I ain't gonna lie . This is what the hobby definitely needed .
We the hobbyists win when brands compete.
@@rcdriver exactly
It soooooo needed this!
Another rc car? 😂
Poor people are gonna get shafted out of 860 bucks when they should’ve bought an XMaxx! Lol
Looks like it took cues from both the Traxxas Xmaxx/XRT and Arrma 8S Kraton/Outcast platforms, has similarities to each and is a value in the segment. Nicely done.
My favorite features are the things it DOESN'T have: proprietary steering servo, proprietary battery connectors, a bunch of aluminum for the sake of aluminum, and a ridiculous price. Thank you Redcat!
Also, great review as usual Greg.
👍
Bro if you cant afford other brands just say that😂
Just when I couldn't decide what to get they drop this giant!
Redcat stirring things up with some goodies!
Looks like will be better to wait. A lot of new stuff is coming out.
If your trying to decide between this and a XMaxx. Don't get fooled by redcat lol
@ramsay4804 I already had a XMaxx was deciding on either a super rock ray or this. But might even just get a 10th scale crawler since mines a little worn out. I have had good luck with Redcat in the past and liking the new tiny crawler. What do you think the Short falls of this rig are? Maybe someone that bashes hard needs one to test its durability. I did like how beefy the xmaxx was built but I do like the lools of this truck as well.
*_This is the most fun scale for those who are real RC enthusiasts! I wish more manufacturers would just jump on board with larger scale creations!_*
*_Way to go REDCAT!_*
Redcat coming in clutch! HELL YES!
There's so much win here! Redcat killing it!
These guys are movin!
This is hands down a giant kaiju! I said they should do this and they delivered. Hell yes! Finally redcat good job!
I agree!
Love my original version 1 kiaju, my son and I were just beating it up yesterday. I'm not sure what's still holding it together
@@keithcerce8445 sheer awesome engineering! That is one of the best rigs hands down. I love mine. I drive it under our golfcart while my wife was driving and she ran it over! I drove after that without an issue even after smacking into a tree on the same battery. Lol. Good stuff!
43 was that a short runway. Ive seen others claiming more.
Love the looks of it. I'm a sucker for square body trucks.
Redcat said in their live stream there are metal dowels inside the chassis at that split. They also mentioned it is all set to take the 200 amp ESC and larger motor. I like they put limiting straps on the truck from the factory. Solid review as always Greg.
Why doesn't it come with the bigger ESC?
@@kenmastersmaster Probably to keep the cost lower. Ask them.
@@BlueDually4x4 lower than $900??? Might as well get the overpriced Traxxas. This ESC can barely outperform my 150a esc
I think the simplicity is the best thing about this truck, in a good way!
I can't justify buying this over an Arrma Kraton. With that said, I might just do it to support another company so that we can keep the competition going. We need new releases like this to keep Arram and Traxxas on their toes. Otherwise, they get lazy with releases when they have no competition. I have the Kraton & XRT. So far the Kraton has been a much better truck. The XRT is always breaking. The stock motor mount is horrible. For some reason, the XMAXX is much more durable than the XRT even though they are the same platform. XMAXX and Kraton EXB are kings. Team Corally came out with the 1/8 Kagama which is an indestructible beast. I would love to see them make a 1/5th scale 8s version of the Kagama in a truck body and wheels. That would really drive the competition.
Arrmas are garbage. I own 2 and they break every time we run them and we’re not even hard on our RC’s. We own 6 Redcat’s, crawlers and Bashers and they’ve never broken. Redcat’s engineers do their research and make things better than their competitors at a fraction of the price
The XRT is that bad
Farmer!! Dang man I didn’t know you were still even online. This is Panhead from rcgroups. Remember me? Man we miss you over there on the forums, Barbwire mod thread and related forums from years ago were peak RC time. We miss you! Hope all is well man!!!
Right on , man! Thanks for the awesome breakdown and shout out!!! Always great reviews! I'm liking the looks of this one!!!
Much needed, redcat is coming with back to back to back drops 💯
Redcat has surprised me more than once. They really are a decent brand. Nice to see them stepping it up these days. This one's a looker!!
They just kicked in the door with this beast...simply beautiful!!!
Got the Chevy Vibe going. Chrome wheels. Finally, an rc that looks different than traxxas cookie cutter looks.
The cowl hood is sick too!
This things LEGIT 💯
It looks just like a traxxas lol. The body and wheels make it look unique.
That’s one thing I absolutely hate about the xmaxx is the generic Chinese looking truck body.
Good stuff as always. The limiting straps got me rollin!!! That is awesome!
I’m impressed with how balanced it looks jumping, cool rig!
Yup, good general setup. I have a little tweaking planned for it. Should do even better.
@@rcdriverI can't wait!
This one is quite fun to just watch. Neat truck! Great review. Redcat is really stepping things up.
So smooth. Thanks for the sweet content.
Definitely pick that over an XMaxx.
The fact that it has a true 5th scale servo along with a SIMPLE layout is a great selling point.
Cool truck, it’s nice to see it being driven the way I believe most of us drive! An honest opinion too. Really enjoyed the video. Thank you
This truck looks and appears to operate awesome... Super happy about the power combo
Awesome truck and great review as always Greg!!👊
Thanks! It was a fun truck for sure!
Great video. My favorite part is you pushing up and down on the suspension
Even if I'm not thrilled about a release, I watch all your vids for your insight and learning about RCs with your detailed reviews, Greg. Thanks for the great content!
Thanks!
Same
I enjoyed watching that truck. I like how it handled. Breaks seem good. I like the way it is setup.
Nice review the runs at the end were cool.
Its deff getting our attention more and more❤
Bravo great review and run of this truck!
I like what I see with this. Reason being is I can see the aftermarket like M2C for example making some sweet bracing etc etc etc for this.
If m2c gets involved this thing had potential to become a beast. The scale look is awesome
I doubt m2c will support it unless it becomes extremely popular
@@jaredchampagne2752they just did a post asking who is going to buy it, they probably make some aftermarket parts
I love the clean look.
Looks good. First it looked like a big savage flux but then the chassis sort of has the xmaxx design.
Those jumps on the track were so smooth and stable.
Xmaxx definitely got a new competition now.
It's awesome!
Looks promising. Way to go redcat. Good review Greg! 👍
I'm really feeling the old Chevy body look. Well done redcat
Love those monster trucks
Great addition to the hobby world. Nice that redcat is stepping up their game. Ide buy one
Nice. I imagine parts won't be an issue. Great review as always!
Wowza! That is a beast!
That body looks so good ❤. I like it!
Nice!! I love the license plate. I used to live in Tucson AZ for 10 years. I love AZ. 🤜🏼🤛🏼
Thier 1st kiaju..... mint, quality control on the 1 I purchased.. top notch. I see thier still using grease at the assembly plant... very good
Great, informative review 👍🏻
Man this thing looks awesome. Wish i could currently afford another rc. Would definitely be interested in this vigilante
I definitely give them an A for effort. It looks amazing and in stock form it should be fun as it seemed to be in the video. If your after looks more then speed an durability at a good coast this is it.
This is awesome!
Everything that happened on that test run is exactly what I've had happen to my xmaxx 😆 the front bumper mount and the rear pins lol
Crazy! Redcat is on a roll! Now to save some cash to get one someday😂😂😂😂😂
They’re really stepping it up!
That track is a blast. I watch a ton of your videos and I wanna go out bashing some time. We usually go up to falcon on the weekends and we bring some heat for sure
I’ll try and head up there some weekend
This thing looks really impressive.
I really like the limiting straps... im thinking about adapting this to some other rigs I have.
Man looks awesome 😊 Pete
The truck looks really good 👍
I luv it I think it is awesome. Great video.
Cool. I've got the Slash 4x4 VXL and it Rules!!!
Viewed from above the lower arms look decently heavy duty, but when you show that front on view you can really see how huge they are. I'm impressed. If the diffs can hold up to 1100 kv this thing might be the move
I’m might just have to get this truck, I like it!
Sweet baby Jesus I so wish we had these in the uk 🇬🇧
Cmon Redcat start letting us have them , you make some awesome trucks that we can’t play with !
I for one would most definitely have one of these if I could .
🤙
I swear I saw a comment saying Redcat would ship to the UK. No idea if it'd be worth the cost tho.
wow,looks good!
Thanks for the review! Love that you actually went through the whole thing! It looks like a good truck. What about different bodies?
Not sure if Redcat will offer other bodies. But with the adjustable mounts, it looks like some aftermarket bodies can be adapted.
@@rcdriver that’s good to know! What do you think about durability in bashing?
This thing is a beauty 👌
Falcon BMX in the house! Nice review - seems pretty fair.
Very interesting truck. Looks like it will only be a basic basher, not an extreme basher for sure. Good looking rig though. 🤘🏻
Aside from a couple details like the taillights being wrong, and the door handles being in the wrong spot, these things are awesome. Being a Chevy square body fan, I want one
Looks like a beast! Seems Redcat is makin big (and small) moves!!!
I see what you did there 😆 Absolutely my friend!
I absolutely love the body and yes the hobby needed this and the tires are a big version of the Kaiju tires. I just ordered one through red cat.
It's a Great looking truck. Reminds me of its little brother HSP Octane 👍👌
Great video got to get this truck 🛻 👍🏾👍🏾🔥🔥
So true about the Redcat body…but bring on the nice new aftermarket bodies!!
Not sure if it's as big as the Losi's but, I like it.
Shock fluid looks a bit thick I reckon, since it was bouncing slightly on the jumps. Certainly isn't an extreme basher, but it will do good on the track. Overall a great truck, and great video too, good job
This is Awesome! I want to see this bad boy with some Jconcepts Monster wheels and tires!
Nice truck . Good review . Big scale is where's its at !
Ive had good performance and luck with my Redcat Shredder , which they call 1/6 scale .but looks bigger that this .
I don't consider it a basher, but the extended chassis makes it drive and handle very nicely .
This is, at best, 1/6 scale. They are probably calling it 1/5 because arrma has gotten away with it so far.
Great Truck 👍🏻
Excellent review. The truck looks great, I really appreciate them having the look of a real truck instead of a spaceship. Keep it up Redcat, this is your window to kick some Traxxas and Arrma ass.
I spoke to Redcat on the phone right before the new year and told them I was heartbroken they were discontinuing the MT 10e and how it’s my favorite 10 scale monster truck of all time for the skate park. I reminded them that even though the Granite is unbelievably tough and may be faster out of the box, it couldn’t touch the MT10e in durability once the servo savers upgraded and you add the front and back chassis guards. We even spoke about the Rival MT10e and how everyone thinks it’s the toughest 10 scale! And TRUST ME it’s not! The Rival just like the Helion Avenge will eventually break at the front bulkhead and that’s why they sell them so cheap. It’s brutally tough, but no way is it as tough as the old Redcat MT10e! That thing once I upgraded the servo saver was probably tougher than my Tekno MT or my Losi Ten platform. In fact, it’s probably the toughest RC I’ve ever had out of over 50! Tougher than my serpent or my Mugen! The point of this story is they told me three months ago what’s replacing it is going to be tougher! 😂 I told them I doubt it but cool, and the guy said we tested it extensively it’s going to handle better and be tougher. Which would mean this is the toughest Redcat basher ever made and in my opinion if they’re right this could be one of the toughest RC’s ever made! Problem is, I don’t believe it! 😂 but I’m sure this is going to be super tough.
Looks great way better than the one in fifth scale from five years ago
I love the looks of tgis truck, and might be what finally gets me into fifth scale. It always seems like there's some little tweak here or there that is needed with the Redcat Vehicles. Fortunately, these issues you pointed out seem rather minor. Always love how in-depth you go with looking over these.
Yup, it’s all minor stuff and tweaking like any other car. Redcat did a nice job on this release!
I like it. I like it. It needs a big gee pinion and maybe a stronger servo.
Great job on the video. This truck looks pretty cool. The seam in the center of the chassis is weird and doesn't seem to be a problem so that is good. I break the bumpers on almost all of my vehicles. I think I have bad luck.
I spray my new plastics with wd40 and let soak in over night. I get so much more life out of everything I soak with wd40😅
@@surfside75 I have heard about this wd40 method. Might have to try it. I usually can fix the bumper up with some zip ties and some chunks of high density foam. That will get a handful of more runs before I completely trash the bumper and put a new one on.
How tough was it to get to the center diff? Curious for maintenance and whatnot. What does it use for a center axle? A tube like traxxas or bones? Had a bit of rear hop on the bigger jumps. Could probably limit that a bit with different oil in the shocks. The max6g2 system would probably perk it up a bit. 43mph did seem a bit slow... then again, my xmaxx was slow with stock gearing/motor/esc in it. Having a system to put it at 60mph feels "fast" to me with belted or wrapped tires. At least they didn't lock things in like traxxas to force you to buy a aftermarket motor mounts and whatnot. Nice review!
Wow another Vigilante review😜
Really hope it stays durable. I remember the rampage r5 being super weak and breaking diffs and body posts. That was based on a hsp vehicle if i remember but this looks like their own design so thats better.
RC racing is so much fun. I been race rc since I was a teenager, I know how it's done. My brother likes it but he's intimidated by the tech and looking around the pits and he sees the stiff competition and he backs away from it. My son does the same thing.. it's just a toy car and I love it, it's fun...people get insecure and don't want to lose look like they don't know what they're doing but it's part of learning how to race an RC car LOL
beautiful truck i wish i had space for one but i dont want to get rid of the xmaxx!
Good stuff brother!
Thanks brother! Fun times with this one!
Excellent price point. Redcat clearly took inspiration from Traxxas and a little from Arrma. But the wheels and body are definitely eye catching!
I’m a big redcat fan and honestly think they done a killer job on this one, everybody bashing on redcat but sorry arama’s are garbage and break if you look at them wrong. Great review and thanks for sharing with us.
It looks like a giant Traxxas Hawk! I love to tires and body.
Man.... that would sure look good in my garage / living room .
Haha same
Nice truck. Kinda iffy on the body choice but can easily be changed. Redact is def making some nice stuff!
Agree, body is kinda basic. But can be easily changed once the original is thrashed. 😄
It looks like this is going to be a lot better than the R8 mistake.
I was quite excited to get the email from Redcat announcing this new rig. But seeing it in action, I gotta say, it seems a bit sluggish. I would definitely want a castle setup in there, as well as a better servo. The bumper would need some upgrades also, as that thing is going to take a beating for all the serious bashers. I'm curious what backflips would be like stock, but being little sluggish, I'm guessing it's not the best at acrobatics.
Great video, good looking rig, I like that there are other options for the body, as that thing will get torn up.
Keep up the awesome reviews, I know I truly enjoy them!
Does the esc support the wifi OTA module? Trying to find info on it but coming up short? It’s it a Generic dumb down Max6?
Great review as always. Not a BIG fan of this rig. Waiting for my Ascent 18 to come this week. Excited for that one.
Exocaged Joe put thick diff oil in the center diff and it made a huge difference in power distribution
Sweet truck! Redcats on a roll, I hope they never get consumed by Horizon Hobby!
