Compaired to most stars he is also a really interesting and (at the same time) relatable personality. I have no idea why all interviews with him are so short and also why they keep asking the same questions over and over again. I wanna hear him talk about small stuff that interest him, not about HP.
He made an appearance on QI (Brit panel show) and was so sweetly awkward about being right on a rather difficult question.
He's very aware, he's obviously got add, his mind races around before he can fiend an answer, but as bad as ndt though (or as me). He knows about child actors, so he tries so hard but to be mean, but Marie still knocks in, like when 1 person clapped, then others joined he exclaimed: no you can't all just join in now! But that has a slickly negative tone towards it, because you're beating the person, but he then has to add the " but thanks anyway", to be polite
Daniel talks so fast and so eloquently at the same time, he sounds like a squirrell on drugs or something, i love it

From what I recall, he was a big fan of American rap music and would often memorize rap lyrics and sing them, this is what led to him being so articulate and enthusiastically loquacious

I just appreciate that Dan said, “Nope, not going to go there” and the interview moved on. Multiple times. The man has been famous a long time and knows potential pitfalls and is in charge of what he puts on TV.

HE is the guy who got sick of the papparazzi hounding him so he bought several sets of exactly the same outfit and wore it every day for like six months. Said it was hilarious watching how frustrated the photographers would get trying to get some pictures of him that didn't look exactly like every other picture they'd gotten of him for ages. He is pretty clever with stuff like that it seems.

I line how he dropped that *huge* endorsement of his talent like it was nothing.

He was ultimately chosen because he categorically refused to miss a football (soccer) practice for some test shoots even if it meant he would miss out on the part of being Harry Potter because he had made a promise to his teammates. J.K. Rowling knew that the kid who would end up "being" Harry Potter (also Ron and Hermione) would inevitably become one the most famous people on earth and be subjected to an immense amount of pressure, so she wanted to make sure they had the "personal integrity and strength" - for lack of a better word - to not crumble under that weight or worse : have their souls spoiled by the ease and privileges that come with such a level of fame and fortune.
(Rowling said her motivations were for the well-being of the child actors, but it's fairly safe to assume that because the series would be filmed over the course of several years, production wanted to be sure the actors would be well-balanced and reliable enough to remain at least sufficiently functional so to avoid needing to recast a main character because one of the actors in in rehab or embroiled in a horrific scandal that would affect the image of a children's series... but I digress)
When Daniel Radcliffe announced that he wouldn't be able to make it to the next round of auditions because he had a prior engagement, it was clear that this child acted for fun and not for fame and that he wouldn't put the extra pressure on himself to answer to what society demands and expects out of celebrities. But when Daniel's PARENT'S REFUSED to force their son to miss his football practice even if it meant he would lose the part because it was DANIEL'S DECISION to either go to his audition or his football practice and that even if he had been cast there would be no more exceptions to missing football since it would become even more important that their son learn the value of his privilege by hanging out with normal kids and respecting a schedule, everyone went like "these are the polar opposite of stage parents and they will put their child's health, education, sanity and safety well above any money he might make ; those are parents who care about their son, not their son's career, and will not let him go off-rail or become full of himself and obnoxious but most importantly he will have people to support him unconditionally when the downsides of fame are affecting him and they will not overlook obvious red flags for selfish reasons"
So it it by refusing to have a ego that Daniel Radcliffe got the part.
And that is why Harry Potter is not an asshole

Daniel's a wholesome dude who accepts roles based on how fun they are for him. You'd never think that someone who was the main character on Harry Potter would go and do the role he did on Swiss Army Man, for instance. But he did it because it was fun.
I just watched Guns Akimbo. The ONLY reason I watched it was because Radcliffe was in it. It looked STUPID, but then I watched it and it was great.

@@justinsingh221 I mean genetics mostly, he is only 32 but my message was not about how young he looks at his age... in fact with the beard he looks older than he is I think, but my original comment was about how well his features have improved as he has aged, I thought in the Deathly Hallows part one and two he looked a bit awkward but his features have continued to mature and have matured into what they look like now and I don't think his features are awkward anymore.

What? That’s literally not how that works. You don’t help people learn to be better by cutting them out. As long as they’re being tolerant of YOU, then every time they express their beliefs becomes an opportunity to peacefully confront them and have a dialogue about their beliefs and why it’s socially wrong. Friends should be able to have that kind of conversation. I made a friend who was VERY right-wing. Over the last four years, while he still sees himself as conservative, my having those conversations with him has resulted in him realizing the GOP is not serving his interests. There’s still a ways to go, but progress has been made, and can still be made. I’m very proud of the progress he’s made.
Naturally, there is a limit for what should be tolerated. An unwillingness to accept proven reality is a problem that I cannot mentally deal with for long. But if someone is willing to have a proper dialogue, then why shut them further into an echo chamber?

We have watched so very many child performers spin out sideways as they mature.
And then there's Daniel, who just keeps revealing more and more talent and acumen.
I only wish this interview had gone on a lot longer.
He had a few rough years when he was a teen- lot of alcohol problems and drinking on set. He came to work drunk. Luckily he had an amazing cast and family who had an intervention for him and helped him sort himself out.

Bonnie B I think it’s really tragic when a child actor struggles later on as a result of their early success. If you are a fan of the Harry Potter movies, you of course hope that you aren’t enjoying the films at the expense of young lives being ruined. It’s nice to see these actors we watched when they were kids be well adjusted and have careers later on because of course you wonder what will happen to young actors in a franchise that large. I do think that sometimes comments on how well one former child star is doing can sound like a put down to those who didn’t fair as well or who are struggling. But I think if it more as I’m glad to see someone I watched as a kid not get ground up by the machine and spit out.

He played the lead in the play Equus which is a story about a young man who is sexually obsessed with horses. There’s a nude scene I’m not even going to describe here. You’d need to read the play. It’s brilliant.

I saw Daniel Radcliffe in some very underwhelming movies after Potter, and I was thinking he is gonna end up with the Mark Hamill curse, you know - played such an iconic character that you can never get another decent job again coz no one can see you as anything else.
Glad that prediction didn’t come true.
Radcliffe's commitment to that dance and the level of embarrassing action required by the script completely dwarf the famous scene in Risky Business that people routinely give Tom Cruise accolades for.
Listening to Radcliffe in interviews makes me REALLY hope that he gets a late night talk show presenter position later on in his career. I think he could be a *great* interviewer.

Miracle workers is so freaking underrated. Season 1 was so awesome, and Steve Buscemi was so funny. Dark ages was my favorite season so far and Daniels character is so outright hilarious. I’m really liking Oregon trail so far as well

I watched Daniel's dance scene on Miracle Workers and found my mouth hanging open in a combination of shock and disbelief...and a "Oh my" at the end! 🤗
I grew up Mormon, playing Oregon Trail on an Apple IiC. I don’t recall the dancing-in-drag portion of the game, but you have sufficiently renewed my interest, Mr. Radcliffe 😊
It's a secret cut scene, kind of tricky to get but totally worth it.
I remember when the Miracle Workers episode where Dan sings and dances first came out. My husband and I sat with eyes and mouths wide open! And then we burst out laughing. Yes, because it was funny, but it was also great! The makeup and outfit were just perfect! His singing was amazing and so American! It was a highlight to our night. We found it on UA-cam… if it was on actual video tape we would have warned it out!! Every now and then we bring it up. It’s like the first time we saw it. It doesn’t get old!!

I had to (got to?) play Oregon Trail as part of my intermediate school Gifted & Talented class in the 5th grade, way back in 1985. Somehow I was elected team leader, and we plotted and planned and made all the right decisions and got lucky at all the right times, and made it all the way to the last pass over the mountains into the plains of Oregon without losing a single solitary member of our party and with just enough food to get us to the finish line plus a bit extra for contingencies. And then we drew the CRAP! card and everyone in our party died during a freak avalanche at the top of the pass. But nobody died of dysentery, so I guess I have that to hold on to, 36 years later.🤬🥶🤬🥶🤬🥶🤬☠️
We played it in our history class I think in 1980. I was a D&D player at the time (my older brother was the DM and invented many of his own scenarios) so our team kind of played it like that, as a big adventure, and took all kinds of stupid risks which annoyed the teacher. What was even worse for him was we were the only team that actually survived the entire way so I'm not sure it taught the lesson they hoped it would!

It's so good to see Daniel; I've missed seeing him on late night talk show run. I actually watched David Copperfield during the pandemic, he was amazing at 9 years old. Tore at the heartstrings as young David. I've watched everything he's been in (post- Potter) including last year's "Guns Akimbo" which was WILD - he cracked me up in this movie. And "Miracle Workers" is an hilarious dark and crazy ride, I have loved every season so far. I hope to see season 4! Looking forward to seeing him on the big screen next year. Funny, intelligent, kind - Dan is my dude! Adore him! ❤ 😊 He's rocking that beard and he's a cutie! 😊
