Thank you so much! I will send the finally product when I get it all out together. Can’t thank you enough. Will book a hunt in the near future
Thank you 👍
Thanks for sharing Jeff
Thank you for following along with us Joe 👍
What bits do you recommend for the foredom? Bought a bunch of 1/8 shaft bits but watching you your bits are definitely bigger and getting the job done faster. Thanks
I like all 1/4” cutters and the medium larger round/bull noise cylinder is my go to. 1/4” shaft in blue my next and then the 1/4” sander
@@JeffCoats do you recall which brand? I’m looking at Kutzall burrs but they have black (extra course) a silver color (course) and gold (fine)
Check out Foredoms page too
Good morning! I just watched your video while walking on the treadmill. Great tutorial. I always pick up some tips from watching new stuff, and this one was no exception. Thank you!
Thank you and thank you for following along with us 👍
Where do you get your wood for heads and what do you get?
Currently northern New York buy Maine and Michigan are good choices too.
Nice video Jeff. I like to learn from everyone. Heads are tough for me and especially doing a detailed bill. Good work and thank you.

Thank you Bruce 👍🙌👍
Pitt boss what grinder are you running?
Keep making videos. We will keep watching.👍🏻

Foredom Tool 1/8 & 1/4 hp models
Jeff, I am a new carver and am only interested in making gunning decoys. I really appreciate all your videos! Question - after you finish painting your decoys using acrylics, do you varish or use a matte water-based glazing topcoat (s)? I am using Golden and Jo sonja, Liquitex and Traditions acrylics. Thanks for your input!
Thank you and thank you for following along with us! I suggest Goldens heavy body matte and your good to go, just the paint alone no clear coat
Very good tutorial !
Thank you and thank you for following along with us 👍
Thanks for sharing your talent! Can you tell me what is the name/source of power carving bit you are using for carving in the eye channels? Thanks!
Thank you and thank you for following along with us! It’s a blue “fine” 1/4” kutzal cutter
Jeff, What size compressor do I need? I don’t think my 10 gal tank would keep that tool spinning very long. Great instructional video! You don’t over explain. I just want to know what time it is. I don’t want to build a watch.
Thank you and thank you 👍🙌👍
No air needed on 110volts with the foredom
Just found your videos and uploaded your podcasts that I’m looking forward to listening to👍. Do you by chance sell rough out blanks ( I do not have a bandsaw)?
Thank you and we appreciate you following along with us!! What species?
Black duck or mallard
Black duck or mallard
Jeff, loved the video. What is the type of bit you are using to take off most of the larger material? The thicker one.
Missed this my apologies!
The large Kutzall Bull Nose 👍
Good job!!
Thank you 👍
How are you using a burner to add detail around the bill?
Just burning like I’d use a knife to cut it in
where do you get those tools?
Check out amazon
Do you have a video on how to carve a head with a knife? I don’t own a fordom
Do you have access to a bandsaw?
@@JeffCoats yes I do sir
@@davidhaines4927 super- same concept them, do your bandsaw cuts and then knife like you’d use a foredom…. don’t have a video sorry but have done it at decoys shows- the better your wood the easier to knife carve I think. Style of knife too
@@JeffCoats thank you sir
What thickness is the head. Like a 2-4. 1 5/8 thick
2.75” cedar that I cut to 2.5”
Where do you order the wood and eyes
@@scottbronston430 alittle bit of everywhere on the cedar… eyes from Tohickon
Is that white cedar?
Thank you yes it is
