- On March 20, 2019 at NYU Abu Dhabi, dance was announced as an official Special Olympics sport. Over the three-day event on March 13, 19 - 20, dancers took the stage and performed in four different disciplines (Ballroom Dances, Street-dance, Ballet and Specialty) and in different categories.
