Another entertaining, and very informative video Lee. No idea if it's koi teeth or filter material, but carbon will not remove dissolved carbonates, so will not prevent limescale. Glad you had a good time in France. Great idea about the stickers... Hi Lee, make sure your uv in the easy pod is fully submerged, mine wasn’t when I put it in my nexus and after a while the uv had damaged the top of the plastic housing, not sure what ea do to fully submerge theirs,
Retro drains have to pump feed to the pod .. unless you use a 3 or 4 inch retro drain then come through the wall of the pond at low level .. I can get 3 and 4 inch .. so you could gravity feed 3 inch retro drain through the wall to the pod and pump feed back ..
Great bit of teaching and also very funny - I agree everyone should have a younger wife. Did you say that the inlet on the Easy Pod is 1.5 inches? Lee, can you tell me where you reduced from 3 inches to 1.5 inches. Didn't really understand on video - probably my old age🙄😁. Thanks, Tony
Thanks Anthony! Yes mate 1.5 mistake but we all learned! Go from 3-1.5 at the bottom T you can see on the video. Next time I empty the pond I’m going to re do the pipe work bigger.

Speaking of ammonia and nitrites, especially on new ponds. Get yourself an biota bacterial activator. Then you can grow your own bacteria. Here in the netherlands its 65eu and it comes with enough to make bacteria for 200.000liters of water and a refilk cost about 40eu. Much better for the wallet then the of the shelf bottles and solves your pond spikes within 24/48 hours and van easely used once a week.
Great vid mate and good luck with the fitness plan😂 I was just wondering what size holes u put in your spray bar in the grow on shower. I’m in process of building my own shower and I’ve drilled 10mm holes but not sure if that’s to big. Looking forward to seeing u at the National 👍
I assume Jim’s liner is all in? Unfortunately most of the retro drains are pump feed. Seen successfully run ponds with them though. If you really want to gravity feed a retro return is a ball ache on a built pond, you will obviously need to be bellow the water level, you could pull water from a midway gravity return and retro fit a 3” tank connector by drilling through the timber and sealing into the liner. Unless you start again with a bottom drain 😓 you best option is pump fead retro bottom drain personally 👊

Hi Lee, Just watched this latest video, I was just concerned about your idea about water parameter labels, I think it's a great idea but you need to be really careful about the print process of matching the colours, I worked on the Repro side of print production for over 30 years in the label printing industry and the variation in printed colour can be huge, I'm guessing the labels you buy are digitally printed, it's the only way to get small run prints at a reasonable price, these are usually printed with CMYK Toner similar to a photo copier and the printed colours from a CMYK mix cannot accurately match a specific pantone ink spot colour, also the toners are prone to fading when exposed to long periods of UV light especially the Magenta. Speak to your print supplier and explain that the finished colours need to accurate and UV stable and also bear in mind the waterproof clear laminate plus the adhesive on the laminate or UV varnish can also have an effect on the finished printed colour. Hope this is of help. Keep up the great videos.
I love this channel! Iv got an expert in everything I’d like to do!!!!! Great help thanks Alan!!!! I’m going to do them black and white hopefully that will help 😎
Get that UV out of the easypod fella! Its killing off all ya bio media still. I would personally reduce the stock in the grow on mate. Way too many in for a new setup. Even when its mature you will be pushing it but its possible if you manage the water. Its gonna take a long time for that easypod to mature (even more so keeping that amalgam in 😜). What sort of lpm are you adding using the trickle in? During this time of the cycling phase i would have at least 1lpm on that pond, looks a lot slower. Forget all the gels and liquids just regulate the parameters using the trickle in.
Oh and you only want minimal feed during the maturing phase. Forget 2% body weight until after your parameters are in check. Koi produce ammonia even when not being fed. I would be feeding them maybe 3-4 times a week (yes a week) max until the filter has cycled.
You’ll be happy to know! The uv is now put down the inlet on the easy pod! The same as the uv variant hopefully that will do the trick looks neat too. I’m on about 1lpm at the moment I recon I will definitely check that though! I’m on 5grams a day feed atm from today! So I’m going to keep an eye on on the water see what’s happening!
