As a recent new owner of an XP10, some words of advice for anyone looking to use this as a personal phone: The charging light at the top is brighter than you think The volume goes much louder than you expect The phone is very heavy
Thank you so much for the video! It was very educational. No one here at AT&T wants to talk about this phone. I do not understand why the necessity for all the secrecy, but I could be missing something! My XP8 is about ready to die and I do not want to buy a Kiocera!
The hump on top is not for the antenna -a common misconception , it only houses the indicator LED. The antenna is physically located inside the bottom of the phone.
Hi Bryan! How is the camera on this phone? I own a package delivery company that works with Amazon and if my drivers are going to be using these they'll be snapping hundreds of photos per day to confirm delivery (and many of those will be taken at night/low light). I cannot find any videos reviewing the camera specifically. What are your thoughts?
How are you liking it so far? I have a Samsung active 8, from 2017. Been holding out hope Samsung would come back with the active series. I love my active. But its is definitely showing its age. I'm looking to upgrade, and leaning towards this one.
So far I am very pleased with it. It is quite a bit heavier than your Samsung but the durability and the warranty will more than offset that. If you aren't quite ready to jump to heavy duty, the Samsung X Cover Pro 6 might be worth a look as well
Yeah, I was looking at the xcover, but havnt heard positive reviews yet. My active is awesome. It got ran over by a snow plow 4 years ago and still keeps kicking. It's just starting to lag down, freeze, and over all just showing her age. Right now it's a toss up between the new xcover 6 or the sonim xp 10.
I went this route. The sonim xp8 has been 10x more durable. Better warranty. i broke multiple active 8s. I've had this thing for ~3-4 years. My only complaint with the xp8 is camera quality.
People say for Samsung the Xcover Pro or Pro 6 but I've had a Xcover Fieldpro for years and is the most rugged Samsung ever, but my XP8 is any Samsung times 100 stronger, don't like the XP10, not much of an upgrade and would rather have the physical buttons than onscreen
Ok I'm excited that sonim caught up with the times a little on the tech side, but is the 10 as tough as the 8? My whole family is rocking the 8's and I have some insane battle stories with them coming out on top. The 8 fits our lifestyle for the abuse side of things.
Hi Pete, the 10 is even bit as rugged as the 8. Pretty much the same dimensions and weight. Newer software, more memory, better camera etc. If you liked the 8 you will like the 10.
@@Bryanthecellphoneguy fantastic news. It was a bit of a sacrifice on the tech for the durability, but the strength outweighs the lack of tech. I ran my 8 over on soft ground with a cat D6 dozer one time when it fell out of my vest and it's still trucking to this day. They're just as strong (if not stronger) as the the Casio gzone phones. I can't brag enough on the true durability on them. Thanks for the response.
Hi. The 10 has the same durability rating as the 8 did. I have had my 8 for about 4 years now and am currently putting the 10 through the same lifestyle that the 8 lived and have had no issues.
@@Bryanthecellphoneguy The chipset on XP8 is the same as the XP10. People also think you get a bigger screen with XP10. You dont. The virtual navigation keys actually make XP10's screen the same size as the XP8's screen. So with XP10 you have a bigger phone than XP8, with a screen the same size as XP8. I've dream't of XP8 for years and wont be abusing it.
Very much look forward to your next video on this newest Sonim phone. I have the XP8. Love it, but sure would like a better camera (my only minor complaint with the XP8), so will look forward to hearing more about how the improved camera performs. Keep the great content coming!
How securely does the back cover stay? Because my current phone also only has screws on the bottom and unfortunately after dropping it a few times the top part doesn't stay all the way down/sealed. I feel this issue could easily have been avoided if the top part had 2 screws too. Please let me know as I'm looking at buying it, but don't want to spend my money on it if it has the same issue.
I have an iPhone XS I watch UA-cam, use social media etc etc and I want a phone with a replacement bettery I was thinking of the fairphone but I don’t see that coming to the us at this point, in your opinion given listed my current phone would this be an upgrade? Should I wait for something like a sonim xp11 for a nicer screen etc etc.
Bought this to continue using Zello in the field. The PTT is limited and can only be set to open applications. It can not be programmed as a push to talk. My XP3 works perfectly with PTT and the button acts as it's expected. Kind of bummed out. Battery and speakers are nice. Camera leaves a lot to be desired. Thing has potential but I'll be returning mine
FM RADIO is an accessory or was an accessory per the provided documentation offered by Sonim for the XP8800. The attached HEADSET was stated to be needed for the XP-8800. I had no success in finding the source for this in the past efforts. Perhaps the XP-10 will also be compatible for FM RADIO reception. This attachment would include an antenna. Could this be a false hope for those who would perhaps enjoy this feature?
Hi. The 8 had FM Radio but you needed to buy an adaptor to plug in a headset. The 10 uses the same adaptor but unfortunately FM is not offered as a feature.
Does the XP10 have less sensitive ptt/ermergency/camera buttons, or are they at least recessed a bit? I have had the '8 now for four years, and still cant pick it up without triggering something. PTT delay does little good when the phone is stuffed in a pocket or backpack with something up against the the button.
They are slightly recessed and there is a setting under "Programmable keys" which allows you to set a delay time for which you must hold the key before it acts.
Any idea if bell will be getting the phone as well I know you mentioned Telus , but I still haven't been able to find anything on their websites about the phone or a price of it?

No it won't work. The Canadian phones are firmedwared to only work with one Sim. If you want to use a two sim version you need to buy it from location where this is supported. You also need to use it on a network that supports dual sim.

"Only" 5Ah is pretty good. It will do 30 hours on phone call from 100% to 0% charge. In my own experience, about 16 hours of general use on and off runs about 40% down. Consider that this is a much more efficient SOC and that the battery is replaceable - You can swap it for a larger type if one becomes available. I see no reason you could not design & 3D print a new back plate to fit even larger batteries than stock in the back if you so desired.
