had a similar noise once on my SX150, turned out it was a new kickstart shaft which was rubbing against the clutch, a quick blast with a dremel to give a bit of clearance soon sorted it. might be worth checking to see if the kickstart plunger isn't rubbing as well. another silly thing which has caught me out in the past is my tools rattling about in the toolbox , that sent me on a bit of a wild goose chase once trying to track down a loud buzzing noise :( hope you find the problem without too much hassle and cost. Paul
Unfortunatly its not the the kickstart plunger :( The casa sidecase gives loads more room in this area for their super duper clutch and my the LTH I have is the same thickness as a standard type. If you have another listen when I get under the scooter, its a metallic knocking. She didn`t sound like that before...
@@scootertart Nope, Iv`e ridden it.. Apart from overhauling the fork and changing the rings and little end bearing... havn`t touched the casatronic. The speeds I was doing on the way home from work today would have blown a hole in the piston if it was pinking. Temp is fine, compression is good.... it just doesn`t sound like it did.
@@kickbackgarage strange, on listening again to the footage - it does sound like something loose like excessive chain rattle or the aforementioned kickstart shaft issues. if its been running ok then it wouldn't be crank, topend related , something would have gone bang or seized by now. Sorry I can't be more help chap. Have you started to pull it down yet?
Reminds me of T5 malossi 172 rattling. Think it could be piston ring slapping due to clearing between piston ring and piston ring grove. Or piston knocking to cylinder walls, or maybe wrong needlecross bearing🤔
I talked to a knowledgeable dealer today and they have had 5 or 6 casa case motors that have sounded like this. One after just 1000km's.. All had worn out the flywheel side bearing 😮. I know for a fact that it isn't piston slap.
Head gasket is leaking mate, did you fit a new one or use the old one. To soften a ally gasket heat it on a flame, then use the wood end of a match stick, wipe it on the gasket and when you have a brown line on the gasket drop it into water. That will soften it.
Any in and out movement on the flywheel when you pull on it ? When I had a driveside bearing fail you could feel movement when pulling on the flywheel.
Another top tip there, but the casa case uses a flanged bearing, so would be difficult to get any movement out of it. Hey ho, over here we say, winter time is service time and winter is comming fast! 2c this morning and not long before the end of the season anyway.
Ilove the GP engine there amazing if you do em right,t may be the key way on crankshaft get a new woodruff,,,I could hear you need a thicker cylinder head (alloy gasket,(that will reduce top nock,,you could be lifting on stator side bearing,,if I was there I'd sus it in seconds, sound on vid is crappy,,(series 1 frame always pull Betta whith a slightly heavier flywheel 🍀 Goodluck, any questions,
Got a similar noise...Like metallic clicking from the top end when it's ticking over. Scooter pulls away fine, clutch seems fine. Take the chaincase off and turn the drive sprocket manually and NO CLICKS!!...Ground down the kickstart shaft slightly where it may have been touching the clutch and still the same.... WTF is wrong?
@@kickbackgarage Cheers for the reply mate. My possible problem is the chain is too slack. I only noticed that earlier today. Will try to find out what the tolerance should be. I have another issue where the rear wheel won't move in reverse when engine running and in gear with the clutch in. Not sure if this is part of the same problem. New (old) Lambretta for the first time in over 30 years. I thought I knew what I was doing 1st time round....Obviously not.
Ok. Will strip down. I prefer drive side bearing over big end any day of the week! Think I will buy a new set of bearings and seals and maybe the new type casa piston. She has done 11,000km's.
Kickback Garage Oooo I fitted one off those when I rebuilt engine , I’ll check that out in the morning, easy fix if that’s all it is . Thanks mate been enjoying the videos keep at it.

@@scootertart Haha... Thats what weekends are for! At least it gives me something to do, now that the season here in Norway is slowly ebbing away..
Nothing wrong with it, normal Lambretta sounds 😉
Haha, I wish. Winters are long here, so no problem. Bearings and tools orderd. Will be fun to see how the casa case has stood up for 3 rally seasons.

I have this same sound, checked the flywheel cover and no problems, seems to be coming from the piston.... how did you sort yours?
Mine was the casa pull down chain tensioner was a tad tight.
@@kickbackgarage Ok, good to know, I have the same tensioner... thanks!

it's your chain slapping
No mate
Did you get to the bottom of the noise mate , got something similar on mine , just put a scootopia 185 on it so worried I’ve done something wrong🤨
Yes. My noise was the casa performance chain tensioner a tad to tight.

@@kickbackgaragewhen you a tad too tight, what do you mean? I’ve been reading 6-8mm is fine so interested in what you found
I set mine to 8mm
Rubber band busted or sumfink?
Flywheel rubbing on cowling?
Nope. Checked
No . first thing I checked
Go Vespa!

The tassels have come off your lofas mate just need bit of glue be good as new mate
