@@erichieger7386 Hey Buddy!!! The answer is actually different than both. What we're doing is sending different gain levels, from the sound source, at a range of frequencies. So the crossover is still working the same way, splitting out the frequencies between the BAs, just at different levels of gain. They would be attenuating the Bass region in the crossover, but we're over compensating for the attenuation. That or it's Magic and it just works... 😂
Interesting video, subscribed. Do you by any chance have the Simgot Supermix 4? I just got it from Linsoul on 11.11 sales for $85, but am a bit disappointed. To give a bit of background, I've had a lot of iems throughout the years, but all mostly in the budget sub 100 range. My favorites were the Blon 03, modded by removing the default nozzle mesh (which strongly improves clarity) and stuffing a bit of dried rolled up wet wipes to reduce sibilance. Then comes the HZSound Heart Mirror, which is an upgrade to the Blons in every single way possible, except for bass quantity. Adding a Y4 tuning filter on the bass vent fixes that. It's better than the Blon in bass quality, texture, mids, treble, air, sound stage, separation, imaging, even tonality, you name it. But it's still a single DD and gets congested in busy tracks. I did my research, and got the SM4 because of all the good reviews and decent looking graph. I was afraid that it might be too bright for my taste, but for the price - I risked it. I can't say it's a bad iem, it sounds fantastic, however.. they are indeed too bright for me and I find them quite fatiguing for long listening sessions. And something I didn't really expect from the graph - the bass doesn't really have that DD slam to it, even tho the set has 4 drivers, one of which is a DD. "decay too quickly, and you don't get that full feeling of bass" is a good description, I just don't feel the pressure/vacuum that I'm used to. It's like I can hear the frequency, but without the fun. That makes me want to increase the volume, but the thing is bright already, which leads to it being even more fatiguing. So I was kinda hoping for the SM4 to be an upgrade to the HZSound HM in every way, similarly to how it was to the Blon 03, but that doesn't seem to be the case, despite the high price difference. There are even some instruments that are feel like they're moved to far into the background and not quite as noticeable as they should be. The imagine, stage, separation is truly fantastic, but they just don't feel quite as "musical" as I'd like. Note weight feels a bit off and I don't quite get the same level of enjoyment. I don't wanna move back to the HZSound HM now, because the drivers do sound significantly better and the drawbacks of that set are now more glaringly apparent to me, but.. I just feel like the SM4 could be improved on. I tried using Penon Liqueur Orange eartips, which supposedly strengthen bass and tame the treble, however the effect was minimal. I tried applying tuning filters to the vents, but didn't get any useful results. I ended up just applying an EQ setting of +4.7db, 0.3Q, 30Hz, which allows me to listen to them at lower volumes, so it reduces fatigue, but I feel like they could definitely be tweaked somehow across the board and properly EQ'd to get an overall better sound. The drivers are definitely capable. If you have them, do you have any EQ settings you could share? Do you plan on making one for them?
Atrocious for the IEM makers to put DaVinci in it's name but the tuning is not that good. Just saying 😂 Not a fan of EQ/PEQ but now I'm considering it. It's great what you can do with it
You are doing the lord's work for this community man.
Good video as always!
Thanks Brother!
Anyone who owns a CTM DaVinci X must get Tim's PEQ! It truly rescued this iem from oblivion! Thanks, brother, it was fun!!!
@@mdevitre always a pleasure Mark
He made my monarch sound amazing

Brothers! So, technical question. What issues come with attempting to override the crossovers? Or are you essentially circumventing them?

Now I know where to tune in. Cheers gents...
