    Thank you for explaining the grammar! Sometimes I can see the only ING clause without subordinary conjunction, for example, " The boycott was tremendously successful, lasting for more than a year." But I don't know what the two clauses are which relationship has because there's no conjunction :(

    Hi there. Thank you for the grammar explanation. I was wondering about reducing adverb clause with "when" connector.
    Do we only reduce "when" in a passive sentence? Or both? Thank you.

    • @BreakingEnglish
      @BreakingEnglish  2 роки тому +1

      Yiu can reduce clauses with "when" in other circumstances, too.
      Example
      When I was driving, my phone rang = When driving, my phone rang.

    Hello teacher ! Can you explain the -ing form in your sentences ? they are gerunds or present participles . Thanks for the content

    • @BreakingEnglish
      @BreakingEnglish  3 роки тому +2

      They are definitely gerunds. An easy way to remember that is that gerunds come after prepositions so if you see a verb in the ing form after a preposition, it's a gerund. It will only be a vern if it has a subject and helping verb "be" before the verb in ing form. Gerunds are activities, so they are like verbs, but just not. Ahh so confusing. I know 🙃
