Thank You for the independent review. All the reviews I have seen of this stack were done by employees or friends of the retailer. Keep up the good work. Independent non-compensated reviews are important IMO.
Since you are reviewing headphone amps now I recommend taking a look at the Burson Soloist 3X Grand Tourer. It can apparently drive HE6 and Susvara with ease so I would love to hear what you think.
Thanks for this review. It's a simple amp that does a great job with planars. I agree with your comments on sonic refinement, but I also noticed that it put a little bit more emphasis on bass, compared to a Hugo TT2 (my reference amp). Another thing I noticed with its performance is that it is sensitive to IEC power cables. I tried no-name black cables, audioenvy ocean 3P, iFi SupaNova and JPS PAC silver cable and thought the PAC silver had the best synergy but was a stiff ergonomic nightmares. Also plugging directly into a wall socket was better than into a power conditioner (iFi Power Station).
I may have missed this but were the units left on for several days before serious listening. I’ve found these units change in sound quite a bit from cold. As I think all amps do but some have a more noticeable effect.
Inspite the xlr connections (both in and out) this amp is not a balanced amp, the xlr is only there for connector compatibility. The abyss folks have been talking about this in their podcasts. The xiaudio brodway is really balanced in its design, but the formula s is not.

This was the best review I've heard for the Formula S/Powerman. I found it very informative, thank you.
I got the full setup (Formula S, Powerman, Sagra Dac, and 1266) and I LOVE it.
Do you still own this setup? That would speak volumes!!! Trying to buy Formula S and powerman now.
@@kradulesk899 Meanwhile I got other setups, too. But i still own it. Don`t regret anything.

You forgot the section about needing to eat Noodles and Bologna sandwiches for 2 years to afford this stuff
😆 Is implied when I mention it's a $6500 stack.
The general consensus is only buy this if you have 1266 phi tc and you must get powerman.
When Is the HIFIMAN ANANDA STEALTH MAGNETS VERSION review coming
Does the amp get warm or HOT?
Great review Wavetheory!

Could you please review the Violectric V550/590. I'm curious as to how it would compare to this unit.
Sense of physicality, bass and dynamics comes from added distortion. It's not better or worse but that's how it works.
just buy it with XL inputs and you can use rca - xlr cables. I know Benchmark have such cables for around 100 Euros
The potentiometer start at 11 o'clock, non 10.... remember: "XI" :)
😆 Good point! But I live in the central time zone...
