- Waves of excitement rolled across the volleyball community in Colorado after a new world record attendance mark was set for a women's sporting event Wednesday at the University of Nebraska. A total of 92,003 fans attended a match between Nebraska and The University of Omaha.
It took Nebraska 5 decades to build their fanbase. It started with a smart coach that scheduled matches to start at the end of football games so fans leaving the stadium could walk in for free and watch volleyball and let traffic die down before heading out. It worked, in a few years that arena was sold out every match and years after that they moved into another areana with twice the capacity. Of course winning 5 national titles and dozens of conference titles helped even more.
Volleyball is the perfect women’s sport, because it’s more fun to watch than the men’s game.
Yea there are few rallies in the mens games,
I couldn’t agree more. I love watching the women’s game and I find the men’s game unwatchable.
I agree. Women's Volleyball is much more entertaining than Men's Volleyball.
Good stuff Alan Gionet and team.
It was 92,003. Not 90,000.
Joe Burrow put some money into this new professional league. It's going to be interesting to see if can compete with the very popular Euro league.
Oh I'll bet the dudes want to get in that league
