when you're looking for a video to eat your food with and one of your favorite youtubers uploads a video about one of your favorite movies and one of favorite singer>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I would like to point out that the interlude is the forth song on the album like REM in the sweetener album, where she sang "I don't wanna wake up" and the interlude is advising to wake up!
I love your analysis of this album! Your opening line about how you're choosing to comment on the artwork itself and not her personal life is something I wish more people understood. I love seeing the parallels with that film, you can tell she put her heart into this album. I totally agree about the lyrics aspect of the album, compared to Positions which sounded like she was just doing it for fun, this one felt like her baby she cared for in every little detail
Halfway in the video, and I just wanna say, that something I think was lovely in the movie, and that i think you missed (or didnt mention) . I love it when Clem is having a meltdown when they find out they forgot each other, and she spirals into thinking they are doomed, and overthinking the whole thing, and Joel just says "ok", he's willing to fuck around and find out, he wants to see it through, they, even knowing they failed once, are willing to try again, and figure out if the cycle will repeat. I think it was the most romantic part, knowing it may hurt, and still going for it (Psa of course, since i dont wanna give a wrong message, but getting hurt in a relantionship isnt the same as being in an abusive one. If this is the case for anyone, leave, leave, leave. Its not romantic in this case)
i love this video !!! ariana is such a well-rounded artist and you can 100% tell that she puts effort into everything she does. i’m glad she’s being recognized for the genius and masterpiece that is this album and i hope she gets more !! her past 4 albums have showcased ariana is capable of creating meaningful music.
your video made me interested in the album and i really enjoyed listening to it :) i love when artists make albums like this, with a clear storyline and esp inspired by movies, it just makes the experience so immersive, and not just cheap singles and forgettable bsides :/ great video! :)
I'm just gonna take a moment to appreciate the absolute genius it takes to analyze something this deeply and articulate it so well while remaining subjective. Bravo dude. I just discovered this channel and I absolutely love it (im binging all the vids)
I have never even seen the movie, but this video really did make me think about the album "Eternal Sunshine" a lot more. It has a deeper meaning than I thought, your analysis really helped! It was super interesting to see! I hope one day I could see the movie so I can also think about this video and all the references as well! Thank you!
My favourite songs from Eternal Sunshine include: Intro (end of the world), bye, don’t wanna break up again, true story (my favourite song on this album), the boy is mine, yes, and? (It’s grown on me), I wish I hated you and ordinary things I find is a great closer to the album.
honestly this is the best album ive heard . not only sound , lyrics, meaning . everything is just what i wanted to ever experience , none of her other ambums can compete with this . i alaways listen to it in order ( i ve never done that with an album ) but the other day " the boy is mine " started playing and i felt like no it needs " true stroy " . and then i keept going up until i found myself inat the " intro " and played it in order without even realizing that . " yes , and ? " threw me off a littel bc i really liked the song but didn't want the whole album to be the same theme . and that's what she did . im super grateful to this album and body of art
I LOVE this video so much! It really shows just how much depth there is to the album. But also, I’ve never seen the movie. And despite being spoiled, I REALLY wanna watch it now because it sounds like a masterpiece just like this album 🥰
i would love to see another video about the " sweetener / thank you next lore " the music with the real life events and the trasitions between the two . it would be really interesting
i LOVE this interpretation! the first few times listening to the album, i was really trying to figure out all the connections to the movies, and this video confirms a lot of what i thought!! on “bye” i also did initially think it should go after “eternal sunshine”, but the more i think about it, it does make sense where it’s placed on the album. i think that her saying “bye” was the first kinda confirmation that she had to get out of the relationship (hence why it turns from a relationship in “intro” to a situationship in “don’t wanna break up again” possibly ? 👀 and i’m not gonna lie, after “eternal sunshine,” the song to movie connections kinda got fuzzy in my mind, but i think the way u laid it out makes so much sense. one thing i thought of before i watched this video was that “we can’t be friends” is kinda related to the scene where joel says “okay” (at the end of the movie when they are back together, after all the mind erasing happens). bc it’s like “we can’t be friends, but i’d like to just pretend…” and even when u get mad / avoidant (cling to papers and pens), i’ll still wait for you to come back around (“wait until u like me again”)! okay tbh i’m just yapping at this point but thank u for this amazing video! i’ve been looking for something like this so i’m so glad it came up in my recommended :)
I recently watched the movie and listened to the album in full, and I noticed the cohesiveness of Eternal Sunshine, probably because it was inspired by the movie. Every song sounds like it’s telling a part of the same story. It’s like a loop, and in the middle there are all these squiggly lines trying to make sense of what happened in between. But at the end you’re right back where you started.
Great video and analysis, but what exactly did you find "beautiful" about the album cover...? I personally did not understand it or see the connection between the cover and the messages in the album. If someone would be willing to explain their perspective? Maybe I am just missing something? Thank you.🥰
I would actually be interested in hearing a full analysis of the film from you, if you’re interested. You obviously have a very deep, thoughtful understanding of it
a. how does this not have millions of views. b. for your question: best song: Ordinary Things (YEAH I KNOW YOU DIDNT SEE THAT ONE COMING!) worst song: I Wish I Hated You- the music is a bit annoying. i get how it tells a story but the music annoys me, and it just feels more like a heavy book rather than a song with music. I personally think she could have made the music louder, or more detailed. But that's just for me. Yes And is hella good btw, and I love the intro so fking much.
you can have multiple layers of interpretation for one song lol. and she does address that the song is about the media multiple times throughout the video
I don't understand how everything just changed she drops an album and now its sympathy for ari? she still ruined a marriage, ruined another woman's life who just bought a baby into the world, and she's broken up so many other relationships, she's an attention seeker who likes taken men and did some amazing damaging control with this album
bought 😭 anyways, the author of the page that started the damn rumors has held a grudge against her for a long time, and page six is NOTORIOUS for spreading misinformation, yet y’all believed them without questioning anything. when they retract their statement, all of a sudden they aren’t a reliable source anymore? y’all are hypocrites.
it's a messy situation for sure. but i don't touch on the drama much in this video because we have no idea what happened. maybe all the allegations are true. maybe there are false. maybe the truth lies somewhere in between. regardless, ESofTM is a beautiful movie and i'm happy to give it some recognition!
Ariana and Dalton were apparently seperated already In 2022 and Ethan was planning to divorce early 2023. Maybe emotional cheating was a thing🤷♀️dunno but whatever it happened.
People cheat all the time. Is that a bad thing? Yes. Does that make anyone a bad person? Not necessarily. There are lots of male artists who do worse. But if a woman is involved she's the most evil all of a sudden?
i personally disagree i think she warped the metaphor of eternal sunshine because she contradicted the movies themes they were surface level references to me that i don’t enjoy as much
what’s your favourite song from the album? least favourite? i love eternal sunshine, but I still can’t get with yes, and 😭

I used to always eat watching videos, but it is actually very unhealthy so I am trying to not do that anymore.
I love how perfectly Ariana has reenacted Eternal Sunshine to capture all of the little details, much like in her video for "Thank you, Next."
yes! we love a film referencing queen 🫶
@trinaq she's such an icon! i wonder if we'll get some wicked references in her songs or if i just missed some :)
I would like to point out that the interlude is the forth song on the album like REM in the sweetener album, where she sang "I don't wanna wake up" and the interlude is advising to wake up!
WAITTT WOAH that’s wild

OMG GENIUS
such a good catch, oh how i love arianators
No but she genuinely sings sad songs so beautifully. I wanna know your opinion on ghostin, it’s probably my favourite song from hers.
Ghostin breaks my heart every time. I genuinely think it’s one of Ari’s best songs. It’s just so vulnerable.
I mean the fact she couldn't sing the last verse so it was dropped says it all.
I love ghostin even though its so sad 😭❤️
Even after the obvious reference made to the movie I had a hard time decoding the album. You were so great and spot-on!💗
thank you!! it was so fun finding all the parallels haha

I’m so glad you did this 👏🏻 because this is such an amazing concept album and works EXCELLENTLY in comparison with the movie and it’s so smart omg
it is! and i'm so happy she said her album cycle isn't done yet! I can't wait to see how she approaches her other music videos if she releases any ☀️

Great video!!
The title Eternal Sunshine is a movie from the year 2004 starring Jim Carey and Kate Winslet.
You can Google about it.
Joel was still with Naomi when he asked out Clementine, so I can see why he’s insecure and thinks she’s cheating because that’s how he got her.
