    Herd of elephants bathing happily in the lake at Kaudulla National Park.
    This park was designated A National Park in 2002 by the then minister of wild life Mr Rukman Senanayaka the total extent of this National Park is about 17250 Acers. Kadulla National park situated 197 Km from Colombo. There two routes to approach this National park one route is from Habarana Via Hataras Kotuwa Galoya road and the other route is from via station junction rotawewa road. The kaudulla tank has a capacity of 104000 acres feet. After entering to the national park there are 3 routes to visit the Tank. Door 9, Door 2, and Pattiya Road. This tank provides water to cultivate 13000 Acers of paddy fields.
    Usually the visitors enter to the park to watch elephants during September, October, November, december. But due to climatic changes now it is possible to visit the park during any time of the year during a safari it is possible to witness around 10 to 12 tuskers when it comes to elephants the amount would be more than 400. Other animals in this park include deer, samba, wild boar, monkeys and migrant birds. Most of the migrant birds arrive to the park during the months of November and December. The migrant birds, black headed ibis, painted stork, who travel from Siberia and Australia never return to their countries and they stay at kadulla forever. But the spoon bill will stay about two months and return to Siberia again.
    The best time to visit Kadulla national park at 02.00 PM and opening hours 06.00 AM to 06.00 PM.
    Occasionally in this sanctuary bears and leopards can be seen. There is an animal museum which consists of animal skeletons out of the 24 endemic birds in Sri Lanka the following birds can be seen in this Sanctuary. (Sri Lanka blue magpie , Sri Lankan jungle fowl , Serendib scops owl , Whistling thrush , Old World babbler, Sri Lanka grey hornbill, Sri Lanka hill myna, Green-billed coucal, Yellow-eared bulbul, Layard's parakeet,
    During a peek season usually 300 to 400 safari jeeps enter to the Kaudulla national park with the visitors. The following are some information use full for a visitor.
    There is a circuit bungalow called Manik sorouwa which is located in the park. The following hotels are very close to the park and can be reach quickly
