  • This Nixie based looking spectrum analyzer is absolutely amazing. What you see are not real Nixie tubes but tubes of my own creation. It uses pixelleds that where fitted into a glass laboratory tube. The electronics is using a pure analog design to isolate all the different frequency bands. No need for hard to find IC’s and no FFT. The ESP32 is used to process the analog data into visible bars. ( Pixelleds)

    Mark, since you made that nice wooden box, you should have added a PAM8403 and get two speakers to the left and right of the tubes ..

    Cool project for sure! :)
    Wondering how it would look like with the real deal stuff, and by that I mean IN-13 tubes.
    BTW "nixie" here is kind of a misnomer, since nixies were historically numerical only (that's where the name comes from), later on the family extended to all kinds of symbol displays - numerical, special symbols (like the measurement unit, sign or AC/DC in meters), segment displays. Basically anything that displays characters using neon (or other noble gas) glowing on a cathode bent to shape. So, I wouldn't call IN-13 nixies, since they're bargraph displays :)

    This is way cool! What was the cost of the board if you don't mind me asking? And you said it is available with small components already installed?

      Yes pre assembled pcb is available. Please check the link in the description

      @@TheElectronicEngineer It seems like there should be more going on in the higher frequency lines. Normally the highs are quite dominant aren't they?

    • @TheElectronicEngineer
      @TheElectronicEngineer  Рік тому +1

      @@notny41 it depends. When using mic input, upper frequencies are limited because of the mic properties. Line in is way better

    The video mentions not to use the same value variable resistors but I don't see any reference in the documentation was to what those two values are.
