Might've saved the "Versus" bit for the actual sound comparison.
I'm sure you already know by now, but the Sony ES are excellent performers. Very good tonality/spectral balance with great resolution, along with excellent Imaging & Soundstage.
On another note, while the Dynaudio Esotar2 1200 is an excellent subwoofer, the 12.5" Automotive Gold Series Scanspeak 32W/4878T05 bests it in several important aspects and is less expensive as well.
If you’re going to stick around the you’d best QUICKLY get used to my waffling on. I’d love to talk about the scan woofer but I’ve got no experience with it. Sounds like i’d enjoy it! I’ve enjoyed a lot of their other kit.

Nice video. In the beginning, were you saying that these dont perform well wuth the midbass in the doors and the mid/tweeter up top near dash area? I was looking into the 372 set and would run them like that since i have a spot in the dash for the mid.
Yeah the crossover point between the mid/midbass is tricky if the midbass isn’t on-axis.
But like u said i believe that a low price of 300 to 400 cannot be a problem specially these days with so many good dsps😅
I believe the f status from sony would be a better match to anything dynaudio, but lately sony has surprised theworld withtheir low prices in ab amplifiers and the quality of the sound, the sony xm gs4 is compared to amplifiers that cost 5 times as much, retail is 300, but open box is 200, but if you buy wholesaleyoucan get the gs100 which is the mono, looks identical to the xm gs4, now i bought two gs4 and one gs100 to go with zapco hdsp v 16 channel andall speakers will be from cdtaudio 😊, now the price of the 3 amps.two 4 channels and on two channel mono allfor 400😂, thats not even the best part, i couldnt believe the sound, i have sony the tuner and also amps from marantz with my klipsch towers, all i can say that cdtaudio and dynaudio are very smooth and clean, it sounda just like my home audio with great recording, wow😮, onething i can say cdtaudio to this day sells the same speakers, they have a great price and quality, what usedto cost 800 now cost 200😅 , they were or still are partners with vifa and peerless tymphany, fostex,andfew others so no strangers to sounding great😊

I always wonder how much money would be saved if the manufacturer didn't include passive xovers, especially on an affordable 3 way set like the sonys
I did make a feature of my 3-way MB Quart xovers back in the day, they were pretty.
I think you’ll see more active only sets in the future. There are plenty available but like you say, not many at the budget end.
both need to bring a -A version out that drops the xover really, sony missing a tricky to not bundle up an amp with staggered power
So the Dyn’s do, of course. It would be rare for an A version of a £399 set of comps. Staggered/hybrid amp, always a fan.
Can these speakers be used in a home application? Or only a car
Hi Tony, you could use them anywhere you like. Of course, specs are very important per application so you would need to be careful if you have a particular goal in mind.
Is it true that dyanudio already did / is going to stop producing the MW182 10"??
The MW182 Is still available to us. I'm not aware of any discontinuation plans.

LOL this isn't really fair. esotan 242 would have better a better comparison or morel tempo ultra. i have the esctec 242 in my 4runner and love how easy they are to listen to. however that mellow disappearing thing they do is expensive. if you test any of the ES decks i would love to hear your opinion vs the kenwood 958 or alpine 507
I wish we could get the Esotan line. We wouldn't need to offer any other speakers. It isn't allowed to be sold in the UK for some strange reason. Obviously, I know how skewed this comparison is but it's the two relevant 3-ways in the van given the amplifier that is also on test. To be fair, if the comparison goes well for you guys, I'm interested in doing all manners of comparisons as they come up. This van and it's modular build has given us a platfrom to replace any 3-way within minutes, so long as the midbass is smaller than the Esotec MW162, which is quite easy as it's massive for a 6.5. Look at that, you must have caught me in a typing mood!! :)

Yeah ok the price but Sony's pitiful half inch voice coil vs dyns more like 3 inch coils 🤣 my oem dyns that came with a golf would would woop the Sony's all day long even stock off axis tweets and door

Hard pass on the Sony's, absolute overpriced garbage. Tweeters are exceptionally harsh and the mid-base is flat. Speakers flap out well under RMS rating. $600 for the set what a rip.
