How these whole 4 albums are not top anything is a mystery to me. Greatest Indie Band ever! My son just turned 12 and he loves "You want everything" he is a gen Z and he loves Snowmine. You have to comeback please!
Agreed, this is a more radio friendly sound and a departure from the dark and ethereal previous releases. But why do people automatically associate that with negativity? It's catchy, the pleasant vocals are still present, the lyrics are still well written (but perhaps not so deep) and I can't help but love everything about the chorus. I don't think it's really fair to say a song 'sounds' mainstream. Good music is good for different reasons to different people. I appreciate this song for what it is.

I found you guys strolling across "This One" one day on UA-cam when I was 16 and immediately loved the sound. Then I found one of my favorite songs of all time, "Beast in Air Beast in Water". And whelp you've done it again. Just went on spotify and said hey I wonder what's new with Snowmine and this gave me the music chills I haven't felt in a very long time. Love you guys.
I saw them perform this live at ACL. The live version didn't sound quite as produced and was really good. They were actually my favorite band at ACL this year.
I enjoyed the song, the comments on it soured my enjoyment a bit, but I can very clearly see where everyone is coming from. I've immensely enjoyed laminate pet animal but of course creative people can evolve and change, but this appears like a radical departure from your old stuff. You managed to do something different well considering I enjoyed it, but it feels a tiny bit like you're tired of not have more exposure, more recognition and so have turned to something that sounds quite frankly a bit more mainstream.
Don't really understand what some people are going on about. The song is amazing: it has their unique sound but more evolved. If you prefer their previous songs, then listen to those. But I personally loved it. :)
So, I do LOVE your works, and this is certainly a nice song. Coming from a place of love. I shall say, I think the instrumentation is slightly thin for my tastes. It IS utilised well, don't get me wrong. And I do think it's a nice change of pace. BUT, I guess I really think your intricate chord progressions and use of ambiance was always a huge draw to pretty much the whole of LAMINATE. DIALECTS lets a nice, icy texture take over, with less distinct harmonies that gave it more of a haunting vibe. I don't think you lost that thick, punchy sound, which I honestly think is unique considering you've rarely ever approached methodical, resonant bass lines to carry a piece. I think this comes down more to a different focus point for the song, and I think you handle it well. I really think it builds up nicely, and seeing from the feedback, many really like the direction. I'm glad you're playing around with different ideas, so again, my two cents come with love. The vocal here though, is great. I think the draw here is letting Grayson's voice breathe through the track, and as ever, Grayson carries the will to let his voice shiver and dip to the emotion and pace of the song. The lyric carries that nicely. "Hit me like a Tidal Wave" is oddly explicit, but the word smith comes forth and really plays around with the idea nicely. I really hope the single does well, and look forward to what other ideas you play around with. Never stop doing what you love guys, you're brill.
