Never walk right up to a thicket or brush pile and start kicking it, stop short of it and just stand still for a minute. The rabbits are just like deer, they get nervous thinking you see them and will bolt. That way you have a good stance right off the bat.
for brush piles a good tip is to use a long stick instead of stepping or kicking them. we just leave a long stick at each pile so no carrying it around
Great video!!! I really like all the action shots. Wearing your camera on your head gives us a good look at the rabbits as they tear off through the brush. Nice job!!
Good video man, well done. Beautiful day and good hunting. Too old to bust the brush anymore like i did for 60 years but, still go with a dog. Love it. Good luck in the future.
Looks like fun . I work more in winter. So I got more time to fish big lake. So I raze my rabbits. But I got 10 acres just had a guy drop off chrissmass trees about 40 I know what I m doing now . hell if I don't get out I will give u a call
I really enjoy watching your hunting videos. The quality is very superior. I got into rabbit hunting as a kid and still love it at 31. I gave up on deer hunting years ago here in W. Michigan when our private land got sold. Since then I have became more of a small game hunter and even convinced the wife to let me get a couple beagles to be part of our family and hunting partners. Keep up the great work on the videos.
I live and hunt in niagara region ontario rabbit kickin brush piles has always given me good luck on my rabbit hunts im up to 20 rabbits on the 3 properties i hunt this season
@@themichiganangler4746 Awesome video! Our rabbit population here in S. Eastern PA has really fallen off the last 10 yrs.. Need new gas rings / rubber ring, clean the gas ports (use a small drill bit) and remove clean and lube the slide / action follower where it goes into butt stock. I have a 1100 special field that used to do the same. Also if its an 1187, make sure you're shooting at the minimum 3 dram shells, they dont like any ammo under 3 drams... You can change the action spring to a lighter spring if you want to keep shooting lite loads..
@@themichiganangler4746 11-87s are great guns, but need full power loads, and make sure the rubber o-ring is in good shape as well. Too much oil can hinder it as well. I enjoyed the video too, thanks.
You more than likely have the wrong gas valve in your gun. There's a magnum load valve and a field load valve. My weatherby sa08 20 gauge jammed every shot with the magnum gas valve with field loads, changed to the field load valve, and it cycled every shot.
I’ve tried a few different loads with this and I’m having the same issue. I just picked up a box of the heavy load and same results. I’m dropping it off at the gunsmith next week and I’ll let them sort it out. Frustrating!
Just went rabbit hunting today and seen a lot of sign but nothing super fresh we walked over 2 miles and seen one go into a brush pile and I stomped for 10 minutes but it never came out. Was it just a bad day or did we not push right?
I’m actually pretty happy with mine now overall. They just need to be cleaned extremely well after each use and I haven’t had any problems with it lately

Awesome! Small game is always a great time and a great way to spend a weekend. Great shooting.
I totally agree! Thanks for watching!

Cottontails are delicious table fare!!!
Yep ure right I was I. Western michigan hunt and rabbits will go where it’s soo thick it’s hard on ya cause you have to reposition yourself for a shot
True!
My Remington LT20 will jam up the same with target load, went up to dove load and had no stove pipes.
Nice! I’ve tried alot of ammo in this thing and nothing seems to change
@@themichiganangler4746 You might try cleaning out the two tiny gas vents in the barrel
Looked like fun!! I see that 20 GA is still hanging up on you.. frustrating...
Great day!!! Thanks for watching!
damn! one of the best rabbit hunting videos i've seen, awesome style with the POV head mount. would love to see more rabbit hunting vids
Really appreciate that man! Definitely will be doing more!
Use a small crochet hook to get the fur out of the pellet holes. It makes life easier lol.
Good idea!
1187 doesn't like low brass..AWESOME video thanks for sharing.
Just tore it down and gave it a good cleaning and it’s cycling good! Ready for the next hunt!

Great video. I like the editing, I like getting the meat and potatoes of the video and not a lot of chaff. Also you must have semiautos well oiled.
Thanks for checking out the video!!

Great video are you shooting a 20 gauge tri star matrix?
That was my 20 gauge 1187 ! 👊👊
Really enjoyed thanks for your videos
Well that’s awesome thank you!
Looks like an 1100 or 1187,they can temperamental when not really clean. Great video I love rabbit hunting
It is very temperamental. This is the 1187 sportsman in 20g
I have a 70's vintage 1100 that refuses to malfunction, despite a less than stellar maintenance regimen.

I hunt with beagles it’s always fun
I’ve only done that once and it was a great time!
Good hunt. I'll be moving to Michigan in December. I have some good rabbit dogs, maybe we can get out sometime?
great video ! love the pov view and how you narrate the hunt! throw that gun over the bank and get another though! once a jammer always a jammer! lol
Lol thanks for watching!!!
What shotshell are you using-what gauge 20? are you using a Hatfield.
Looks like you love rabbit hunting just as much as I do.
Man I sure do! 👊👊
Heck yeah buddy. Great video
Quit workin so much and let’s get out!
@@themichiganangler4746 I know I know. My thought is if I work now I can have more time in the summer to fish.....🤷♂️
You’re not wrong!
Friend. Buy yourself a pump action 20 gauge M37 Ithaca instead. Problem solved. Four rabbits is a great day in the field.
I just love this gun though! I’m finding it just needs to be VERY clean and it works great
Love the video, ready to get out there and rabbit hunt once the snow starts coming down. I miss a lot more than you do!
I’m ready for it!!!

Go buy yourself an 870 Wingmaster. I have dumped many a rabbit with my 870 here in Tennessee. And not one jam ever after years of use!!
These cotton tails?
I think so
gun do not like low brass shells get some high brass and try them
What would you recommend?
@@themichiganangler4746 high brass 6's or 4's
I’ll pick some up! Thank you!

Dang! I’m not sure man that’s crazy !
Clean your gas ports on the gun and it will eject and reload properly....
Love the video. Ditch that gun! That thing sucks!
Lol right! So frustrating. I’m looking into other semi auto 20g shotguns now.
I thought 1187 20s were decent, I know most in 12 3inch shoot well(3.5 are junk)
I’m actually pretty happy with mine now overall. They just need to be cleaned extremely well after each use and I haven’t had any problems with it lately
I had issues with an 870 3.5 jamming in the cold I was using rem oil which I stopped using. I use balistol now
Time to buy a pump shotgun
I never hunt with dogs unless I'm hunting for waterfowl, I can't stand all that damn barking. If I kill it on land then I'm gonna go get it myself.
Coke 0.25 ?
I’ve so always wanted to go hunting but I don’t think I’d enjoy hunting and killing a deer. This or duck hunting seems like something I would do
Get out and give it a try! 👊👊
Walk slowly and stop often. They will get nervous and run . Just like stalking a deer. Stop and go.
Any rabbit hunting gown in arizona or just pickle ball lol??? 🐇
Lots of rabbits here and coyote. I did not bring any weapons with other than a pickle ball paddle :)
@@MIREALTORSTEVE well enjoy the warm weather!!!
