Quest link/steam link/air link do not allow you to use passthrough or multitasking while gaming. With those methods, you can only be fully immersed in VR without passthrough vision, and you can't run other Quest apps next to the game like you can with my method. If you try to activate passthrough in those methods, the game and everything else will disappear too. With my method, you can use passthrough and the game stays in a floating window that can be moved around your room. The only alternative to this would be Virtual Desktop, but it costs $25. My method is 100% free and allows passthrough and multitasking. This is also fully wireless.
@timSTARrRrr I have tried both. Moonlight is better if you want to multitask in the Quest 3 home with other quest apps open, but Virtual Desktop has a bit more performance options and is actually a great alternative for streaming actual VR games, since it provides a smoother connection and more quality settings than airlink. But Virtual Desktop costs $25 and moonlight is free. Plus moonlight and sunshine can also be used on your phone to play pc games too!
finally someone who gets it done. I was going to ditch the idea of buying a quest3 and use it with sunshine/moonlight - but you confirmed it works good. Thanks! Wanna share a ref link so you get 60 USD if I buy it? :)
Hello! I'm glad this video helped clear things up for you! If you want to support me with your purchase, you can use this link: amzn.to/4gdtCVA Any accessories or other items purchased through that link will count as referral sales too! Thanks so much for your consideration
Moonlight also connects to Steam like a Steam Link client. FYI Great Video.....Can you do a video showing how to play non VR games while connected to PC with link cable like a direct connection as opposed to using wifi? Also a tutorial to stream when away from home?
Hello! You can use moonlight away from home too. There's a lot of info online as to how to open up Sunshine for connections outside your network through port forwarding. Maybe one day I will have time to make a video on that too, but not currently. Also in regards to connecting directly to Steam, as I also mentioned in the video you may not have heard, I've always found more success when connecting directly to the desktop. Sometimes when connecting to steam and not desktop it will have issues launching. Thank you for the kind words and good luck on your gaming!! :)
Why is this better then quest link or steam link ?
