- It's been so long since I've looked at this project, I actually had to go back over some of the old video's to remember where I left off lol :-) Since I had to do this, figured it might be a good refresher for everyone else as well.
A brief overview of what's been done up to this point as well as some prudent testing of resins to make sure next week doesn't go sideways on me! As of now looks like we're in good shape!
Is it a little odd that I actually missed the smell of poly resin lol????

All The Bertram Vids From The Beginning (PLAYLIST):
• Bertram Moppie 25 Rest...
Good to see you back at work. Let your daughter be part of your videos, she is part of your life after all! Cheers
“Do you want to say something?”
Would have been epic if she cued right in with “This has been a boatworks today production” 😂
Nice to see you getting back at this project.
With the new location I’m assuming you’re closer to the Great Lakes, do you expect your clientele will change here or do people haul their boats to you from far and wide anyway?
That would have been hilarious lol It's my other Daughter that actually recorded that a few years ago :-) I'm actually further away from the lake now than I was. Before was literally 2 blocks away from Lake Superior; now about 20 min out.
The shop series was great but it is good to be getting back to the boat business again.
My wife is ultimately going to very much dislike the fact that I enjoy your videos when I end up dragging some big hull back home after I've learned enough to be dangerous..
So happy you’re getting back into your Bertram! Haha
Is deck bonded to the hull good? Mine was bad. Made similar noises
As far as I can tell it is; glassed together from the interior. Unfortunately they also glassed over the nuts and washers holding the rub rail so removing that would be a beast :-(
Outstanding choice to quit a little early and enjoy some special time with your “munchkin!”
It's been so cool to see you get back to boats, but I thoroughly enjoyed the steps to get there. Can't wait to see what you got in store for us on that moppie !
Hey Bud! It must be possible to buy a pumpe that you can click onto the can. That will give you, no spill and precise amount... good to see you back using your talent, and teaching all us amateurs... Hang loose from Denmark
That is going to be the world's most expensive Bertram Moppie !!!!!!!!!
For future reference 1 mil is equal to one thousandth of and inch, A.K.A. 0.001 inch. I use to work with mils, millimeters, and inches.
Thanks for sharing..
Hey Andy, new subscriber here from the Netherlands. been going trough your vids, to get familiar with fiberglass and gelcoat. this summer switched from a steal boat to a 41 feet fiberglass patrolboat (convert to a yacht) from 50 years old.
Next spring it needs a new gelcoat (of wich I still know not enough of :P ) so I keep going trough your old vids and learning a lot. I hope I know enough in 3 months to do this right the first time.
Thank you for sharing your knoledge. Keep It up!!
Best of luck from the NL.
I had already seen the previous videos but I loved watching them again.
And the music and the sound ... wonderful, as always. You got a big thumbs up my brother. 👍
I have been enjoying your move/build so much (because I appreciate creating your own space the way you want it) that I had forgotten all the techniques, tips, and tricks I loved so much - now I can hardly wait. Your daughter is great, by the way. When you asked her if she had anything to say, I was so waiting for "This has been a Boat Works Today production!" But she was still awesome.
The little ones grow up too fast!
Hi.
I wonder if its poosible to fiberglas aluminium to a fiberglas boat.?
Ex if i want to make a frame in aluminium and a want to attach it to the boat.
Thanks.
Mvh Fredrik, from sweden.
Are you certain that is your daughter ?. She looks absolutely nothing like you …… LOL ! , great video and keep. In mind people like puppies and kids . Peace
While it’s great to watch the guru get back to it I must say the new shop build was entertaining, enjoyable, and educational. Our new boat 39 cpmy carver has been stored as close to home as we could get, as close may not have been best choice boat was blocked four time in three weeks and keel was crushed about a half inch. I’m hearing improper blocking damages many keels and was wondering if you have any videos in the past I could get a link to on type of repair. Plan is to use biaxle strips to rebuild after I grind down glass, think straight biaxle might lay up better and stronger than 1708 leaning to vinylester rather than epoxy
Thoughts comments or videos are greatly appreciated. Happy New Year.
Good Grief! What a nut-biter!☹ I feel your pain bro, do it yourself and know it's done correctly.
Out of curiosity, why don't you use Eglass and Kevlar?
Be careful having your kids in your videos. Channels like DudeDad had their comments turned off because of some UA-cam minor protection act for channels (or videos?) containing minors.
1/16th of an Inch = 62.5 Thousandths (Mils) Thanks for the Good Information Jason
Been watching for awhile now and love the content.. also when I here your name on other boat refit channels.. but let’s get down to maybe a very simple question…
When you work with epoxy clean up with your containers is easy because you just let it set flex the container and it breaks away!!!
I’ve never used PVC.. is it the same??
I have a 20 mopping 1965 in South Carolina where you located it's very original just wanted to clean it up a little bit need some guidance :-)
Glad you are back up and 🏃♂️ running Andy. Your advise on all aspects of glassing etc has my 1990 four winns 205 sundowner project coming along beautifully.
Keep rolling enjoy your videos.
Andy, I'm really in need of fibreglass education. I have fuel tanks that seep fuel and wish to seal/restore them. Can you recommend any education tutorials or sources of information I can obtain?
That's a tough choice considering keeping or selling the Moppie. After all the money and time put into it, you'd like to see some money back in your hands BUT it's a Bertram and you already own it. It's such a pretty boat I'd have a hard time letting it go too
Ah. Back at it! I thoroughly enjoy watching your repair videos. Keep up the good fight.
Nice. Cute daughter. Is she learning the business? But if she's like mine, ulterior motives.
So you purchased a new home as well? Congrats on the new shop and home. Curious is it close by the new shop? Thank you for the great content.
I asked this once before ,,, but it was on a much older video . How has the stuff held up from the tube ? I have some random stress cracks on a Ranger 23 that I need to address . I am currently replacing all the bulkheads in the hull and adding a little extra strength where I can .
Well I trusted you and I threw away some old polyester resin I’m pretty sure it was at least 10 years old and I’m hoping I didn’t just make an expensive mistake I like your show and can’t wait to see the Bertram finished
Great to see you again Andy, been waiting for your production. When that fiberglass creaked on the foredeck I actually jumped. I really admire your attitude and approach to your work. I not a boat owner, however I can still learn a lot from you. Watch the Munchkin, seems she pleaded guilty to WINGING IT. I'm pleased your hard work and efforts have paid with regards to the build. The new house must be next hehe. Thanks for the invite to join you at work.
I use those plastic clip on "lips" for cans of paint and gel. There's usually a bucket of them on the counter at Home Depot for 99 cents but they clean up easy and last quite a while. I loathe getting paint in the rim of a can.
Sorry Andy,
But too much irrelevant and long winded discussion to hold my interest. Cut to the chase !
19:07 Ahhh... twins from different centuries. 👍
Always a joy watching you I'm always learning something new
What were you heating with a torch around 11:20 mark? Burning cured resin off a fin roller?
i AM SURE she is super keen to see herself on the vid ... lol
Somewhat of a little diva lol :-)
wait, you fix boats? I thought this was a building channel...
She is adorable, awesome video Andy 👍😁❤️
Great to have you back Making progress on the Bertram!
Believe mil stands for milli-inch or one one-thousandths of an inch

Can you cheese grade the sag Like you would On a car
Glad the munchkin can get screen time and dad time when she wants to!
Soooo glad the move is done! Now you can get back to educating us.
Thank you for such awesome content.
So good to see you back on Andy. Was really missing ya!

Hello Andy, Shop's looking good. If you are going to keep a boat around, shouldn't it be one that you would hunt for as a personal collectable?
Hi: was your daughter checking on her multicolour sail boat ?
Great to see you starting work on the Bertram again. Cute kid, Andy, need to put her into your videos more often. Happy Holidays to you and the family.
Yes 💪 Been waiting for this. As I’m sure you are to Andy. Good to see back at it
Great recap Andy 👌 was good to look back at what was done before 👍 and great to see your finally back up and running again ❤️ missed the vids and info and watching the progress. Enjoy your day with the family mate ☺️ 👍
Nice I have been watching you for years. Nice to see you back on boat stuff. The other stuff was ok.
Nice!
Love watching your videos, I learned such a lot and put it to good use. Merry Christmas and a happy new year 🥳
A mil is a thousandth of an inch, Andy. Good to see you back to doing chemistry!
personally i loved the shop series, and am looking forward to the day you start on the extension. the boat videos are the bread and butter of the channel but who likes to eat just bread and butter?
has to feel good to be thinking about your projects again.
Good to see you back in the saddle!!! Also nice to see the "boss" checking in on you..
Was that the voice behind this has been a boatworks today production
So good to see you shop done and ready to get back to boat work. Always enjoy your programs.
Great stuff Andy. Glad to see things settling back into it! 👍
What resin can be used on blue foam board? Your daughter is cute as a button :)
A mill is a thousandth of an inch 0.001”. Not a metric unit at all.
Hell, yeah! Back on the Bertram! 💕💕💕
Great recap video. Your daughter was the star today.
Good stuff Andy! Great to see you back on the boats
Nice seeing you counting drops ;)
Good to see you back to work after your vacation (from boat work). The last minute of the video really pointed out to me how long I have been watching your channel. Your girls are growing up.
Tell me about it lol ;-)! Think I started the channel before my youngest was even born (the one that's in this video at the end :-O) Actually thinking about it, my oldest was only 1; damn I'm getting old lol! Have a safe Holidays Todd!
Glad to see you back on the boat.
Always enjoy your videos and appreciate your positive attitude. Videos have been helpful in my attempts at minor fiberglass repairs. FYI: There is an interesting article on an older 25 foot Bertram that was completely redone in the December issue of Power & Motoryacht.
have to see if I can pull that up :-) Thanks!
