75-year-old Kiwi here.
Brings back memories.
Opening Wellington Airport.
RAF Vulcan - came in to land - too low - hit a berm before threshold - ripped off one main gear - dangling back!
Full power - flew to nearby RNZAF Ohakea base ~120miles
I can still see the 4-plumes of black smoke as struggled to gain altitude and speed!
Landed on foamed runaway.
Everybody walked away.
Plane repaired by Kiwi's and flew again!
Wow! Great save !! 👍🏻👍🏻💪🏻
Yes it was! 👍
Beautiful aircraft and excellent flying. One of the most classic jets, anywhere!
Couldn't agree more! Thanks for watching. 👍👍👍
Great stuff, nice scale down construction, having witnessed the real thing fly many times it evoked a few memories. Especially the gut wrenching feeling the engines 'noise' gave you when it turned before you. Sorry to see the front wheel damaged but great save with the nose cone scrape landing.
Glad you enjoyed it... No worries. Jamie will have it fixed before this weekends event if it isn't fixed already. Thanks for watching. 🙂
Nice save. It looked like it was going to t-bone the fencepost. It looks great flying and not a model you see all the time.
It's been one of my favorites... Thanks for watching and commenting Brent. 👍
Jamie gave me a pull on this Sunday morning- flies like a trainer. No yaw issues, rock solid. It’s built light and it slows wayyyyy down like a big wing should.
The only thing missing is `The Vulcan Howl ` Very lucky to recover from the first landing attempt..
Great save! Glad you got it back in one piece.
Nerves of steel, incredible recovery man
like the way you kept cool man
Great Save!
The nervousness of the model, rates too high?
Slightly slow on the 1st landing attempt. The Vulcan tends to wallow as it slows down, as seen in the video. The SR-71 also does the same thing if you see any RC videos of slow flight. To do with a small vertical stabilizer.
Great save.
Great save! It seemed a bit unstable in the roll axis. Was it windy? Or is that beauty a little touchy? Again, wonderful airplane and great job saving it.
Yes and yes and yes.... There was a bit of a crosswind from the north she does like to float a little and it was an awesome save... and just in time... Thanks for watching... 👍
Did it Flame out just after the abort?
Them brit jets were the most odd style designs. Looks like a Godzilla monster movie critter
The Avro Lancaster has got to be one of the ugliest airplanes ever built, but it got the job done when it needed to be done.
more "rudder" practice.
Been practicing for 40 years. Sometimes stuff happens even to the 40 year vets. More humility?
I've built one, they fly really well. That turbine certainly spooled up fast when you aborted!
It spooled up just in time for sure. Thanks for watching.
Nose gear is too weak. That was NOT a hard landing.
The landing was soft and sweet.... The nose gear broke when it slammed into the dirt off the edge of the runway when he almost lost the aircraft. You must have skipped over that part and the text that noted the gear was broken while the plane was still in the air. Truth.
@@JeffLeasureYep ! I fast forwarded past the first attempt. I don't know why people don't abort more often.
@@truthboomertruthbomber5125 He was a fraction of a second late but I think the onlt damage was to the nose gear. It'll be fixed by the weekend if it isn't already. Thanks for watching...
