This is wonderful that she is recognized for her work and what it has meant for technology and healthcare. :) But its disgusting that the best article on her and 2 other scientists that won it was from the BBC. The Canadian media are cynical and biased.
This is SUCH a great accomplishment!!! Donna Strickland has sent the message out, loud and clear, that future generations CAN achieve this level of accomplishment and notoriety! This is not only a great testimony for Canada, but for women ALL AROUND THE WORLD!!! It is great that Canada represents one sector of the world that invests in women's education, equality, achievement, and celebration of greatness!! May this message be well-received by those sectors of the world that aim to restrict the contributions that women truly are for the greater good of the world! Great post by CBC NEWS!!! AWESOME POST TEAM CBC!!
There are 5 nobel prizes, the nobel peace prize is very different from the nobel physics prize, they were just both conceived of by Nobel. The credentials for getting each of them aren't related at all
Respect for this achievment by her and her team. Although i do get suspicious about wether or not the winner had to be a woman this time just to avoid all the political correctnes issues nowadays
Because she is a woman, she hasn't been promoted to a full professor despite the fact that her contribution is far more significant than many male professors who are going through their career path with less effort.
@@MarikaCZ88 same happend to michael farraday. Don't play the victim card please. It is great that she contribited to science as do many woman. Earn your way ffs and do it with results instead of whine and complain.
@@phaub you might find it funny but it is the same fact that there are lot more men receiving purple heart medal for honour and so. Because there are simply more men in numbers. As goes for math and science. It is not that woman are blocked because of their gender. Marie Curie won the nobel twice in 1907. Earn your succes and it will come to those.
Kudos ! Really proud of this lady :)
Damn, my university. I never knew her when I was there. But proud of a UW prof win Nobel.

Kevin Napier stop bringing gender into this
Why the focus on gender? When she won the Nobel prize she contributed to physics, not to women's physics
Michael moore?
👍👍👍👍👍
Damn, I wish the Nobel meant something anymore.
What world do live in? Lol
It does, fool.

Koyomi Araragi this is physics, not peace.

Now give Trump his Nobel Peace prize
He will say only one, and then he will broke this 😂😂😂

Funny how this wasn't an issue last year, or the year before, or the one before that, or any other year since 1963.
