- We visited the biggest renaissance festival in Texas! This is possibly a complete walkthrough of the festival including shops and shows. We spent two days here during one of the busiest themed weekends, Barbarian Invasion. This was our first time to TRF, so there are things that we liked, didn't like, and things we'd do differently next time.
00:54 Journey begins. Alot of walking around. Sightseeing.
30:06 The Greek Agora fire show, Fire Whip Show, and Falcon Show
43:15 Full Steel Combat!
54:08 More walking around and shops
1:07:30 The Pirates of the Pride of Bedlam Show at the pirate ship bar
1:11:14 The Spice Boys Show
Tips:
1. Parking. We bought the $25/day preferred parking pass which gets you right in front of the gates. We don't think it's really needed if you're planning to arrive before the gates open. On that Saturday evening, the traffic was horrible when leaving. It took more than an hour to leave. The closer you are to the gate, the more far back in traffic you'll be.
2. Best route. This is the no traffic route to the festival if you're coming from the west in the morning. Get on the 372, then go east on Dyer Mill rd., then turn on Finke rd. which will lead you right into the parking lot. I've heard stories of people coming from south on the 1774 that were stuck in traffic for many hours.
3. Food. It's pricey here. I paid $13 for a steak on a stick. You could bring a cooler of food/drinks and eat in your car. It's easy to leave and come back into the festival.
4. Holding merch is annoying, so just leave the festival and put it in your car. No need to pay for a locker or $20 for them to hold it for you.
5. Shop around. For example, not all leather armor shops are the same. Some near the crowded/popular areas are pricier.
6. Performances. If you're visiting for 1 to 2 days, I'd recommend planning ahead of time the performances you want to see and making some sort of schedule. Best seats are for those who get there early to the stages.

Great festival!! ⚔️ maybe one we’ll visit 😊
You should go!
Congrats on being one of the first ones to post a video about Barbarian weekend, which I fully intent on attending next year (why I came to this video). As a veteran of large scale festivals , events and conventions I can say of you plan on doing anything large scale that $12-25 is the normal pricing for food items. Be thankful when you go to places where there is re-entry as if you ever decide to go to a large scale music festival you aren't allowed to enter and if you get to hungry you have to a $20 burrito.
Also when it comes to large scale events scheduling becomes an art. As there will be sure to be many things that catch your interest. This becomes a bigger problem at larger events which multiple stages and things going on where you may have multiple things you want to do overlapping or going on at the same time and separate locations.
Lastly your wait to get out wasn't that bad . TRF is the largest Ren Fair in the world, and Barbarian weekend is the most attended weekend so large events will usually have at least 1-2 hour exit times if not longer. Most places that have preferred/vip parking usually have a designated exit for them so that they can get out easier. I avoid those by using shuttles if available seeing if I can afford the closest accommodations or camping if its available.
As someone who uses preferred parking every year.... if there IS a designated place for us to leave.. it doesn't matter.. you leave after 7 it's a 2 hour wait lol... just a little heads up!
@@THEmrsorsak333 You're right! I wonder if it's always a 2+ hour wait to leave on most Saturday evenings.
@kevinandcyndi I'm not sure i only seen to go when it's REALLY packed! Lmao
Did you see the Carnyx guy? First time I've heard one played in person
