    It would be nice to have comparable bird slugs, but still a good review.
    Thanks

      Yes would like to have had a 100 watt bird slug, but still gives you the idea it's pretty accurate meter for what it is

    Where was the swr reading??

  • @freepressright

    An SWR of 8... Good God. I can't imagine. I had a guy seeking advice from me for an SWR issue of
    5.3. Turns out he spray painted his antenna. Abort mission.

      Yes, If it's that bad just throw the whole setup away 😜

      @@Rooster_Radio so how much for this meter? I've held off buying more because, being newly back into it after 21 years, my PDC600s have been on long term loan and the guy keeps saying he will get them back to me, but every week there's always some reason he's too busy. But the moment I spend money on a replacement, he'll give them back.

    Do you have Workman HP201S price?

  • @quaildogusa

    My HP 202s shows the carrier wattage but the needle hardly move when speaking into the mic. I've tested the meter on a CX3400 and a Cobra 29 with the same results. Both of these radios work well and I have even had a local shop check them out. What could be going on with the 202s?

    • @Rooster_Radio
      @Rooster_Radio  2 роки тому

      They seem to read average power except tighter than a bird meter. Average power will be a fraction of peak

    • @quaildogusa
      @quaildogusa 2 роки тому

      @@Rooster_Radio Yours in the video seems to be showing peak reading a 10w carrier and 50w modulation. Mine on the CX3400 shows about a 7w carrier and maybe 7.5w modulation.

      @@quaildogusa with the amplifier on. With the radio alone it only showed 6 watts. The meter reads average power but is very tight, even more so than a Bird meter.

    How is the Swr meter set ?????

  • @ChristiannTyler
    @ChristiannTyler 3 роки тому

    Just got one from your eBay page so what’s the reason for keeping one of these permanently in your vehicle? For swr or to see your power output?

    • @Rooster_Radio
      @Rooster_Radio  3 роки тому +1

      Both. Mobiles can be more finicky than a base sometimes in regards to swr changes/issues, or even charging system issues that may cause you to drop in power when running more than a few hundred watts.
      I run a little 250 in my mobile so I don't currently use a watt meter, however if I was running a $500 or more amplifier I'd definitely run a meter to be safe.

      @@Rooster_Radio so I would just run a couple jumpers and keep it inline after my amp to keep an eye on my swr and power ? Also would I tune my swr to my radio and then just add the amp or tune it with the amp in line. And your welcome look forward to purchasing some more equipment from you.

    • @Rooster_Radio
      @Rooster_Radio  3 роки тому +1

      @@ChristiannTyler yes on the jumpers. I recommend 6ft minimum.
      Ideally you would have an antenna analyzer and go behind every connection to make sure the swr doesn't change.
      However, your chain of devices should look like this
      Antenna -> Watt meter-> Amplifier -> Radio.
      These meters seem to read swr accurately and they read it all the time rather than having to flip to a certain mode and calibrate.
      However if your budget allows I still highly recommend an antenna analyzer for initial installation
