I live in an amazing place called The Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate. It's located in the north-eastern tip of South Africa in what we call The Lowveld. The region is best-known for the Kruger National Park and our estate actually borders the Greater Kruger - a gigantic open wildlife haven that incorporates the Kruger National Park and all its private neighbouring properties to the west.
My wife, Tabby, and I have lived on the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate for just over 10 years now and finally I've decided to share this special kind of living with you. A life where you are constantly surrounded by animals and where we all share this paradise we call home.
In this first episode I give you a bit of a lie of the land and tell you what you can expect from this new series. I also show you where's I've placed my first four trail cameras with which I plan to capture what the animals that live here are up to when we aren't looking.
If you'd like to sponsor one of these awesome solar trail cameras, please e-mail me on info@thesafariexpert.co.za and in return I'll not only name the camera after you, but I'll also give you the opportunity to decide where I place it.
Enjoy episode 1 of The Wildlife Estate Diaries!

Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate is absolutely stunning. I’ve had the pleasure of staying there a few times. If you visit, reminder to respect the speed limits, not to feed animals and just enjoy the wild!!
I preferred walking around the 2 family Farms as a Teenager in Sabi Sands as a teenager long before Lodges and Game Drive Vehicles
I love your videos they always inspire me and they are a great guide and of course amazing entertainment!
Thats so true
Please share more about the leopards there
You must be close to Herd as i follow Adine every day.
Genius idea Villiers, looking forward to this series!
Excellent video Villiers. Your content is brilliant. Think we need to purchase a property in Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate now 😊
Really enjoyed this! We have just moved to Plett from Ballito and always said to my wife if we had not moved here I would love to live in that estate. So glad I found this channel.
8 minutes flew by so quickly. This is already an amazing series.
This man Villiers is indeed a brilliant wonderful friend to have, the two of you are truly blessed to have him getting you to move ❤😂
Love this! Fresh and unique 🙌🏼 looking forward to watching this unfold 😁
Thanks Cathan 🙏🏻 Can’t wait to she the adventure with you all!
Looking forward to the rest of this great series!
This year I had a dream that one day when I am an adult, I will have my own company that does safaris and wildlife conservation. We were situated on game reserve here in Africa and we were all happy, I hope that I can accomplish this dream.
You will
I really enjoyed this Villiers. I was surprised how few videos are out there about the different wildlife estates around Hoedspruit. I’m thinking of purchasing a property in one of the estates within the next year and videos like this helps a lot to get an insider look.
Maybe you could do a series on the other estates as well after HWE
very cool! I have heard about this development for so long and have always wanted to know/see more about it... thanks for this series, looking forward to more.
I must say you so privileged to stay on such a beautiful estate. I wonder we do have such estate in Pretoria. 😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Looks like heaven! city life sucks 🤣
This new series is so cool! Just letting all of us live vicariously through you by showing us around the amazing place you get to call home….brilliant!
I love watching your videos and get wanderlust every time. I would love to go straight to the airport afterwards and fly to Africa. The videos help me to bridge the time between my trips. I love to see more of my favourite animal the honey badger and some photographic tips as well.
South Africa, Africa has 54 countries.
Really looking forward to this series! I've stayed at the wild dog inn a couple of times, before heading into the SS. I really like the HWE and surely will be back there. Spend some time in the photoblind at the hamerkopf dam 😃
Thinking of buying property there. How much is the levies?
@@olivierjohan2321, we pay just over R2000/m and that includes our water usage.
Thank you Villiers.
Beautiful! And sounds are so peaceful ❤
Hi there
Is it possible to rent a house in the Estate? Me and my wife might move to Hoedspruit at the end of the year
Hope to hear from you
@@wernercoetzee5402, yep, you can 👍🏻 But rentals are hard to come by. Chat with any of the local estate agents.
My dream to visit this place to live in the house and anymals come to the house every day I give them food , this is incredible ❤❤❤ but I so much scare snake and spiders😂
Man I love this, you motivate me to keep making adventure videos
Hi Villiers, great video as always and great new series! BTW, where did you get that T-Shirt? I have been looking for something like that for a long time!
I think it was from African Apparel 🤔
@@TheSafariExpert Thanks, I found them but it seems they're not shipping outside SA. Too bad actually as SA has quite a bit of great brands that would do well abroad!
Looks like a great place. Drove by, never been in. Will watch more of this kind of content.
You sure do Villiers 😎Love HWE and this puts us right back there(till we return in person again). Even as a visitor I've seen 16 different mammal species on HWE including leopard, not to mention the countless birds species and hearing lions and hyenas from Pridelands. Love doing night drives on the estate as well. Looking forward to more.....thanks 🙏
Wait. A leopard in the estate? How do you stay safe?
We are just always super careful!
Absolutely love the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate! Our short holiday there two years ago was nothing short of magical. Our 11-year-old twins still vividly recount their incredible adventures at HWE to all their friends back in Ireland. From thrilling game drives and exhilarating bush walks to peaceful hide sessions, horseback riding, and the endless array of birds and wildlife, every moment was unforgettable. We can't wait to return soon! Looking forward to your next Wildlife Estate video!
Currently looking for ways to move…😅
Looking forward to this series! Great idea 💯
👍👍
Paradise indeed 🎉!
This is an epic epic episode 😎
This will be an epics series. For a couple seeking B&B options for short term stay could you recommend a local website which details more accommodation options? Or would approaching a local real estate agent be better?
Check out Africa House first - it’s an awesome place to stay! Other than that, just do a seach on AirBnB or Booking.com - there are so many options
Can't wait to watch ep2❤
Super excited to see the rest of the series!!!
This is going to be great!
I'm lucky enough to live here.
If it wasn't for my two dogs, I'd move there tomorrow .
Dogs are allowed. We have two too 🐕🐕
@@TheSafariExpert Snakes, leopards - that's my concern.
