Honestly, it's really hard to take the movie awards seriously at this point. Imagine winning awards just because of your gender or race.. You're basically handing out participation awards at this point.. Chloe Zhoa had no business winning that Oscar but then again most winners are only winners by a crazy selection process of an over politicized industry that is absolutely full of itself.

Once again, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences have made huge mistakes with nominations in some categories - showing how they are still out of touch with moviegoers. Why was their no nomination in cinematography for Top Gun: Maverick?
And rather a lot of nominations for the Fabelmans. I mean, it's a good movie, but not "best picture" by any stretch. And "best original screenplay", really?
Hollywood directors keep making Oscar bait movies and Academy is keep awarding them. I lost interest in them when they awarded Green Book the best picture which was the most generic Oscar bait you could make . Imo it didn't even deserve a nomination.
The way I see it EEAAO deservedly won the best picture. I have no qualms about it but RRR deserved at least a nomination. It was better than at least 5 movies that got nominated. I have like 3-4 movies that I liked in 2022 but RRR is the one I am recommending to everyone. I get that audience popular movies do not always get the awards but you gonna only award oscar-bait movies then no wonder Oscars have lost its creditibily in recent years.
I've heard great things about RRR and look forward to seeing it. Why are women not "Actresses" anymore? Why call both men and women "Actors"? I don't get it? did they think "Actress" make people women feel less? it all seems odd.
I saw RRR w/ my son & we both loved it. Great action, stellar visuals & a strong masculine theme about the power of friendship & manhood rising up to conquer injustice. What's not to love?
RRR was a full on entertainer on a historical base. The Oscars these days aren't meant for such movies, only 'Agenda' laden movies get the prize. You were entertained, so what ??
I used to watch the Oscars ever year, sit down with popcorn and cheer and get excited. Now I just literally don't care because they only care about themselves anymore. I had forgotten what had won last year, too. This year, I only care about Brendan Fraser winning because he deserves it after all he's been through. I would rather eat my own feet than watch Jimmy Kimmel host ANY show, much less the Oscars. The Academy has forgotten what moviemaking is all about and why we used to care about the Oscars, and it's sad.
Yeah No the reason RRR didn’t get nominated is cause India didn’t submit it as it’s official entry. That goes to a Gujarati Film called the Last show. So no as much as you guys love to find the politics and wokeism in everything that’s simply not the cSe
I watched All Quiet on the Western Front last night...and I was really disappointed. It was fine. I liked it better that 1917. But, they changed a LOT from the book. The death of a major character, the German delegation (which was fine. I liked that addition), and the ENDING. They also left out a lot from the book, which was important for context. The way they changed the ending, the title doesn't even make sense anymore, lol. If you read the book, you would understand why it is called All Quiet and the Western Front. Again, it was a decent movie...I was just expecting a lot more.
I guess its the age old difference between those who expect a good book to movie adaptation and those who expect a good movie. It might be a good movie in its own right, just not the most faithful adaptation.
To me it looked too clean. World War I was a very filthy war. Those men in the trenches were living in filth and shit and covered in lice and surround by dead and decaying bodies. There were guys that lost limbs because a small cut on their arm got infected and spread and had to be removed....not even from battle. But watching the movie it all looked clean and pristine.
The NF film shouldn't be even called with the og title, because it doesn't make justice of it. In the german it's literally: ''nothing new on the western front'' and it has a deeper meaning to it, this NF film is just very bad at adapting it. The nomination for the adapted screenplay must a be joke, because it's a bad adaptation and it even has a weak script with weak and not-remarque-like characters. The previous adaptations (especially the from 1979) are superior. :)
@@androlibre9661 Which movie? Yeah, those are the reasons I did not like 1917. It looked too clean. You had the one-shot gimmick, Game of Thrones actors...it looked too Hollywood; too polished.

I mean, I really enjoyed the film. But it was not an Oscar-worthy picture. It was fun and campy. The visuals were mediocre, the acting was decent (and at times hilariously bad), the editing was fine. The story itself was entertaining, as was the action. I'd watch it a few more times before I'd watch some of the other nominees, but no it doesn't deserve any Oscars.
One liplock between Bheem & Raju at the end of that friendship montage part, and RRR would have bagged almost all of oscars it would have been nominated in...
Bheem and Ram couldnt be gay..... Ram sees Bheem as his Brother.....because in the eyes of Ram , Bheem is like his little brother whom we see getting shot by the brits during Ajay Devgn scene or Ram's original flashback where his mom, little brother, dad all got shot. The scene where Bheem that time Akhtar eats with his left hand and says "whats wrong with eating from any hand (left or right hand ) ammi"... in the house of the Muslims who helped him so much hiding his real identity, that time Ram while eating remembered his village and little brother who died and thought him to be of Bheem's age with same innocence if he would have been alive, which is also why Ram kind of carries him like piggyback after the Nattu Nattu dance when Bheem (Akhtar) was exhausted. Its a huge brotherly affection. If hollywood doesnt understand this and thinks they should be gay instead just to not have the token of so called "toxic masculinity" then its Hollywood and award givers who are blinded and has problems.
That’s how Everything Everywhere all at once got nominated for multiple. The main lead is female and the villian is a gay girl. Loved the movie but it also checks multiple boxes.
OSCARS are really in their own world, away from the reality. Thinking they are greatest intellectuals to judge any movie, irrespective of the love what it would have received from the masses. Simply chose a film that no one is even aware of just to create an perception that another blockbuster movie from the same year isnt as good as it is loved. I am done 🙏
05:39. To add to Chris' commentary, it's documented that the actors and actresses that vote for the best entries in the awards ceremony, do so based on who they are friendly with or admire. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with any kind of artistic or technical proficiency whatsoever. That is why the movies that DESERVE to win, don't, while those that don't, do. If you took out the actors and actresses voting for entries, and leave it open to the public, I'm sure you'd get a COMPLETELY different lineup of movies, and maybe even a couple of surprise wins. :/
Unless somebody gets backhanded or whips out their dong onstage, I'm betting on the Oscars coming and going with little to no fanfare as has been the trend for the last few years. I wonder how long before they just stop televising it all together?
Why does anyone even care about Oscar awards at this point? The event has been a low rated joke for many years. Like what you like and don’t concern yourself with Hollywood’s approval.
Glad to hear about Top Gun: Maverick. Should win but won't. I have to disagree on Chariots of Fire. I love Raiders of the Lost Ark. I've worn out the VHS and practically lived at the Indiana Jones stunt show... But Chariots of Fire is an Oscar level film. A real snub was "American History X" losing to "Life is beautiful."
the fact that they only chose it for music category tho. Somehow it seemed mildly racist for me. Maybe subconscious racism, or just my imagination? i dunno
Oscar’s are irrelevant. They’ve made themselves irrelevant. But people still watch the Oscars. They should give Will Smith a special award for making the Oscar’s more interesting.😂
Bollywood is woke has Hollywood... So they snubbed Chance of RRR... Because RRR comes from Tollywood which is basically a industry from South of India... And They hate SS Rajamouli ( Director of RRR) because he makes movies for Audience... He is non woke....
I have up on the Oscars after the three strikes of 2007, 2008, and 2009. 2007 - Transformers lost VISUAL EFFECTS to The Golden Compass, which had CGI out of a bad PS2 game. 2008 - They only nominated Heath Ledger for The Dark Knight because of how much people were talking about his death. 2009 - Zoe Saldana was denied a Best Actress nomination because she was "not on camera" for Avatar.
Look, Alfred Hitchcock himself never won an Oscar and the press literally had to bully the academy to award one to Martin Scorcese. The academy was never that great in awarding prices to begin with. It’s mainly a mixture of general popularity of a person in LA and money spent on getting those votes.
To be honest, Zoe not being on camera was a fair point. Holy shit, they gave it to GC? Regarding heath, its ok for him to win, but if any great actor wasnt nominated that year, that shouldve been a better reason tho. Anyways, it should matter whether we watch it, we anyways would know the results.
@@pareshpadhi2454 It wasn’t a fair point. Her performance, her voice, without those her character wouldn’t exist. Yep. Imagine for a minute how detailed and intricate the CGI was for Transformers. They had to keep track of every single moving part that comprised Optimus Prime when he transformed. And he lost to PS2 level graphics. Heath would not have gotten that nomination or award if his death hadn’t been headline news. He absolutely deserved the award but I don’t doubt for a second he wouldn’t have gotten it if he had lived.
I still remember how bullshit that Transformers snub felt. How can something that took months to make & melted through computers, on the worst year of Hollywood (2009), lost to fucking Golden Compass is beyond me.
RRR was NOT eligible to be nominated for Best Picture. It's not the Academy's fault because India nominated a different film for best picture. They had one nomination, and the wasted it on something else. I have no love for the Academy, but this time it's not their fault.
The preview of that stunt for new mission impossible Tom Cruise posted will have more views on it than any of those movies tipped to win had tickets bought for.
I'm okay with non-blockbuster action movies getting the best picture, but the film has to be high quality, transcendent and successful in its own right to some reasonable degree.
I'm not on Chris's level. But I feel like I watch a lot of movies. All kinds of movies, not just main stream. But until he and Gary just said it, I don't believe I'd ever even heard of Coda. They are so out of whack at the Academy... Too bad the guys in RRR weren't gay. It would have swept.
i also liked RRR, but lets be honest, its because the action scenes and physics are ridiculous, its fun to watch, but oscars like movies you can take seriously.

All rajamouli movies are basicslly superhero movies
@Omega Z you realise there is an actual Indian Spiderman in Marvel comics right?
@@vignesh540 Yes, I am, I was being sarcastic
Spiderman is super popular in India
I have a personal policy of not seeing any movie that gets one of the "best" awards: Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor or Best Supporting Actress. Those awards are a sure sign the movie is woke and not worth my time or money.
Oscar or not, general audience loved it, have seen them doing Natu Natu in theater itself, it rarely happens, so in my view Rajamouli sees it as a absolute win.
Bollywood already made "CODA" back in 90's. Critically acclaimed aswell. Name of the movie: Khamoshi(Silence) the musical.
It wasn't snubbed. India didn't submit it. Its up to the Country, not the Academy to submit the foreign language film and India picked something else.
If that's true then Gary and Chris have eggs on their faces.
@@thisoldgoat3927 they were talking abt best pic 10 list not foreign lang category, they know India didnt submit RRR.(which is a diff topic, some internal politics there)

Also: Henry dropped from the search for Highlander reboot lead, Chris Hemsworth being eyed as replacement.
Pray that they don't get that overrated bum Taika Waititi to direct the film.
I think Chris is a good choice.
This sucks. Henry being attached to the project is what excited me.

RRR will win oscar if the two male characters is not just best friend but end up being boyfriend, ykwim.
How on earth academy didn't think rrr actors acted more than anyone who got nominated... never cared about Oscar..it's a scam
Alongside Decision to Leave and RRR, Everything Everywhere all at Once and Top Gun: Maverick. All Quiet on the Western Front is my list, but I do agree they left out key sequences from the novel. Once again, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences have made huge mistakes with nominations in some categories - showing how they are still out of touch with moviegoers. Why was their no nomination in cinematography for Top Gun: Maverick?
Yeah, the fact that they'd give Empire of Light a Cinematography Nomination over Top Gun 2, is just insulting....
Bruh I had more fun with this movie than I had with anything else this year.
RRR was great. I figured it would get hosed, but it deserved better
Oscars so human.
Why are they ignoring otherkin?
RRR was amazing
Even Indian government did not include in its Oscar nomination. They actually used an unreleased movie from state cinema.
Oscars are dying anyway.
They really fkd up here, RRR is an unbelievably great film.
movie is racist, it made straight white men the villain, it’s clearly a woke agenda against white people
The way I see it EEAAO deservedly won the best picture.
Yeah, never thought abt that. Best actor in a female category-wtf? just call it best actress and move on.
1917 so bad felt like frodo quest without war action in a war movie ...
@@androlibre9661 Which movie? Yeah, those are the reasons I did not like 1917. It looked too clean. You had the one-shot gimmick, Game of Thrones actors...it looked too Hollywood; too polished.
Oh, they used to mount Harvey Weinstein's 'campaign.' 😉
The value of the Oscars is in the sewage after this snub.
RRR wasn't woke enough apparently
It was just stupid. Which is fine. The A-Team is stupid and I love it but...lol. It's just silly entertainment.

They could have nominated for director and bgm.
I think RRR was too unapologetically masculine to be nominated
RRR was a helluva film. Too bad Hollywood doesn't think so. Guess it wasn't diverse enough.
RRR is not "woke".
@@mixfy926calm down, he's joking
No gay in India
That’s how Everything Everywhere all at once got nominated for multiple. The main lead is female and the villian is a gay girl. Loved the movie but it also checks multiple boxes.
OSCARS are really in their own world, away from the reality. Thinking they are greatest intellectuals to judge any movie, irrespective of the love what it would have received from the masses. Simply chose a film that no one is even aware of just to create an perception that another blockbuster movie from the same year isnt as good as it is loved. I am done 🙏
RRR rocks!
Kashmir Files was much better and talks about a much darker truth about our society. Sadly it wasn't even given it's due.
I’m blown away by what gets nominated these days. Speaking about blown away what’s happening with Alex Baldwin?
He was charged with involuntary manslaughter.
He's a killer
What a joke. That movie was amazing on every level
No the movie is racist, it made straight white men the villain, it’s clearly a woke agenda
Good leave RRR out of Hollywood before they try to remake it & Woke it up.
People want Oscars for anything these days! reminding even Kubrick movies didn't get best picture.
Unfortunately India is not the foreign flavor of the day.
It's not only the Oscars fault FFI hasn't selected RRR for the Oscars from India!!!
the fact that they only chose it for music category tho.
I heard that RRR wasn't nominated because India didn't submit it.. so, now my question is, "India!! What the hell??"
Bollywood is woke has Hollywood...
So they snubbed Chance of RRR...
Because RRR comes from Tollywood which is basically a industry from South of India...

Fans & Audiences > Oscars or any other awards.
@@davidgantenbein9362 Cool story.
I was just giving the three strikes that made me give up on the Oscars.

India didn't send it in foreign best film category. They could have selected it for general category

RRR was instantly awesome.
The ones that win are usually the ones nobody goes to see. By winning they might get 10 more viewers.
i also liked RRR, but lets be honest, its because the action scenes and physics are ridiculous, its fun to watch, but oscars like movies you can take seriously.
Right? Like its so campy…fun but not Oscar level.
You expect a movie about two good looking, adventurous, heterosexual, male friends, portrayed as heroic and strong to receive acclaim?
