I like this song because it’s about someone who’s identity has been robbed, to the point where they’d do anything to get it back, to where he will keep trying just to get to where he was before. He doesn’t have evil intentions like the other exes. He just doesn’t want to be replaced. He wants his spotlight again. The “faker” took everything from him. His friends are dead due to the merge. Yet sonic (scorched) thought hog killed them. Him all alone obviously grew a hatred for him and seeing that he took his spotlight as-well made hog what he is. A broken soul who has nothing to lose. He’d do anything to beat that “cursed hedgehog”.
Faker/EXE and Hog/Scorched are two different kinds of characters. While yes they may have the base concept of an exe that transforms, their stories and motives are VASTLY different. Hog and Scorched happened to have a similar base concept, but they aren't expies. I'm.. kind of tired of people shitting on them just because they're "bad replacements for Faker". They weren't.

I love that the six other EXEs that he shifts into are paired off between "Terrors beyond the void causing misery for the fun of it" and "Earth-born entities that do whatever they can to alleviate their own misery (even if Fatal isn't exactly a ghost like the others)" It's like his mind is being torn between not just getting revenge as Scorched and doing what he knows is right as Sonic, but metaphysically to try and see where on the scale he falls and if he'll be happy with that reality. Also that tiny little "not again..." from Hog as Scorched starts barging in was like an emotional jumpscare.

He got the Scorched side. In short, they share the same body, but Sonic/Scorched is like a "secondary" character. Hog saying "not again..." makes us think this has happened before. And then? [Beep!] After that, Manual Blast starts. As it goes on, Scorched is TRULY revealed. And finally, Scorched/Sonic completely destroys the drive, erasing everyone but Boyfriend inside. (assuming he gets teleported out.) He asks for his name to not be forgotten before this. Does Boyfriend ever forget? Possibly. But to me, no. A hero deserves his legacy carried on, Hog was NOTHING compared to Sonic. (That is the entirety of the lore in a short summary for you.)

This is by FAR my favorite song in the vs.EXE soundtrack, and Scorrched's lore having him delete and corrupt the game at the end of it would've made a perfect meta Segway into him deleting the mod folder from your PC since he's one of, if not the last song you do. And the other exes being referenced in his corrupted sprites and lyrics shows that they are all in the same game/folder since his assets are being pulled from them, so him deleting the entire thing would've been such a poetic way to send off the mod. 11/10, will have this on repeat for 5 hours
If that is the case, then the lines “Don’t pursue, Turn the page and start anew” would be seen as Scorched telling the player to not redownload the mod since the mod could be seen as the cage Scorched refers to.
love how Hog is just singing and having fun, even using spin attacks to keep the song interesting, then Scorched is just saying "HE TOOK EVERYTHING FROM ME" repeatedly.
I love how when Scorched takes over he starts with the usual Sonic laugh but then it descends into a new sinister, demonic laugh. It also represents the character for obvious reasons, but also because Scorched seems like he tried to live with just being Sonic and being forgotten. After he realized he didn't want that, Scorched took his anger and revenge out on Hog's world, descending into madness.
I love the use of backing vocals during the glitching part, actively swapping between not just lyrical references to past covers Sayo and Maimy arranged, but the actual voices of Lord X, Sarah, Fatal, X-terion, and Xenophanes. Giving that section the context of Scorched slipping from ungodly rage to absolute despair makes it hit extra hard
i only can really hear the voice of xenophanes and sarah, the others just sound like scorched but with different effects, fatal I can sort of hear when he says "dont pursue" and i cant hear xeno at "yet this chaotic ballad will keep spinning round" and "past" X-terion sounds alittle strange, too.
Its a bit tricky since, even as talented as they are, the backing vocals are two people trying to perform six separate voices while also being on a lower volume to avoid drowning out Zac's performance as Scorched. But you can hear a more distinct growling tone for Lord X, a radio-like distortion effect for Fatal, and an approximation of Big Man's take on X-terion from Maimy's Mega Collection.
Scorched's powers when the song was made involved being able to enter a glitched state that let him act more unpredictably at the cost of scrambling his coding even worse. I figure Scorched glitching through their faces was his code being so unstable that it began referencing the graphics of other "Sonics" as he tries to reassert himself as the actual Sonic of his universe.

Honestly after reading up the lore of Scorched... I feel bad for Sonic in this story since it isnt really some dumb rom hack corruption/demonic void entity that caused this to him. It was just a rom hack to morph Sonic's game into a pirated game that just literally did a copy/paste gimmick of ripping off Sonic while the real cast was stuck in a void.. Love how you turned the plot into Sonic/Scorched's lyrics of his descent into insanity & the 5 stages of grief
what I'm really impressed about is how far you've come with your channel when you used to have lyric videos without voice acting and now you do, I find it impressive and after watching this I will say this is probably the best lyric video you've done so far hog and scorched's VAs also did an awesome job
I love how each voices quote represents the charcters situation. Such as needle mouse referencing judahs from the finale giving her a chance to be free. X-terion referencing the fact that he worked on a game he would be eternally trapped in. Fatal error referencing the fact that his creator originally made only to collect data. Only two I don’t really understand is xenopahnes and lord x.
Xenophanes saying 'I'll always stay ahead, no matter the cost' probably means he'll go out of his way to be the best. Lord X saying 'You've seen this play out on the edge of insanity' references to the human souls he tortured again and again and again.

while I believe that some parts could have been better, mainly the fact that theres parts where the notes dont really change at points, when it hits it HITS. The fact you were even able to pull this off is impressive honestly, bravo for that!
I think I've just witnessed something more than a lyrical adaptation or whatever we call these things. This was nothing, and I mean NOTHING short of an absolute masterpiece. Yea, Hog's part wasn't too on-tune, but that's perfectly ok. The banger arts, animation, lyrics, and Zac. Zac oh my god. Bonoan was great, don't get me wrong, but Zac absolutely knocked this out of the damn park and then some! I just want to give praise to everyone involved in the making of this.
Everything about this is amazing, the vocals, the lyrics, Scorched glitching into different vocal covers, and of course the "I WILL NOT BE REPLACED" being used for its intended purpose, this is cinematic as hell

I'll be honest, when I saw Bonoan and Zac in the title I thought one was voicing both Hog and Scorched and the other voiced BF, I am happily surprised with this though! The background vocals are amazing too!
Something I only just now noticed is that near the end, when Scorched’s face is glitching, you can occasionally see Scorched’s actual face for a split second.
I feel like this song is inconsistent because there are parts that are simply crazy good and jaw dropping, but at the same time there is also 3:22 to 3:34 where it feels really out of place, like something breaks... but oh boy the good parts are many and are amazing! gj for this!

... Besides the fact that: 1. Hog's part is pretty cheerful and upbeat, fittingly. 2. Scorched's part is just... so much raw emotion... 3. The lyrics fit their respective character perfectly.
Holy crap everyone killed it with these lyrics, Zac took the spotlight as Scorched and my god the ending was by far the best part it gave me chills. You have outdone yourself with this one.
*Cracks knuckles* Hoo boy. This cover is amazing on so many levels, each one deserves to be expanded upon. 1. While some comments say that Hog’s part is a little weaker, I think it is completely justified here. This song isn’t Hog’s song. It’s Scorched’s. Additionally, the parts that are offbeat or off key help convey the feeling that something isn’t right, as well as convey the idea that Hog is meant to be a bootleg of sonic. 2. Zac would probably be in Scorched’s good graces for making his portion memorable as hell. The almost animalistic growling compliment his savage appearance, but there’s a hint of Sonic’s voice to remind you of his origins. You can feel every bit of emotion here. 3. The lyrics for both characters are perfect. Hog’s part has the upbeat yet sassy feel you expect from most Sonic songs with lyrics, showing that he’s definitely got that classic Sonic personality. The little “Not again” during the transition really makes you feel bad for the poor guy. He knows the terrible things that are about to happen, and he’s powerless to stop it, pleading helplessly. 4. Scorched’s lyrics fit his character like a custom made glove. You can feel his rage at being stuck in a, as he puts it, mockery of his own world, forced to share a body with what is essentially a replacement for him. And with lines like “I have caused distress and I’m okay with it”, it’s clear that he knows what he does is wrong, but that no longer matters to him. However, there’s also some lines that imply that there is still some good left in Scorched. Whether this is a remnant of Sonic or Hog trying to regain control is up for interpretation. It’s also clear that he wants his friends back. But most of all, he doesn’t want to be forgotten. So he’s decided that if he has to be a monster to be remembered, then he’ll be a monster.
I think the whole losing hope thing should have been left out, because refusing to give up in the face of quite literally impossible odds is just as much Sonic’s thing as going insanely fast is, I mean, the boss fight against perfect chaos takes place in a watery graveyard, there is no fixing things, and yet sonic fights anyway.

It's strange that it's Hog and Scorched singing this. With how they were portrayed, and how Scorched was trying to stay relevant, it made me think back to EXE, and how Revie's framed accusations cost us an already great idea that would have been done earlier. My interpretation of Hog and Scorched is this. MY OPINION. DO NOT FLAME ME. Hog and Scorched are both sides of EXE revived from the depths of oblivion, changing their looks and identities to allow their universe to stay within the realm of existence. However, it seems something keeps them from returning, hence the glitchy faces we see of portrayed monsters that still stick around.

I was wonder why the font was changing colors during the glitched part, then I realized that the different colors represent the different EXE’s and you can even hear their respective voices.

I like this song because it’s about someone who’s identity has been robbed, to the point where they’d do anything to get it back, to where he will keep trying just to get to where he was before. He doesn’t have evil intentions like the other exes. He just doesn’t want to be replaced. He wants his spotlight again. The “faker” took everything from him. His friends are dead due to the merge. Yet sonic (scorched) thought hog killed them. Him all alone obviously grew a hatred for him and seeing that he took his spotlight as-well made hog what he is. A broken soul who has nothing to lose. He’d do anything to beat that “cursed hedgehog”.

Faker/EXE and Hog/Scorched are two different kinds of characters. While yes they may have the base concept of an exe that transforms, their stories and motives are VASTLY different.
Hog and Scorched happened to have a similar base concept, but they aren't expies. I'm.. kind of tired of people shitting on them just because they're "bad replacements for Faker". They weren't.

I love that the six other EXEs that he shifts into are paired off between "Terrors beyond the void causing misery for the fun of it" and "Earth-born entities that do whatever they can to alleviate their own misery (even if Fatal isn't exactly a ghost like the others)"
It's like his mind is being torn between not just getting revenge as Scorched and doing what he knows is right as Sonic, but metaphysically to try and see where on the scale he falls and if he'll be happy with that reality.
Also that tiny little "not again..." from Hog as Scorched starts barging in was like an emotional jumpscare.

In short, they share the same body, but Sonic/Scorched is like a "secondary" character. Hog saying "not again..." makes us think this has happened before. And then? [Beep!] After that, Manual Blast starts. As it goes on, Scorched is TRULY revealed. And finally, Scorched/Sonic completely destroys the drive, erasing everyone but Boyfriend inside. (assuming he gets teleported out.) He asks for his name to not be forgotten before this. Does Boyfriend ever forget? Possibly. But to me, no. A hero deserves his legacy carried on, Hog was NOTHING compared to Sonic. (That is the entirety of the lore in a short summary for you.)

This is by FAR my favorite song in the vs.EXE soundtrack, and Scorrched's lore having him delete and corrupt the game at the end of it would've made a perfect meta Segway into him deleting the mod folder from your PC since he's one of, if not the last song you do. And the other exes being referenced in his corrupted sprites and lyrics shows that they are all in the same game/folder since his assets are being pulled from them, so him deleting the entire thing would've been such a poetic way to send off the mod.

love how Hog is just singing and having fun, even using spin attacks to keep the song interesting, then Scorched is just saying "HE TOOK EVERYTHING FROM ME" repeatedly.
I love how when Scorched takes over he starts with the usual Sonic laugh but then it descends into a new sinister, demonic laugh. It also represents the character for obvious reasons, but also because Scorched seems like he tried to live with just being Sonic and being forgotten. After he realized he didn't want that, Scorched took his anger and revenge out on Hog's world, descending into madness.

I love the use of backing vocals during the glitching part, actively swapping between not just lyrical references to past covers Sayo and Maimy arranged, but the actual voices of Lord X, Sarah, Fatal, X-terion, and Xenophanes. Giving that section the context of Scorched slipping from ungodly rage to absolute despair makes it hit extra hard
i only can really hear the voice of xenophanes and sarah, the others just sound like scorched but with different effects, fatal I can sort of hear when he says "dont pursue" and i cant hear xeno at "yet this chaotic ballad will keep spinning round" and "past" X-terion sounds alittle strange, too.
Its a bit tricky since, even as talented as they are, the backing vocals are two people trying to perform six separate voices while also being on a lower volume to avoid drowning out Zac's performance as Scorched. But you can hear a more distinct growling tone for Lord X, a radio-like distortion effect for Fatal, and an approximation of Big Man's take on X-terion from Maimy's Mega Collection.

Scorched's powers when the song was made involved being able to enter a glitched state that let him act more unpredictably at the cost of scrambling his coding even worse. I figure Scorched glitching through their faces was his code being so unstable that it began referencing the graphics of other "Sonics" as he tries to reassert himself as the actual Sonic of his universe.

Honestly after reading up the lore of Scorched... I feel bad for Sonic in this story since it isnt really some dumb rom hack corruption/demonic void entity that caused this to him. It was just a rom hack to morph Sonic's game into a pirated game that just literally did a copy/paste gimmick of ripping off Sonic while the real cast was stuck in a void.. Love how you turned the plot into Sonic/Scorched's lyrics of his descent into insanity & the 5 stages of grief

I think I've just witnessed something more than a lyrical adaptation or whatever we call these things. This was nothing, and I mean NOTHING short of an absolute masterpiece. Yea, Hog's part wasn't too on-tune, but that's perfectly ok. The banger arts, animation, lyrics, and Zac. Zac oh my god. Bonoan was great, don't get me wrong, but Zac absolutely knocked this out of the damn park and then some! I just want to give praise to everyone involved in the making of this.

Something I only just now noticed is that near the end, when Scorched’s face is glitching, you can occasionally see Scorched’s actual face for a split second.
I feel like this song is inconsistent
because there are parts that are simply crazy good and jaw dropping, but at the same time there is also 3:22 to 3:34 where it feels really out of place, like something breaks...
but oh boy the good parts are many and are amazing!

1. Hog's part is pretty cheerful and upbeat, fittingly.
2. Scorched's part is just... so much raw emotion...
3. The lyrics fit their respective character perfectly.
Okay, now we need lyrics for BF's parts, and it should be perfect.
Holy crap everyone killed it with these lyrics, Zac took the spotlight as Scorched and my god the ending was by far the best part it gave me chills. You have outdone yourself with this one.
*Cracks knuckles* Hoo boy. This cover is amazing on so many levels, each one deserves to be expanded upon.
1. While some comments say that Hog’s part is a little weaker, I think it is completely justified here. This song isn’t Hog’s song. It’s Scorched’s. Additionally, the parts that are offbeat or off key help convey the feeling that something isn’t right, as well as convey the idea that Hog is meant to be a bootleg of sonic.
2. Zac would probably be in Scorched’s good graces for making his portion memorable as hell. The almost animalistic growling compliment his savage appearance, but there’s a hint of Sonic’s voice to remind you of his origins. You can feel every bit of emotion here.
3. The lyrics for both characters are perfect. Hog’s part has the upbeat yet sassy feel you expect from most Sonic songs with lyrics, showing that he’s definitely got that classic Sonic personality. The little “Not again” during the transition really makes you feel bad for the poor guy. He knows the terrible things that are about to happen, and he’s powerless to stop it, pleading helplessly.
4. Scorched’s lyrics fit his character like a custom made glove. You can feel his rage at being stuck in a, as he puts it, mockery of his own world, forced to share a body with what is essentially a replacement for him. And with lines like “I have caused distress and I’m okay with it”, it’s clear that he knows what he does is wrong, but that no longer matters to him. However, there’s also some lines that imply that there is still some good left in Scorched. Whether this is a remnant of Sonic or Hog trying to regain control is up for interpretation. It’s also clear that he wants his friends back. But most of all, he doesn’t want to be forgotten. So he’s decided that if he has to be a monster to be remembered, then he’ll be a monster.

I think the whole losing hope thing should have been left out, because refusing to give up in the face of quite literally impossible odds is just as much Sonic’s thing as going insanely fast is, I mean, the boss fight against perfect chaos takes place in a watery graveyard, there is no fixing things, and yet sonic fights anyway.

It's strange that it's Hog and Scorched singing this. With how they were portrayed, and how Scorched was trying to stay relevant, it made me think back to EXE, and how Revie's framed accusations cost us an already great idea that would have been done earlier.
My interpretation of Hog and Scorched is this. MY OPINION. DO NOT FLAME ME.
Hog and Scorched are both sides of EXE revived from the depths of oblivion, changing their looks and identities to allow their universe to stay within the realm of existence. However, it seems something keeps them from returning, hence the glitchy faces we see of portrayed monsters that still stick around.

1 year and this song still is one of if not my favorite song. I just feel the song its perfect for every situation it has a story and its exactly how you think scorched sonic would sound truly a masterpiece.
