In one of the podcasts about "energy efficiency", you've talked about the energy efficiency metric as the data rate vs power consumption ratio, but when it comes to IoT, e.g., sensors, this metric has no sense (since shannon's capacity cannot be considered). What would you suggest as an alternative definition of energy efficiency metric in an IoT network ?
I think the main goal would be to carry out the intended task with as low power consumption as possible. The important thing is to consider all sources of power consumption, measurements, computations, connectivity, etc.
