (on top of the map designs just not being very thought out). It's sad to see how this game was mishandled from start to finish despite the hype at the beginning. I had so much fun when redacted was released and I'm going to remember that time fondly, but I don't think I'll come back to this game when the player base dies off. Might go back to BF4 once again now that it's over (and now that redacted / haven isn't a playlist anymore). I really wish this game at LEAST had a map voting system.
I was a massive, massive, fan of the battlefield franchise. Up through battlefield 4. All of the games dropped after that has lost the magic in my opinion. Feels too much like arena style fights. I miss the epic infantry pushes, tank battles, mortar barrages, heli support. There was the close quarters maps which were fun if you felt like it. I am sick of the "lets move on" mentality of the video game industry. Basically, I miss old battlefield lol.
BF2042 took many risks - 128 players, no more classes, amazing operator capabilities. It didn't work out, and they went back to classes and mostly 64 player maps. The game doesn't have many maps, but the fun factor from operator specialties is unmatched. Just watch squidG take out condors with a knife. Reminds me of the colonel from Battlefield friends. Let's not just shit on BF2042. Try it out, and you might have a lot of fun.

this map is atrocious. can't believe this is the last map we get. plays like absolute garbage with the absurd amount of flank points and awkward navigation to each point.
First map?
I was a massive, massive, fan of the battlefield franchise. Up through battlefield 4. All of the games dropped after that has lost the magic in my opinion. Feels too much like arena style fights. I miss the epic infantry pushes, tank battles, mortar barrages, heli support. There was the close quarters maps which were fun if you felt like it. I am sick of the "lets move on" mentality of the video game industry. Basically, I miss old battlefield lol.
I thought the game just got into a playable state
BF2042 took many risks - 128 players, no more classes, amazing operator capabilities.
