Sorry you were wrong,,, I am living in USA for 33 years. If you want to vote , you have to be a citizen. That means an immigrant have to wait for ait 5 years and then they have to apply for citizens application and the they have to wait for a series of processing then they will get the citizenship.....which means they have to wait for 6 years....then in the next elections you can vote.
