I'm so saddened, and tears fill my eyes, to hear this. How fleeting our lives are... ... it seems just yesterday I listened to those superb, inspired solos... ...even bought a Fender Mustang to be like him. He was WAY ahead of his time. A great, superlative player. Thankyou Jerry Cole, for inspiration you gave me. I became a real good player, lots of jazz, and chops, you know... ... you made me better than I might have otherwise been. Thanks deeply, my departed friend, JS
Jerry Cole was beond a doubt the GREATEST Musician's ever!! I was proud to have called him one of my best friends. I was on stage with Jerry when Donnie Brooks presented him his induction into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame.Rest in peace Jerry, there will never be another like you.
Jerry never lost a step! Why is there no availability or any info on the net about the "Back To The Boards" album? The teaser sounded great. A most frustrating situation indeed for his many fans. Thanks for this clip. Cheers!
Every song I have heard with Jerry on it (and it's clockin in thousand plus) I have enjoyed. RIP jerry. Constantly baffled how utlized yet unknown he was.
I used to watch that show religiously for ONE reason only: the incredible solos of Jerry Cole! Some very advanced stuff for the day, playing on, as I recall, a little Fender Mustang. Didn't even know who the guy was. I remember one particularly stunning solo on Little Latin Lupe lou. (not sure of spelling here.) he was backing the Righteous Brothers. A great, innovative player who deserved more recognition. One of the emails above seems to imply Jerry is gone... ...I hope this is not true. JS
A fantastic guitarist on a lot of the best surf & hot rod records. Also played on the early Byrds albums. Listen to the Gary Usher specials on UA-cam for more info.
Does anyone have insight into if the hardcore surfers in the early 60s even liked the Surf Music put out by Capitol? Was it passe? To my ears it's ahead of it's time.

I remember you in this riff guitar
Nose riding for youªª
what band and year, may I ask?
Looks like he ditched his Jazzmaster, but that sounds not bad on a Strat.
