  • We love when a motorcycle is brought to us with its history intact. Paul bought this bike new when he was stationed in the army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in 1973 before he met his lovely wife. He calls this Z1 his "First Love.," and plans to hand it down to his grandson someday. What a privilege to work on such an authentic machine with a neat story to go with it.

    I don't know what is worse, being waterboarded or having to just be able to look at that
    Such beauty

    Fantastic job on this one too. I thought the winters would be boring without riding. The detailed explanation about each nut and bolt is always good educational stuff. Thank You Guys.

    That Sir is a 45 year old work of art. Johnny and Hilo are at the top of their game here. How could anyone look at that bike and not ride it. What the heck man. Great work JVM.

    How does one even begin to express with words the sheer beauty of this bike; the glory of old restored by the magic of JohnnyVintage is sweet music to the ears and a balm to the eyes.
    Watch your videos everyday and am at awe at the work you and your team do.

    Man that bike makes my heart palpitate. My 73 was a confiscated bike by the FBI who arrested the guy because he had a bomb inside the windjammer faring. I bought it at auction for 400 bucks and did a complete tear down and rebuild and the paint was like this one in perfect condition, got rid of the windjammer. Boy what memories..................

    It's amazing how little rust there is on these old bikes, The bike's they make now won't last like that, show sings of rust within a couple of years, well hear in UK anyway. Great to see these old bikes being brought back to life, They will still be going strong in another 40 years, Keep up the great work,

    The engine cases just suddenly appeared refinished- were they powder coated or was black paint used, and briefly what was the prep process?

    • @Johnnysvintage
      @Johnnysvintage  6 років тому

      These engine cases were de-greased first, then vapor blasted then powder coated. If you have any questions about these processes, you can call ACE Powder Coating in Green, OH: 330-896-9990. They do all our powder coating and vapor blasting and do a great job. Check out our video: ua-cam.com/video/fE8tUeBizI8/v-deo.html

    I’ve got a 75’ Z1b that I would rate an 8/10 with 14k on the clock. Everything is there and in really GREAT shape. Unfortunately not original paint. Has a 4/1 header which I want to keep. Much much better shape than this 73. I would like to know what it would cost to bring her up to snuff.

    Johnny how did the z1 series go was it z1 z1a z1b. I thought I remembered the hollow cams in the z1b

    • @Johnnysvintage
      @Johnnysvintage  5 років тому

      The hollow cams just came in the 73. You might be able to find them in EARLy 74. You are correct; Z1, Z1a, then Z1b, then came the KZ900s
