Russ’ stats and accomplishments are incredible but Oscar was more efficient and actually won a championship. So this combined with how iconic Oscar was/is for the game of basketball is why he will probably always be ahead of Westbrook unless he wins a title or even just shows that he can become a more efficient scorer and a smarter, more composed player when it matters most.

He was the first big guard and had a rare skillset for his time which allowed him to do something as ridiculous as averaging a triple double for a season and almost doing it for several seasons including his rookie season. Russ’ stats and accomplishments are incredible but Oscar was more efficient and actually won a championship. So this combined with how iconic Oscar was/is for the game of basketball is why he will probably always be ahead of Westbrook unless he wins a title or even just shows that he can become a more efficient scorer and a smarter, more composed player when it matters most.

@@deusexmachina1253 Curry winds up having less possessions/opportunities for these kind of assists than Westbrook simply because he plays off ball so much more. Westbrook is nowhere near the off ball threat that Curry is, and also doesn't have the auxiliary playmakers Curry does in Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, and in some sense even Demarcus. This all just leads to Curry having less impressive stats than he would if he were responsible for pretty much solo carrying a team like Westbrook.

The two players play different styles, on teams that play different styles. Stat comparisons will not tell the whole story between which point guard is better. Westbrook's stats are crazy high because he plays a style that yields crazy high stats. Tell me if you need me to put it in fewer words or if you got it this time.

@@deusexmachina1253 In terms of getting his teammates involved and getting assists, Curry could match Westbrook if he were in an offense that utilized him more like how the OKC offense utilizes Westbrook. Despite the fact that Westbrook gets so many assists, the Warriors have averaged 29.4 assists per game while OKC only has 23.1 during the regular season. As I have said, the reason Curry's numbers are lower is because the team has multiple playmakers/ball handlers. This being said, if we are talking about more than assists, which I was not under the impression we were given the fact that assists are what the original comment was about, I will say Curry is nowhere near athletic enough to ever get 20 rebounds in a game.
