Every song she sings becomes HER song. I have no desire to hear anyone else sing...she is utterly amazing. Just wait until you hear Agape (pronounced Ah-ga-peh), or The Phantom of the Opera, or Mama. In fact you have dozens of Floorgasms yet to come and I envy you that. This woman changed my life and I will always be grateful to her for that.
Mama is a great one (although it is in Dutch but with subtitles it makes it clear that it is a sensitive one)).

Floor has the ability to get us to connect with the song on a deeper emotional level. She becomes the song. The first time I listened to her sing it I wanted to reach out to comfort her. Her high notes were like a lonely plaintive cry.

Great reaction. She sings like she swallowed a choir full of angels. I was never big on covers either until I started listening to Floor. No matter what the genre she takes it to a new level. Check out her performances on Beste Zangers when you get a chance.

Floor has done this a couple of times before. This version is the most mature of them. It's very powerful, but also quite vulnerable. The grand piano is provided by her long time friend and collaborator Joost van den Broek (After forever, Ayreon). 😎👍

Actually, this song was covered by Heart. It was The composed by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly, who recorded it under the name i-Ten on their 1983 album Taking a Cold Look. It was later recorded by actress Valerie Stevenson and actor John Stamos on the original soundtrack of the CBS sitcom Dreams in 1984. American rock band Heart covered it on their 1987 album Bad Animals, and this version reached number one in the US and Canada, thus becoming the best known version. Love, love, love Floor’s interpretation, ( as I do with everything she does). Keep exploring and sharing.

You can’t hear Floor Jansen without having a “Floorgasm”!! As a Classically trained vocalist I can attest to the fact that it is very hard to sing sitting down. Floor has the most incredible vocal & breath control! You can tell she is very well trained and her students are very very lucky to have her as their coach.

Floor did a similar version years ago with her first band After Forever that got the attention of Ann Wilson. She commented on how good the singer was. But this version is so much more polished.

She make the songs to her own and at the end from this song i always get goosebumps. There is something in her voice...... . ...Floor has made/sang many great solo covers and other music, not with Nightwish alone, but also with her other bands anfmd collaborations. You might like also e g. Ayreon's "Valley of the Queens" with Floor and 2 other epic metal ladies, "Sweet Curse" with Simone from Epica, Oblivion - M83... etc. 🤗

You´ll soon notice it´s impossible to be ready when it comes to Floor, no matter what kind of song she sings she always hit you in the feels, it´s just impossible to resist. You can find some who can hit even higher notes or is better at this or that, but they don´t bring the "onion ninjas" like she does.
This one was an experience, for sure. Now, I prefer the Heart version still, but this cover was just so gorgeous that I don't mind hearing it (who would mind hearing Floor sing, I ask you)

Once you’ve heard Floor sing you’re on top of what a human can take in….after that, hearing anyone else sing it’s just always….mehh. Floor is just perfection in the sense of the human capabilities to sing.
Check out Phantom of the Opera with Hank Port on Besta Zangers European TV /professional singer competition. I hope I describe that correctly. I’ve said it before I’m old and can say it again. Floor could sing me instructions for cooking dinner in the microwave and I wouldn’t have to add water because I’d be crying so hard. She’s magical. You have a deep journey from being in her first band At 17, After Forever, to her own band Revamp ( she wrote a lot of the music), check out Graspop 2010, any songs Revamp dose but a few suggestions, Distain, Trial of Monsters or Millions is a good start. I know you said that you usually prefer the original version so I guess you didn't realise that Heart was also a cover version of this Peter Steinberg song which he released in 1983. Heart covered it in 1987

You should react to Lara Fabian singing Je Suis Malade live version with French and English subtitles. She has sold over 30 million records Worldwide yet is barely known here in the United States. Belgian born and now lives in Canada she sings in 8 languages ( French, English, Italian, Spanish, Flemish, German, Greek and Russian) and is fluent in French, English, Italian and Spanish, She has an incredible voice, and gives a very emotional performance to the point that it takes her almost a minute to pull herself back out of the song after finishing, She is a remarkable artist.

Floor is amazing, no surprise here; and I'm a huge fan - BUT - whereas she easily and authoritatively made Tarja's Nemo (hint, hint;-) and Gaga's Shallow her own, this song will ALWAYS belong to the Wilson girls.
