  • I made this little Victorian apron inspired dress was designed to accommodate the changes my tummy has because of endometriosis. Figuring out something that would be warm for winter but is flowing enough to not cause discomfort can be tough, so I'm thrilled I managed to put this wrap dress/pinafore situation together! I'll definitely be making another!\

It ended up super cute and I loved the cat son cameo as well. I suffer from the same issues and somehow I didn't come up with adjustable garments as a solution, so cheers for that, I'll be stealing that idea for when my inexplicable hormones get the best of me.

Part of the only reason I’ve thought of adjustable is because I have this pair of trousers I bought on holiday a couple of years ago that have tie closures you can adjust, and they’ve become one of my go-to garments when endo belly is in full swing. So, I thought: why not make more things like that? 😁

I love the palette, and of course, THE POCKET. Great problem solving with style

This is adorable! I’m also super interested in what people come up with regarding solutions for their own adaptive clothing. I’ve had a look around at what’s on the market, and it’s just turd. And it’s not fair- disabled people and people with chronic illnesses deserve nice clothes too, dammit.
I’ve been considering starting an adaptive clothing line at some point in the future. I’m already going to be doing an applied fashion diploma anyway, and it’s a bit of a “if you want something done right” type situation. And the current market truly is abysmal. But I have so far only made clothing that deals with my particular disabilities, so I do need to do more real search on what would be most useful to others.

Oh my goodness! We had the same thought! I made a similar one while in my hotel room in NC, but mine has a 3/4 circle skirt and some random unintentional pleats we won’t discuss. Yours came out SO PRETTY!!

No, we never mention unintentional pleats. We don't need that kind of scrutiny or negativity in our lives.

That's a lovely jumper. And it looks extremely comfortable. Here's to flexible clothing - well done.

I though you'd like to know that although I haven't gotten around to making one of these (but I will!) this video has been really impactful for me. I had somehow never connected the non-pain symptoms of endo to the condition and blamed myself a lot for the random sizing my body decides to lean into sometimes. It's been so helpful just to know that it's not me! It's a condition! It happens to other people too! So thank you.

Wow, I’m so glad this has been so helpful! I try to talk about the health stuff that’s part of my life because when I see other people talk about their chronic conditions is really affirming and helps me. I had hoped that me talking about my conditions would help other people feel a bit more comfortable in themselves as well, but I never thought it might help people connect the dots and look at their symptoms differently.
Even if it wasn’t connected to endo, your body shifting size isn’t something you need to be ashamed of, but I’m really glad that hearing me speak about it helped you. 😂

What timing. I have been looking over pinafore/apron patterns because I have recently declared war against my pants and don't care to wear them for the foreseeable future. Your garment turned out lovely. The colors are perfect and I love its additional functions for you. Also, son cameo was amazing.

The cat-son rarely makes and appearance. He's a lot less needy than the cat-daughter, so ends up being filmed less!

He has an intense love for cheese, and I'm convinced he could recognise the rustling of a cheese packet from 50 metres away!

what a lovely solution and fit for that skirt/pinafore/apron!
at one point i made an apron that was visually quite similar, though less bum overlap, because i'm a messy domestic goddess and always end up with flour handprints on my butt (oops?) i use a little more coverage on the top, and put big pockets onto the skirt, but the feel is definitely similar.
Thank you for the lovely video :)

I also have endo. However I dont get the bloating symptoms, I do get severe ibs type symptoms. Both are common with endo. I definitely get the my clothes suck thing, nothing it comfortable when I am haveing a bad day/s. I am to hot or too cold or both at the same time
