Atmospheric perspective. Depending on your discipline you may even or almost certainly exaggerate this. In the summers in Maryland it’s easy to see these temperatures of color, since we have so much humidity pronouncing it. Drier climates are trickier. In a nutshell everything in a landscape is cooler in hue at a distance and warmer as you approach the foreground. Otherwise there are no “rules” you can mix a million shades of green with blues, yellows & reds. Confident brushwork with practice is key and what distinguishes the individual artist.
This was a much much needed information that I was hunting for. Don't know how I missed this video. As usual you demos are very informative and very helpful. Thanks Bryan !!!!!
I would love to see you actually demonstrate how you use your palette knife. I know that is not promoting your easel but nonetheless...my humble request. Love your work. Truly masterful.
This is probably THE most helpful landscape painting video I've seen. Thank you.
I'm happy to hear that. If you want more in-depth instruction, I have a complete landscape painting course on sentientacademy.com

All I saw was green being mixed and mixed and mixed.... 🙃
I'm guessing that is Winsor or Phthalo blue you are using, looks too strong to be Ultramarine.
That is correct.
