His ball control reminds me a little bit of Messi just in terms of how he likes to hold and dribble the ball a little and at the same time defenders usually come swarming in with committed tackles and he'd have to make a few turns shielding the ball away from opponents. Xavi on the other hand also likes to attract defenders too before playing the pass but he hardly ever gets swarmed and doesn't like to hold the ball too long so his movements look a tad graceful in a way. Both however simply possess an immaculate level of precision passing skill.
for me pirlo has pretty basic skills in football..nothing too fancy..simple yet elegant..but his understanding of the game what makes him the best..that's why I adore him..
I agree to a point. The man was the best passer in the world for a long time - baring in mind there were players like Scholes, Xavi, Fabregas, Alonso, Gerrard, Schweinsteiger kicking around - Pirlo was a better passer than all of them. That's nothing to do with basic skill
