I really appreciate your comment - there was a mixup with the phrasing - the video is about directing players, and controlling their flow around your map.
Thumbnail image made me think you're teaching how to let players control the map. "Players controlling map". You've taught that layout can guide players to a desired extent before, and I was wondering if there is a way that would let players control more of a story. What clues would go into that and so forth.
Ways to let players influence the story? Integrate their characters' backstories into the campaign's or adventure's plot (facts, events, NPCs); use open-endness to allow them to choose how the story will proceed (present problems but don't expect specific solutions); don't always ask for specific checks, let them choose how they will accomplish a task or overcome an adversity. If you want the players to contribute to the story, leave gaps for them to fill ;) !
How do you get the river to look like that in the finished map? The coloring along the shore and around things in the water. I cant find a good tutorial for that kind of thing.
ALSO! DO NOT ALWAYS HAVE THE PCS NEED TO MOVE IN ONE DIRECTION ON ALL YOUR MAPS! If they always start in the north-west and head south-east. they will grow bored! Vary up starting and end locations! Hell, start them in the middle if you can!
Neat, that's a great tool. I just want to let you know, I've really enjoyed your channel and all the teachings you have instilled in me. Thank You for everything Guy. Much Love Brother.
Id like to get tipp's for offline map usage. Especially for implementing lighting to create tension. It seams so easy when playing online... But i guess ill only need it next halloweeen
Guy I think you have a lot of great ideas but sometimes videos like this can feel off-focus and more about the sponsorship than giving useful tips on running the game. There was no focus on how the players control this map, it was simply showing how this tool can make a map and how you can lead them. I'm usually a fan of your content and know this isn't the best you can create
Hello Jeffery, thank you for your honest feedback. There was a communication error and the title was incorrect - this wasn't about players controlling the map, it was about how the map can control players. So you were correct in what it was supposed to feel like! I have taken know of your comment though and look at it very seriously to make sure I remain true to channel purpose!
will the desktop version just be one flat price or will that be subscription also? most of these subscription services really need to end, they take out too much of your money without delivering enough return.
There are different models that will be available, however, dungeon fog has - for the last year - consistently released new content ever other month, and not small upgrades, massive ones, so I wouldn't be too concerned about not delivering enough from this company.
@@HowtobeaGreatGM yeah, but I make about 2 grand a week before taxes. I already have bills to pay, groceries to buy, car and house payments, 2 kids, and all my other subscriptions like Netflix and xbox live. it's much easier on me just to pay one flat price and never worry about it again. Especially when I know I would only use this particular program a few times a month.
clericofchaos1 Once Deios (the extension of the program shown, currently in development) is released there will be a one-time-buy option for the desktop app

I thought this was about letting the players control the map? You only seem to be talking about using the map to direct the players.
Seconded. Basically it's a 15 min ad for a tool and putting basic in it, but nothing in particular that really shows how to let people "control" map.

It says player, singular, controlling map. When someone says mind control they don't mean the mind is doing the controlling.

So I just watched both Lego movies and I wonder if I can use abunch to make maps that can be interacted with by the players, what do y'all think?
