Hello Paul I congratulate you on the Tour du Mont Blanc. Thank you for the wonderful film. There are many wonderful memories. I wish you nice tours. With alpine greetings Raphael Wellig
I really enjoyed this. It was perfect. Just the right amount of information. How can anyone give it thumbs down?? I am doing it solo in July/August. I've all my dormitory accommodation booked. I can't wait😊😊
EXCELENTE... MUITO OBRIGADO.... FELICIDADES... I HAVE PLANS TO MAKE IT IN EARLY SEPT 2020, OR EARLY JUNE... I APPRECIATED A LOT YOUR VIDEO. VERY GLAD I HAD A CHANCE TO SEE IT. BEST REGARDS FROM BRASIL.
Directions are very easy. IMO, it's quite difficult o get lost unless you want to take shortcuts etc and even so, everything is well indicated. AFAIK, it is possible to camp, but not anywhere, only near refuges. In italy, I believe there is something special with a 2000m altitude limit. Either you are not allowed to camp when you are below that altitude or the opposite, I can't remember. But near every refuge, you have designated locations where you can put your tend. Even though you have to pay for that too, it's quite cheaper than the refuge. If it can be done in less days? Of course... trailers that to the UTMB (which is roughly the same path) do the 170km in less than 40h so... Depends on how fast you walk, what you are willing to skip, how early you want to get, how long you want to walk, how much weight you are carrying, etc... but everything is possible :-)
Great video! Very informative. Do you have a list of the music? You should do the Grand Canyon Rim 2 Rim in late Sept or early Oct. The TMB is a bucket list item for sure!
Hi. Can I ask how you managed to upload a 35 minutes video? I've a video of the TMB. It's just over an hour long. What's the best way to upload it? I used movies maker on windows and have it saved as a file in documents. You tube says maximum is 15 minutes. I'm new to this and confused. Any advice?
Hello - well to be honest I didn't even know there was a time limit.. I recently uploaded another 25 minutes video without a pro... did you try to simply upload it and see what happens? Cheers P.
@@XPaulo42 I got it done but it did take 12 hours to upload. Feel free to check it out. You'll find it under Every Step Of the TOUR DU MONT BLANC solo trip. It might bring you back memories of your trip😉
Just curious what was it about refuge cop de blame that made you not want to stay? I have heard negatives elsewhere about bad attitude of guardian. Also heard negatives about elisabetta, I have a reservation there next month but could skip. (It 's in a room with bunks)
Sorry col de balme I am camping mostly also. Was the variant to trient well marked? It seems some of the boulder and scree crossings could get lost on?
Hello, Well, it looked abandoned... it looked dirty...it looked old... we didn't feel welcomed at all... There is no charm in it... Before I booked I also knew about bad reviews but I said to myself... "naaa can't be that bad... maybe they changed..." but no .. they didn't. When we arrived, there was a group of 9 people that also left... Elisabetta? Noooo, people are quite nice. The food was superb. However, there are two option to sleep and depending on which one you have, you can either have a very pleasant stay or a very bad stay. There is a room with bunks, I do believe 3 levels of it and maybe each level can accommodate 10 people. In the video at 11:24 On the last level, between the mattress and the ceiling there is about 50cm... so you really don't want to wake up in the middle of the night.. Then, you can have a room for 2x3 bunks. These are very nice and new. That's were we slept.. very nice. In the video, at 11:34
Everything on the TMB is very well marked. For me, it's almost impossible to get lost.... any variant is well indicated as well... I found it to be very easy to follow... on the downside, since it's quite crowded you always see people ahead of you and know where to go unless you go in February... :-)
Sorry for the delay. You must have found the answer by now :) It is very busy (obvisouly depends on the period you plan to go) and I suggest you book in advance if you want to sleep in the dormitory. You can reschedule reservations... not easy (by phone in French or Italian sometimes in English... but)
We did have some reservations prior to arriving but nothing paid yet. Fortunately, since we had to change our plans... However, we were lucky since there is clearly a shortage of rooms for that period... Huts were very full.... If you camp, there is no problem. If you want to sleep in a "bed" then not booking it's at your own risk. For those that we didn't book before, we called them 1 to 2 days before when we were sure we would go there and we almost always got a room. Otherwise, you need to check other huts nearby or the next in your way... This can be far depending on your trail..
Hi, I did the Gros Piton (2,619ft) in St Lucia in Feb and found it to be very difficult, technical and challenging. How difficult is this trip? what advice would you give me on preparation? Can I do it with walking shoes and do I need walking sticks.
I do not know Gros Piton but I can tell you that I saw lots of people on this track in very different physical shape. I wouldn't say it is technical (I saw some kids on it as well), I just believe you need to love to walk and love the mountain.
well I did have a look at Gros Piton.. It's about 800m height and AFAIU you climb it up and down in the same day. which makes +800 and -800 in the same day. Well I have to say that you'll be doing more than that in a typical day... :D
Well depends on what is your issue with the crowd? Do you want to be alone in the nature? Are you concerned about the people in the refuges? If you'd like to be alone in this trek, from my experience, well August is not an option, there are lots of people on the main trek and in the refuges.. July is also not an option...as far as I understood. I understood June or early September (as many refuges close mid september) would be best... In early June you can still have some snow... There are lots of people in the refuges in August and so either you have a tent and in that case, there should be no issues and you have some privacy as well OR you need to make reservations.... (which can be canceled) but I found myself in the situation where we planned to sleep in A and had to go to B... (1st night) The other thing with August is that there is the UTMB and so, there are some people training before the race... P.
