Historians continue to speculate over why ancient Roman cities would have twenty libraries next to each other, and dozens of fountains randomly placed in the middle of nowhere.
Lots of fun seeing this game get absolutely broken like this. As a kid I don't think I ever made it past the 4th mission, but I didn't know much English back then, so that made things a lot harder. I'm not sure I ever even figured out how to trade. So my way of enjoying this game was to build as strong of an army as I could until I was in irrecoverable debt, and then seeing how long I could fend off Caesar's legions before getting chained to the galley. I bought the game again a few days ago, looking forward to try some of these strats :D
what run is he doing though? there's no Carthago or Lutetia? but I saw him selecting "dangerous province"? WTF... is this only the peaceful missions? I haven't played those yet, but I played Mediolanum and Tingis... weird
I have a new speedrun coming up. I will post it one mission at a time on this channel. I got the total time down to about 1h30, maybe close to 1h with further improvements. The videos will be high-res with better sound. (I have build and installed a windows machine just for this, my computer setup is OSX/Ubuntu). The rules will be the same: difficulty hard, gods effects on, with the difference that I'll be doing/posting each mission separately. Stay tuned
@@vishensivparsad i got so stuck in this mission, my markets couldnt supply every house and i had a ton of farms, even more than he has. So i couldnt raise the prosperity no matter what i did because the houses kept devolving.
Hey everyone. Someone has risen up to the challenge of doing a Caesar3 speedrun. New best time by haosnik is 2h21m. (Video here www.twitch.tv/videos/145215689). Needless to say: I will be back in a short while with a better time.

really impressive! i play a lot of caesar III on my childhood. Game that i plaied on my channel too but sadly i stopped making videos. you make me wanna start to play again!
easiest way to reduce unemployment, fountains don't need to be maintain, road access, take only 1 tile space and cheap to build quickly with lots of them in no where.
No Carthago or Lutetia??? Carthago taught me about efficiency and about using military right... Tingis taught me that the A.I.'s pathfinding can be manipulated in order to make them go through a route of your choice (leaving one path open and closing the rest) ... And Lutetia taught me about how to make Luxury Palaces (it's been the most troublesome by far)... Going through Damascus now
Yeah it´s because he builds his blocks in a way that he can feed the people very easy. The market ladys don´t have to go so far to get the food because the granary is next to the block, but most workers need to just walk around the block and not to the granary and the stuff behind the granary, thats why the gatehouse is placed there. Hope it was helpful :)
I just didn't touch the recording settings, I didn't actually want to record sounds outside the game. Since then I have remade that speedrun: way faster and higher quality recording: ua-cam.com/video/CP-eC9s1Sq4/v-deo.html
To reduce unemployment. If it is too high, people get mad and they leave the city. Depending on how long it takes to solve it could mean you need to restart the map. Fountains are easy to place since you can place them wherever you want.
I remembered the game from when i was a kid... but i never understood it... so i went to download it again... stil dont really understand is lol... but my question is: do you really have to record with a microphone while you never were to speak? Clicking and other useless background noises are annoyed to my brain.
I just was not careful with the recording and let the default setting. I'll redo a speedrun with proper recording (I have it down to 1h30min, so stay tuned)
i think its part of your caesar 3 version, game's too old to have keybindings set, you could try opening the .ini file in notepad and check but i doubt
My best guess is in order to regulate the unemployment issue. When a lot of migrants come, unemployment will balloon and will cause many problems. When you need the workers again, just destroy some of the fountains.

Jeremi Wood slow the game right down, and when you build 1x barracks - quickly build a second, third, fourth etc until the barracks building goes red again. It's not exactly a cheat, but it's a small exploit that helps on military maps.
The temples still satisfy the gods and you still get culture rating for having academies. is that random clicking of fountains a glitch to trigger something?

Is anyone as awed as I am seeing a prosperous city going up in like 2 minutes?
It's supposed to go up only annually, nothing in between. So he's either cheating and this is bullshit or you got lucky seeing the year change

WOW, I thought I would be the first one to speedrun such a game. Very nice indeed^^
Impressive and very enjoyable to watch!
Your Lugdunum is a truly horrible mess of things in terms of City Building, but at least it's effective, I'm impressed.
He has won countless awards for having the perfect spherical head shape. Ain';t know foam thouching this doam.
I didn't realise how much I sucked at this game until now.
How are multiple barracks being built. I thought it was just one per City.
You are very naive my friend
If you do it fast you can put up to 5 i did one time
He gets to Lugdunum and slows the f down. Lol. Such an awesome level.
Great gameplay..enjoyed and learned a lot.
