- One of the most-watched videos in history is reimagined to celebrate the birthday of Christian the Lion.
In the 1960s, Christian was purchased as a cub at the exotic animals section of Harrod's Department Store in London by two Australian friends, Ace and John. When he grew too big, they took him the Born Free Founder George Adamson in Africa where he was released into the wild.
When Ace and John came back one year later, their reunion with Christian stunned the world and it has become an iconic example of the bond between humans and animals.
“Never Stop Missing You” is an original song by Gemma Shepherd, an Australian singer/songwriter, who fell in love with the story of Christian the Lion and wrote this beautiful tribute to him. She contacted Ace Bourke, who reached out to the Born Free Foundation. The result is this gift to Christian, and to you, on his birthday. Special thanks to Dame Virginia McKenna, Derek Cattani, Born Free Foundation & Ace Bourke.

It was devastating news to me when I learned about your father's departure. Conservation has lost a champion, a man of exceptional wisdom, sympathy and abilities.

I really cried alot when i first saw its story here in youtube, and everytime i see christian and i cant move on 😢 from being a lion cub bought from harrods dept store until the last time they saw christian in 1973!

This is one of the cutest & amazing Lion stories the world has fallen in love with. Christian was brought up with giving so much love & care he just grew up to be like another human Baby, so gentle & sweet.
I hope & pray that he lived a very happy life even after he decided to move on with having his own pride in East Africa.
It is a beautiful story. I like to believe that he lived a long happy life :)
